the dress
(A blur of black and white streaks past, scuttling to and fro... nimble and small striped body dashes between junk, crates and debris, obviously fearful to approach the big mecha-spider-jack's (hopefully?) snoozing form. Alas, they still need to request an audience with him... unless??)
(Rustle, shuffle, scribble... and a lanky, shivering in fear, arm extends, holding a note, placing it down closest to his head, mindful not to jostle his cap...)
„NEED HELP.
BEST FRIEND
IS LOST!!! TOO
SCARY ALONE!!
PRETTY PLEASE"
(( @lovesyouknot ))
If only this being's fear hadn't delayed them so... though again, true sleep for the likes of themselves had long been dismissed with rest of mortal luxuries.
Alert in a moment's split, a deadly servo flew- taking firm hold of this unknown little soul's wrist, keeping them in place.
"If you've the COURAGE to make requests... then you shall have enough to FACE me." They demanded, tossing belled tips of that hood over it's other shoulder with one sharp jerk of the head.
Whats the red haze?
pff i should've seen this question coming.
alright, alright, i'll tell you. the red haze is a particular kind of spores that are on the bad hhau server. there are fragile little mushrooms hidden in flora that when touched explode into red spores, latching onto anyone who is nearby. these spores are toxic, but here's the thing: they don't make you sick in the traditional sense.
they're invasive, parasitic, and they take over their host (even though admittedly it is a painful process). almost like a possession.
the victim gets filled with insatiable hunger for blood.
if you think scar would tear grian apart—small and too weak to defend himself against a feral vex intent on consuming—if scar got infected, you would be right. it'd be terrifying.
but vexes are immune.
this is why the vex commune has a little farm near the village centre, when scar and grian arrive. they try to make them grow so that they can potentially turn the spores into weapons: unleash them on human hunters and watch them mindlessly tear each other apart. it's violent and bloody and ugly.
but it's not only effective on humans.
it also affects other species, avians included.
this is why it needed to be removed from the village when grian became a part of it. but a lot of vexes didn't really care enough at the time, or didn't understand fully the level of harm it threatens on grian. it was nadia who acted, wanting to offer scar and grian a safe home, if they decided to stay.
scar and grian were aware of the dangers when they saw it at the commune, as they have already come across these mushrooms. they first came across the red haze by themselves, before they had any idea what it is or that it even exists. (yes, please think of spores stuck between grian's feathers, and scar left to deal with the reality of that on top of everything.)
this goes after juni's arc, after the whole hotspring cave bit. (so after scar's already bitten grian, in a very different context.) the rambles haven't been written yet, but they are planned, so eventually you'll be able to learn more details and get to see how that went <3
Tomorrow, August 22nd, at 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST / 6 PM EST, I'll be holding a 10-year anniversary developer stream for Yai Gameworks, giving history, developer insight, fun facts & other surprises for the whole history of my horror games so far.
the first half of episode five of Grotesquerie is soooo fucking good. 15 minutes with few well placed cuts so it looks like one continuous shot, no breaks, and you feel like you've been holding your breath for all 15 minutes. and the scene builds on itself, the music haunting, things becoming more and more frenzied and suspenseful until it all crescendos and then it happens and the camera rises, above the chaos, and we get a chance to loosen our breaths as we watch the sunset fade to black
(2008) Happy Throwback Thursday.
For a project in my high school art class, I painted myself lost in the hazy red landscape inspired by the dreams/nightmares I was having at the time. My mom threw it out, so this is the only photo I have, but upon retrospection it kind of goes hard.
Raise your hand if you have three active WIPS, one you’ve been writing forever and then you decide to write a random one shot.
I’m that girl. It’s me. I’m a lunatic.
