Attack Mode Romeo, the great lover, really just loves to defend his territory. Lean over the edge of the lake and you risk a peck from that piercing bill. Sky in the Eyes Romeo is a Red-throated loon well known to many local wildlife advocates in Anchorage. He is fearless and aggressive. It’s something that occasional visitors seem to misinterpret as affectionate and interested. He defends his lake with ferocity from everything from other waterfowl to humans, and even warns off air traffic with resounding calls. Unfortunately, Romeo doesn’t seem to have a girlfriend either. So maybe he’s just a bit too defensive.
