I can't believe how fun it is to research! It's so weird; maybe the librarian in me is starting to take over, but I HATED researching during my associate's and bachelor's degree, but now that I'm actually researching topics and things that relate to my field of study, I feel like it's so much more fun!

I also discovered that I saved a whole BUNCH of open database search engines in my bookmarks. When I was writing articles for my blog, I must've saved them then. It's kinda useful for present-me because I feel like, when I found all of those search engines (possibly from right here on tumblr! But I can't remember), I don't remember using them all that much. That's probably why my "articles" on my blog were so one-sided and opinionated; I just didn't look things up, though I had the resources to do so. Can't believe I'm only NOW taking advantage of them.

Who would've thunk that researching could be so much fun? I highly recommend it! Even if you're not in school, if you looking for more information about certain topics, definitely check out free search engines besides google.

I'm learning right now, in my information seeking class, that people often search things on the most convenient search engines they can find. That usually means google. I highly recommend looking into other search engines. I have a post saved in my reference tag (#reference for future) that has the post of different search engines to use outside of google. If you want the links to the research engines for open academic articles and journals, amongst other things, let me know and I'll post them!

I really haven’t thought what she would do RN, since In my stories she’s gone out of her sons’ life, very early. I guess she’d be an escort or just rely on wealthy men; probably has a profession as a designer of clothing;Reds;Mother: Currently nameless;Takes control of the Northern region of ‘Hell’. Could be considered a Queen solely on her powerful abilities and control the whole realm. Instead, choosing to control a certain region, so that her species wouldn’t be considered as the best creatures when It comes to ruling -- knowing well that different species of demons might not see their worth. That, and also give other demons a chance of ruling.Father doesn’t exist because the mother is capable of producing children alone; forming them through her deadly sins.

Every needs to know of this lovely app:

It's called Finch and it helps you get tasks done by nurturing this bird! The more tasks you do, the more it grows! You can make currency through doing tasks and completing journeys (you go on a journey every day!). You can use that currency to buy clothes and decorations for the room they stay in! As you grow your lil birdie, more and more stuff unlocks that you can do!

Now it's a free app and you can do a lot with it, even with the free version! If you want extra stuff, though, you can get a subscription (you can either pay for a full year up-front or you can do a monthly subscription, which is what I have! My subscription costs me $9.99 a month). However, that's completely optional.

It's really fun and I know that my new ADHD meds are helping, but this app has just intensified them and it really helps. It gives you options for tasks to do, different "journeys" you can do that you can group an amount of tasks together and once you do them for a so many days you get a prize. It doesn't punish you for not getting things done; it actually gives you the option to reflect on why you didn't get it done and get you thinking about what's bothering you.

It has multiple prompts that ask you about how your feelings about things, gives you exercises to do whenever you're in distress or sad or anxious (breathing exercises, grounding exercises, prompts to reflect or rant about upsetting things, etc.), and also keeps track of your mood throughout the day!

It's just such a sweet app and, while I've only had it for about 7 days now, I'm loving it more and more everyday!

i should sleep

but I’m thinking about this one castle I got to explore the ruins of. It was... in Dover, I think? Hm.

  I remember the light spray of the rain and the grayness of the world, which was an endless foggy expanse of sharply upthrust rock walls, all crumbling and graffitoed (graffitti’d?), and I could not imagine this ruin as it had been hundreds of years before, whole and entire. I was there in my blue rainslicker, seven years old, disappointed, in a way.

wishing that the castle had never been a castle but rather had always been this  half-broken labyrinth of green grass and granite. 

The nearest thing I can think of that other people would know... exploring the land in the game Shadow of the Colossus. The ruins make no sense, their scale varies wildly, from the ‘colosseum’ of the lizard colossus to the vast hidden Dam. Those structures were built to be ruins, to awe and confuse.

The aesthetics of ruined structures. Pompeii vs Ostia. Psychotropic architecture. Corrosion and decay as symbols of ancient power. (and as a chic style choice? Cf the zoning laws of Savannah’s historic district). Purposeless as the point.
