The sucking motion can cause the blood clot that forms after extraction to dislodge, exposing the wound and bone to air and agony. We like the blood clot, it is our friend! No straws! /Edna Mode

That looks delicious, but don't use a straw! Give it at least three days, but if possible longer before using a straw! The pressure from sucking can remove the blood clot from the socket and cause lots of pain along with delayed healing!

I was also informed by another friend that apparently alcohol can cause dry socket, so evidently I am just screwing this whole healing process up. Fingers crossed I didn’t dislodge anything - I’m hoping the fact that it’s a top wisdom tooth and I was trying to divert liquid to the other side will have helped (y)
