Dad's Song - Set It Off
I finally wrote your song at last
Sorry that this one came out so sad
Every tear I had was shed for the man
That gave me a better sense of life and meaning
To motivate, there's no short-cuts to success
I'll wait for his guiding hands
My guardian angel until the very end
Do you think Frank and Gabe also had a double wedding and when Frank attended his son's double wedding he cried, not only out of happiness, but at reminiscing his friendship with Gabriel Shaw?
Daily reminder that Gabe did not only die in a car crash but was also said to have known how to work on cars and trucks—So conclusion? Gabe was a car guy.
Gabriel Shaw was some sort of alt kid in high school and college.
Leather jacket, ripped jeans, dyed hair, maybe a facial piercing or two like a lip piercing or eyebrow piercing, perhaps a tongue piercing and/or septum ring, Definitely has his ears pierced, black combat boots, maybe some eyeliner??
And when he got older he kept some of the piercings and obviously the leather jacket, but now he’s got brown hair with silver streaks here and there, and doesn’t wear the eyeliner anymore. Or ripped jeans, unless he’s just hanging out with his family or friends but they’re not super ripped. Basically just a former alt kid dilf at this point.
Gabe and Doran sit together, talking quietly over coffee while the kids get acquainted. David hadn’t even been born the last time they had visited. He has his mother’s serious demeanor, regarding the energetic Marley with a mix of curiosity and disdain.
“You’re more than welcome to join up with us,” Gabe says. It’s not the first time he’s invited them into his pack.
“Thank you, but we won’t be staying long,” Doran replies with a weary smile. Gabe reaches for his old friend’s scarred hand.
“You don’t have to keep running, you know? You’d be safe here. Marley would be safe here.” It’s a last-ditch effort to get them to stay. He’d feel bad about its slight underhandedness if it didn’t appear to be working.
Doran eyes the kids, who are now engaged in a game of pretend. Kids deserve that kind of freedom, that kind of peace. Kids deserve the safety and stability that Doran’s life on the road doesn’t provide.
David had always felt there was a distance he could never quite rid of with them.
“As if we weren’t always trying to pull the truth out of you."

“Do you miss him?”
Darlin’ crossed their arms, David noting the way their eyes fell and their expression washed out. He had heard from Milo their thoughts about his father long ago after a night of drinking apparently, not that they needed to know that.
“Yeah,” they said as if worried someone might hear the confession. “But it feels weird to miss someone that much when I wasn’t even around for long.”
“Six years is a long time,” David insisted, Darlin’ shooting him a look.
“Not compared to 22. Especially considering how much of an ass I was at first.”
“Why compare?” David demanded, placing his hands on his hips. “He saw you as family. It’s okay to miss him. I sure as hell do. So do Asher and Milo. So does the rest of the pack.”
“I’m not like them and you know it, David.”
Instead of answering, David reached into the still full bag of stars and pulled out the paper he had discovered earlier. Darlin’ eyed it curiously, squinting as if unsure of what to make of it.
After a moment of quiet contemplation, he held it out to the wolf who took it with unsure fingers.
