Which Big City Greens Characters Would Be Suitable For Which Type Of Lantern Rings?
Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on which Big City Greens would be suitable for which type of Lantern Rings. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Big City Greens TV series and Green Lantern comics. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
For Cricket Green, I think that he would be chosen be by a Blue Lantern Ring which, as shown in Green Lantern Annual Vol 5 #3, is powered by hope and chooses its wielder based on their hope. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Space Chicken’, Cricket is quite optimistic and likes to have fun. That would mean that Cricket has a lot of hope in his heart. So, I think that Cricket would be deemed worthy to wield a Blue Lantern Ring. Also, since Lantern Rings allow the wielder to fly, Cricket would probably use a Blue Lantern Ring to have a thrilling and fun flight.
For Tilly Green, I think that she would be chosen by an Indigo Lantern Ring which, as shown in Blackest Night #6, is powered by compassion. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Bunny Farm’, she is very compassionate towards animals even when they are a threat to her family’s crops and, as shown in the episode ‘Big Trouble’, she felt sad and horrible for shoplifting a small candy dispenser from a store. That would mean that Tilly has a lot of compassion in her heart. Also, Tilly would probably put a lot of effort into trying to find out where the Indigo Lantern Ring came from and how it was created. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Rated Cricket’, she was curious to the point that she was willing to explore a whole new dimension.
For Alice Green, I think that she would be chosen by a Red Lantern Ring which, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #37, is powered by rage and chooses its wielder based on their rage. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Swashbuckled’, Alice can get quite angry. However, the problem with Red Lantern Rings is that, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #38, they drive their wielders into a literally feral rage while also driving them to seek revenge on those who they want revenge against. Furthermore, as stated in Green Lantern Vol 4 #37, removing a Red Lantern Ring from its wielder will kill its wielder. But, since, as shown in the episode ‘Big Trouble’, Alice is quite loyal to her family, her Red Lantern self might go creeping around and seeking out any evil person who would dare bring harm to her family before proceeding to kill them.
For Bill Green, I think that he would be chosen by a Blue Lantern Ring which, as shown in Green Lantern Annual Vol 5 #3, is powered by hope and chooses its wielder based on their hope. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Zen Garden’, he was able to overcome his overwhelming anxiety about the farm and becomes more happy and calm. And that’s impressive considering that, as also shown in the episode ‘Zen Garden’, he was anxious about leaving the farm for just a little time at the spa. So, Bill could make quite a powerful Blue Lantern Ring wielder. And, considering that found hope while relaxing, he might use the Blue Lantern Ring to help himself relax more.
For Nancy Green, I think that she would be chosen by a Green Lantern Ring which, as shown in Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #18, is powered by willpower and chooses its wielder based on their willpower. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Chipocalypse Now’, Nancy was willing to rebel against the law to save her family’s farm and, as shown in the episode ‘Uncaged’, was even willing to turn herself in by taking the blame for her kids setting animals free from a city zoo which allowed those animals to wreak havoc throughout the city. That would take a lot of willpower. Although, I think that Nancy would find it odd that she is now a member of the Green Lantern Corps which, as shown throughout Green Lantern comics, operate like space cops given, as already mentioned, how rebellious Nancy can be against the law.
For Gloria Sato, I think that she would be able to wield a Yellow Lantern Ring which, as stated in Green Lantern Vol 4 #20, is powered by fear and, as shown in the episode ‘Blood Moon’, Gloria can be incredibly anxious and was also left for dead which would allow fear to flow through her even more. While, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #17, a Yellow Lantern Ring chooses its wielder based on their ability to instill fear into other people, a Yellow Lantern Ring can also, as stated in Green Lantern Vol 4 #20, be powered by its wielder’s own fear and be used by its wielder because of their own fear. So, if a Yellow Lantern somehow found its way through a portal to the Big City Greens universe, Gloria should be able to use the Yellow Lantern Ring. Also, since, as shown in the Green Lantern The Sinestro Corps one-shot, a Yellow Lantern Ring can teleport itself and a person to the Anti-Matter Universe where the Yellow Lantern Corps homeworld is, it will probably take Gloria there. And, since, as also shown in the Green Lantern The Sinestro Corps one-shot, Sinestro, the leader of the Yellow Lantern Corps, wanted to instill order into the universe by instilling fear in those who bring about chaos, Gloria might get manipulated by Sinestro into working for him since her life has been a chaotic mess. After all, among other things, Gloria was, as already mentioned, left for dead and, as shown in the episode ‘Chipocalypse Now’, because of the craziness that went on with Chip Whistler’s vendetta against the Green family which she sacrificed her job to save the Green family from, Gloria had no job and lost her apartment and had to move into the Green family’s house.
Also, I think that Yellow Lantern Corps member Feena Sik would be intrigued by Gloria’s artwork. After all, as stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, Feena was an artist who used a magic ritual that involves killing her husband to bring her works of art to life and those works of art proceeded to kill the people in her audience and, as shown in the episode ‘Paint Misbehavin’’, Gloria has a passion for art and the emotions behind it including negative emotions and, as shown in the episode ‘‘Rent Control’, Gloria did make a painting that conveyed the fear and despair she had with her life which was a painting of herself crying out of fear and despair with another depiction of her inside that painted depiction’s mouth also crying out of fear and despair and yet another painted depiction of her inside that other painted depiction’s mouth crying out of fear and despair. And, if the fact that Feena killed her husband and the members of her audience is any indication, I think that Feena would like artwork that coveys fear and despair. Also, I think that Feena would like to try her magic ritual that brings paintings to life on Gloria’s paintings. And I think that Feena was probably experimenting with combining her Lantern Ring’s power to create hard light constructs with her magic ritual that brings paintings to life since hard light constructs would, in a sense, count as art since they are crafted depictions of things which would probably increase the power of those brought-to-life paintings and also because Yellow Lantern Ring constructs are powered by fear which would probably further increase the power of the brought-to-life paintings that were inspired by fear and despair and Feena would probably also use that in conjunction with her magic to give the living paintings fear-related powers of their own. So, after tricking Gloria into thinking that all this would only be used to scare evil people into submission and lying to her by saying that only evil people who actually deserved it were killed to bring the paintings to life, Feena would work with Gloriato create incredibly creative and scary living paintings which will then be used as weapons. While Gloria might be scared to do it at first given that, as stated in Green Lantern/Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1, Feena’s living painting ritual requires lots of blood to work, Gloria might slowly overcome that fear given that, as far as she knows, it came from evil people who deserved to die.
I also think that Gloria’s aforementioned painting of herself crying out of fear and despair with another painted depiction of herself in that painted depiction’s mouth also crying out of fear and despair and yet another painted depiction of herself in that other depiction’s mouth crying out of fear and despair was meant by Gloria to represent that, at least during that moment, there was nothing inside Gloria but fear and despair no matter how deep within her soul one went given that, in that painting, within her crying out of fear and despair, there were more depictions of her crying out of fear and despair with the part about it that was meant to represent there being nothing but fear and despair in her probably being that, within the second depiction of her that was in the first depiction’s mouth crying out of fear and despair, there was just a third within the second depiction’s mouth also crying out of fear and despair. So, Feena might try to use that painting in another combination between the fear-powered hard light constructs and her magic ritual to bring that painting to life to combine the fear-powered hard light construct aspect with the painting’s trauma-based symbolism of there being nothing but fear and despair within Gloria in that moment to give that brought-to-life painting the power to brainwash her victims into feeling nothing but fear and despair no matter how deep into their souls one went. And I think that Feena might share that hybrid power with Gloria to see what she can contribute to it with her artwork. But Gloria might still be a bit weary about the magic ritual aspect of the hybrid power requiring blood to work which probably means that Gloria will see if she can create a similar facsimile with only the Yellow Lantern Ring’s power while reserving the hybrid power as a last resort. Also, given everything already mentioned about Gloria’s aforementioned painting combined with the fact that there is a circle of pure blackness in the innermost depiction of Gloria in said painting, that painting was probably also meant by Gloria to represent a black hole of fear and despair. So, considering this and the fact that Yellow Lantern Rings can, as shown in Green Lantern Vol 4 #45, create hard light constructs of what the wielder is thinking of, the fact that Yellow Lantern Rings have really far put powers like, as already mentioned, teleporting people to the Anti-Matter Universe where the Yellow Lantern Corps homeworld of Qward is and, as shown in DC Rebirth Green Lanterns #10, the Yellow Light Of Fear which the Yellow Lantern Rings are powered by reads the opponent’s mind and then creates hard light constructs of that which they are most afraid of, Gloria might use the Yellow Lantern Ring and the symbolic nature of her artistic mind to alter the constructs of her evil enemy’s worst fear and cause them to have similar but different effects on the enemy such as making it so that the construct of the enemy’s worst fear also operates like a black hole version of itself that will already severely scare the enemy but also suck them into it and instill more and more fear into them the deeper in they go. After Gloria finds out that the Yellow Lantern Corps is evil and she was tricked, she will be devastated to learn that she was helping an evil organization. So, Gloria might do everything she can to stop Feena as well as the rest of the Yellow Lantern Corps.
For Remy Remington, I think that he would be chosen by a Blue Lantern Ring which, as already mentioned, is powered by hope and chooses its wielder based on their hope. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Space Chicken’, Remy likes to have fun which would probably also mean that he would use the Blue Lantern Ring to have fun.
For Vasquez, I think that he would be chosen by a Star Sapphire Lantern Ring which, as shown in Blackest Night #6, is powered by love and chooses its wielder based on their love. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Unguarded’, Vasquez has a very strong familial-like love for Remy to the point that he can be quite protective of him and sometimes even overprotective of him. So, I think that Vasquez would use the power of the Star Sapphire Lantern Ring to protect Remy.
For Chip Whistler, I think that he would be chosen by a Red Lantern Ring which, as already mentioned, is powered by rage and chooses its wielder based on their rage. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Evil Family’, Chip wanted revenge against the Green family. And, given that, as also already mentioned, Red Lantern Rings drive their wielders into a literally feral rage while also driving them to seek revenge against those who they want revenge against, that will probably cause Chip to be even more motivated to seek revenge against the Green family. Also, since, as also shown in the episode ‘Evil Family’, Chip just kept on going no matter what in a fight against Vasquez to the point that Chip tired Vasquez out to the point that he couldn’t fight anymore and Vasquez is a skilled fighter which makes this feat even more impressive and that all would mean that Chip would be extremely dangerous with a Red Lantern Ring. So, it would be even harder to put down a Red Lantern Chip Whistler.
For Officer Keys, I think that he would be chosen by a Blue Lantern Ring which, as already mentioned, is powered by hope and chooses its wielder based on their hope. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Gramma Driver’, Officer Keys is incredibly happy and easygoing to the point that, even though his foot just got run over by a car, he was still happy and easygoing. That’s quite an absurd level of hope. Also, Officer Keys would probably use the Blue Lantern Ring to help enforce the law since, as also shown in the episode ‘Gramma Driver’, he is quite enthusiastic when it comes to enforcing the law.
For Bash and Bella, I think they would be chosen by Star Sapphire Rings which, as already mentioned, are powered by love and chooses their wielders based on their love. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Gramma Driver’, Bash and Bella are quite passionate about their romantic love for each other to the point that they act quite romantic with each other even while they are committing crimes and were incredibly distraught about being separated. I think they would use the Star Sapphire Lantern Rings’ powers to make hard light constructs that would allow them to have a romantic time while robbing banks. After all, as shown throughout Green Lantern comics, pretty much all types of Lantern Rings can make hard light constructs including the Star Sapphire Lantern Rings.
As for Chip Whistler’s fiancé who is referred to as Babe, I think that she would also be chosen by a Star Sapphire Lantern Ring which, as already mentioned, is powered by love and chooses its wielder based on their love. After all, as shown in the episode ‘Evil Family’, she and Chip Whistler fell in love with each other and she loves Chip to the point that she stayed loyal to him even after finding out that he’s evil and, as shown in the episode ‘Chip’s Revenge’, she wanted to marry Chip and was very passionate about the wedding she was planning to have with him to the point that she loves talking about it even while doing evil. So, she would probably use the Star Sapphire Lantern Ring to help Chip in whatever way possible and also see if it’s power to create hard light constructs can be used to help organize her and Chip’s wedding. Also, I think that it’s fitting in a strange way that she and Chip winded up being in love with each other since opposites do attract and she, as already mentioned, wanted love while Chip, as also already mentioned, wanted revenge. So, one of them is attracted to love while the other is attracted to rage. That makes them quite the perfect opposites.
Well, that’s all for this post.
