Here is another short form video that explains clearly and quickly debate tactics used to discredit important issues. In the following are outlined:

Strawman: when someone reframes/rewrites your question to make it easier to beat, often times changing the meaning entirely to make the question seem illogical or irrational.

Appeal to Emotion: Using emotional manipulation to ilicit an emotional response instead of engaging with the argument itself.

Ad Hominem: attacking the person asking questions instead of answering the question. This is specifically to discredit the claim by attacking the person's credibility, even if the claim is valid.

False dichotomy: this is the classic "two things can be true" thing I see a LOT on this site. This one says by focusing on one item, the other item is not important and thus you are evil/wrong/or bad.

Red Herring: when someone brings up a seperate topic to derail and distract from the original topic. The classic "define a woman" tactic Kirk stans use a lot.

Remain calm. Remain rational. And disengage if they try to get an emotional rise out of you so you don't become feed for their content farms. And if you are unable, do not engage.

And record them if they record you so you can post it in full.

Phrases like "I am sorry you feel the need to ridicule people who are different than you." Or "You're not here to learn, you're here to farm content. Please leave me alone." Are good exit strategies.

Stay vigilant. Be safe.

today is the one year anniversary of the piranesi project

ever since i was at heaven pierce her's bandcamp page and i saw "piranesi." as one of his links, i've been a fan of bull of heaven inspired music and discovered an old project called redherring.

if it wasn't for piranesi., my music taste would be so bland and boring

All season long, people have been discussing how Robby’s constant hints about his mental state are obviously a red herring. At times, people thought it was Santos, with her self-harming tendencies, who was actually at risk, at other times, they thought it was Ogilvie, who stole Whitaker’s badge to jump off the roof.

But hear me out: what if it’s Whitaker?

By the end of the season, nothing “dramatic” has actually happened. Everyone is alive, and Robby really wasn’t doing well.

But what if, with all the red herrings and speculation, no one even considered Whitaker? We barely know anything about him, and we haven’t seen whether he has any problems or worries in season 2. Somehow, he almost seems suspiciously okay. He’s there for everyone, helps everyone, always has good advice, and is the kind of model resident Robby doesn’t have to worry about.

Whitaker doesn’t seem to have noticed anything about Robby’s struggles in season 2 (which is a whole topic in itself). What if Robby, and everyone else, also hasn’t noticed Whitaker’s struggles, even though they might be just as serious as Robby’s?

But that’s probably waaay too far-fetched.
