Uthvir from @feynites Looking Glass because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH AND WANT TO HUG THEM SO MUCH D:
A rly messy sketch of Uthvir, precious shark bby from @feynites Looking Glass.
I used the design that @pyrrhy came up with since that’s always how I imagine them now :3
...and I will be yours, in earnest, until the end of always.
@feynites I once went to a hiking on the mountain on a night trail just around the end of sunset, and at one place it feels like the trees are forming a corridor and there were fireflies. So many of them. It felt truly magical. I didn’t manage to draw the ceremony itself in its splendour, it ended up being something simpler, less decorated.
Here’s to the two bonded souls. May the road rise up to meet them.
Revas
@feynites I took liberty... I hope that this does not disturb you that I fic the General AU... You changed the meaning of "Ar Lasa Mala Revas" forever now Fey... Hope that this doesn’t get too OOC.
Lavellan never forgot every single face that she has freed. She always remembered the face before, and the one after. Not only the colour of the markings, but also what lay beneath the skin, flesh and bones, how a few patches of colour could change a face, could change a heart.
In particular, she remembered the hunter’s. It was a face filled with angry markings, a sign of danger painted in bold. Their expression was sharp, trying to appear calm yet with a touch of anxiousness if one knew where to look. They were wounded quite badly on all front when she rescued them, but at this stage, with proper care the wound would heal properly leaving no significant scar to the soul. It was just in time.
Here and now is better than there and later, she thought. It was a quiet, secluded place in a village on the outskirt of Sylaise’s territory. A beautiful place, quiet and mostly with not much people, a perfect place for someone to start adapting to a new life, a new outlook.
She still remembered the room she brought them to, the one filled with soft light spilling from the huge window offering a beautiful view of an early spring morning. It was a warm, quiet place. A place as good as any, probably even better than the tower or Arlathan. They would need quiet when she would do it, and probably a time to adjust on a smaller environment.
She made them sit on a low but comfortable chair. Every person whose marking she had ever erased took the act differently. Some offered slow smiles, some were overcome by emotions. It was hard to know in advance what one’s reaction will be, but it was always advisable to make the person as comfortable as possible.
They sat there quietly, anxiously waiting while she kneeled in front of them, putting her to a lower position than them. Desire stood beside them, ready to offer a gentle smile, a pat on the shoulder, or a hug. It was always reassuring to have a friendly face coming along in such events.
She still remembered how still they were when she started working on their forehead. Their eyes closed, their expression neutral, yet there were a slight twitch to the tips their fingers. She still remembered how their face looks so golden and bright once the red markings were not there anymore, how different it looked. How the tension on their shoulders gently eased into a quiet, serene smile.
She remembered the brown eyes opening again, for the first time on a bare face. Behind those brown eyes are a jumble of emotions, yet they were quiet when they touch their cheeks and forehead and chin with the tip of their fingers, to places where the markings once took.
“You are free,” she said.Solas once said it to her. Now she said it to them, and to many others she had freed.
Their reaction was slightly thrown out of balance. Slightly confused, slightly lost. Desire brushed their fingers.
“I will have to take on June’s marking”, they said softly. The eyes knowing, accepting the fate already.
Desire smirked, and showed them the spell.
Lavellan touched her face slightly while Desire was demonstrating the trick Haninan taught here, all the way back.
Solas took her marking for good, back then, in another lifetime, so long ago. He did not put any on her afterward. Now she took Uthvir’s for good. She was not going to put another one. They were free, and she meant it. That was the least she could do.
“Ar lasa mala revas.” She truly meant it.
Sharkbait wedding is still in the works, but in the meantime I had a need to paint a certain pointy red hunter. (plus a bonus Uthvir sans vallaslin b/c cheekbones this prompt gave me a lot of feels)
@feynites @pyrrhy @cerulione Sharkbait hell is real and it looks like I’m not leaving any time soon. So might as well get comfy. And cry a lot, but that goes without saying.
Confessions
‘Of course you fell in love with them,’ says that voice. ‘You were always falling in love with them.’
These two are going to be the death of me. @feynites
Just some... messy sketch of Uthvir. Part of a larger drawing that might never got finished.
@feynites: you gave me so much feels with Uthvir/Thenvunin/Baby Lavellan lately, so well... here’s something small as a thanks. Please be gentle to them T__T
The process GIF of my latest Squishvir drawing. This is probably one of the most complicated thing I ever tried so far. Multiple light source with both warmth and cool tones, skin painting and scars. Bare skin. It took me longer than I thought, and as usual, nearly got abandoned. The line between deleted half-finished painting and finished one is indeed very thin. Lots of frustration, lots of trials that you guys don’t get to see. Lots of tutorials, lots of lessons and drawing books.
Squishy & Uthvir are characters that really marks me on a very personal level for many reasons. Somehow, there are so many parallels... I really hope I can capture the tenderness I see between them with this picture.
