The episode 1 of the new season is out today and it looks amazing!

The animation is beautiful!!! The camera work, the lighting, the fluidity... I’m honestly in awe, they stepped it up big time and I couldn’t be happier!! ;-;

Bless Toei and bless the new director. I’m especially over the moon about the new art direction for Fujin; THAT is the Fujin I know and love and have wanted to see animated for so long!! I legit couldn’t stop smiling throughout the whole thing. The Galopoula arc is my favorite in the series, so getting to see it done so beautifully, I just... I’m so excited!!

I just made myself sad thinking about Jin having nightmares/visions about Mogami dying, waking up in the middle of the night, and just peaking in Mogami's bedroom just to listen to his snoring to assure himself that he's still alive. Then, during current story time, him doing the same thing for the rest of the members of Tamakoma before spending the rest of the night sitting on the roof or wandering through forbidden zone, trying to sort out what was part of the nightmare and what was a vision.

You are giving me so many feels and so much fic material, if only I wasn’t so lazy to actually write anything. ;-;

The idea of little Arashiyama being concerned about his friend because Jin keeps showing up to school looking horrible (General pale complexion, dark bag under his eyes) and falling asleep in class and being punished for it. The furthest he ever gets in his questioning is Jin explaining that he's been having nightmares. Then one day, he shows up to school and Jin isn't there. When he gets home, his parents sit him down and explain that Jin's mother died. (But the details are unclear on how)

And as soon as he finds out, he tries calling Jin only to get no answer, so he rushes out of his house and searches all over until he finally finds Jin, sitting alone on some rooftop overlooking the city. Jin tells him he knew he would come and that it’s pointless for him to say anything (because Arashiyama is always talking), but Arashiyama surprises him by not saying anything and just walking over and wrapping his arms around him. They sit in silence for a long time until Jin finally thanks him for being there.

I also like the idea that after Arashiyama becomes popular, several border agents start to tease Jin about getting the "Signature Arashiyama" haircut. He jokes with them about it too. But once, Jin complained about it randomly to Arashiyama, saying that he had the haircut first. After Arashiyama laughs about it, they decide to head back to his family home for a while and sort through the childhood photos of the two of them to decide who had it first.

My headcanon is that Jin and Arashiyama were childhood friends (mostly because their mothers were close friends) and in the same class in Elementary. But whenever Jin's mom died, Jin grew distant from Arashiyama. Arashiyama's mother told him to let Jin be distant, saying that he needed the space. They never really returned to being close and were placed in different classes in middle and high school. Then they became friends again a while after Arashiyama joined border.

I approve of this headcanon. 👍

Mine differs a little bit from yours, in that I think Arashiyama was a huge support pillar for Jin after his mother died. I feel like Jin didn’t have many friends when he was younger and Arashiyama was someone who really understood him and was always there for him. I also like the idea of them being in the same high school class together, sitting next to each other, and passing each other notes during class. :’D

Do you think Jin and Arashiyama ever gets confused for being cousins or even in some cases, for each other? I want Jin to be out in public (at a store or something) and have a little old lady with thick glasses tugging at his arm, talking about how lovely he was on TV last night and how her granddaughter is a big fan and wants to join border as well when she's older. Jin just smiles and thanks her for the praise, then calls Arashiyama up on his way home to tease him about it.

Honestly, I don’t think it would happen unless Jin walked around wearing a bright red jacket lol. Even then though, people might just think he’s a cosplayer or something. XD Now, if it was dark out, then it’s another story. Even with his regular blue jacket, if the lighting isn’t very good, I think they could be confused for each other easily.
