Speaking of the mates getting hurt.

David pulling up coming back home after getting some calls from William about some threats he’d been receiving from a different house. William withheld this info for a while before telling David.

After talking with Will, David tries to ring Angels cellphone. He’s automatically hit with their voicemail. One that they made automatically after their wedding, they’re giggling about how you can reach Angel Shaw later.

A voicemail that is now not so sweet due to the fact that he can’t get ahold of his other half at all. He paces through his office and eventually calls Asher in. Tells him the entire situation and that he will be gone for a minute to check on his mate. Asher being the best beta ever covers for him. Obviously, that’s his friend too. He would want to know what’s happening just as much as the big guy.

So David rushes off. Faster than he’d usually drive but somehow too slow for his liking

When he pulls up, it’s deathly silent. Too quiet. The door is agape and a sense of dread runs down his spine.

He kicks open the door. Seeing a pattern of blood. Some bits small. Some bits alarming bigger. But signs of a struggle. It smells strong. He shifts knowing a fight is happening and he will end it no matter what.

He circles his house and eventually makes it upstairs. Where he hears a heaving Angel, and a taunting Vampire. I guess they didn’t hear him come in.

“No one’s here to save you!” They laugh

“When that brute of an alpha of yours comes crawling back here he will find nothing but a severed head. “

David’s closer now, he can hear Angel shaking. Locked in their own bedroom closet trying to find a weapon of some sort.

“ I’d suggest opening this door, make it easy for me and I might make it an open casket funeral instead of a closed one.”

David pounces, Vamp unknowingly gets pushed to the ground, clawing for their life but he won’t let go of their neck. He clamps down hard with all his might until-

He flings the vamp at the wall, turning them to nothing but ash and bones. Angel who was still in the closet, using an old t-shirt to hold to their wound and looking around for a weapon stops as everything went silently.

Thinking they have a bit more time they turn their phone back on and dial David, maybe they could get some help before that vamp comes back.

Ring, ring, ring

David’s phone echos from downstairs where he left it. Angel confused takes a small step towards the door opening it up a tiny bit to see

David’s wolf form standing on top of ash and bones. It’s like he doesn’t hear his own cell. His eyes glow, but it looks different. They glow a deeper gold, brighter, more menacing.

“David, is that you?” Angel says more shaky than they would have wanted. It’s like the entire situation is hitting them all at once. Their eyes become glossy as the tears and sweat mixes with the blood dripping down their face.

David shifts back. Seeing his mate while injured beyond belief, alive. He runs over to them caressing their crying face.

“Angel, fuck I’m so glad-“ tears form in his eyes, sentences form and stop as he starts to sob uncontrollably. Holding angel like if he let go, something or someone would take them away.

And he’d be dammed if he’d let that happen.

David made the mistake of asking Angel what they wanted to do for date night. He should've been suspicious of the sparkle in their eyes. But when he pulled up to the club they had entered on the GPS, he let himself think maybe he had misjudged them.

I mean, it doesn't look like a depraved sex club.

It was a regular club (called Dix Ball, but still). It seemed like Angel just wanted to go dancing.

And dance they did. The two of them. Bodies pressed up against each other as they swayed and grinded the night away.

Then, came the drinks. Shot after shot. Cocktail after cocktail. Bottle after bottle.

As easily as the rainbow of liquids poured into their glasses, so did their giggles.

David sighs; he can't hold it anymore. "Come on." He gently tugs at Angel's wrist.

They lazily flop into his chest, one of their hands finding his bicep and squeezing. "Where are we going?"

"Bathroom," he draws them towards the unisex bathroom in the back of the club by twining his fingers through theirs.

Angel's head snaps up to face him and they gasp almost as loud as the music. "David!" The sparkles in their eyes are animated. "Are you--?"

"No, no. I just need to pee, and there's no way in hell I am leaving you out here by yourself. Knowing you, you'd probably start dancing on the ceiling the moment I take my eyes off of you."

There's no pouting whine or smarmy quip from his partner trailing behind him. He glances back, noting their fingers tangled together still and that his partner is beaming and giggling at the drunken compliments of passing patrons.

Once they eventually get to the bathroom. David's brain starts whirring. Luckily, there's no one else in here, but Angel is still tipsy out of their mind and they cannot be alone. He refuses.

"Yknow," Angel purrs. "I could go into the stall with you."

And much to David's chagrin, the two amble their way into the stall together.

He turns away and starts working at his zipper to do his business and get the relief that he so clearly deserves.

But then, there's a tap at his shoulder.

"Yes?" He casts a look at them over his shoulder.

"Can I help you pee?"

"W-what?"

"Can I help? Please?" They flutter their eyelashes at him.

"You cannot be serious--"

"Oh, I am. I've always wanted to, please!"

David's brain is whirring faster than it ever has. Angel has expressed this before, usually in the darkness of their bedroom, in the dead of night. And David had always scoffed it off as Angel's usual perversion... but now the moment has come. And David is too pressed to argue.

"Ugh, fine," he hisses, turning back to the toilet. He lifts his arms a tad, just enough not to touch the grimy walls of this disgusting stall. "Hurry."

Angel squeals excitedly and slides their arms around his sides before finding David's waiting cock.

David feels his ears burning. This has to be the most embarrassing--

"Two hands, right?" Angel giggles into his back. "Who am I kidding, three hands wouldn't even be enough--"

"Too much commentary from the peanut gallery, thank you," David snaps before closing his eyes and taking deep breaths in an attempt to bring back the sensation.

soooo close--

"Hey, so nothing is happening--"

"Shut up," David mutters. "I need to concentrate."

"Sorry. Sorry."

Okay... deep breaths. One, two, three--

"Am I aiming okay?"

David takes another deep breath, pointedly ignoring them, but using one of his hands to reposition their aim.

One, two, three..

AHA! Success!

Angel giggles, "holy shit! It's happening!"

"Don't squeeze," he hisses.

"Sorry."

And then, it's done. And after wiping, washing, and rolling his eyes at his beaming spouse, the two hightail it out of the club to the sidewalk as they wait for a cab.

"Yknow... this has been a good bonding experience for us," Angel says, their voice full of playful sincerity as they smile up at the moon.

"I swear to God if you tell your little group chat--"

The rest of David's halfhearted threat is lost under Angel's unbridled laughter.
