Knowledge is the foundation. What you know builds the basis for your conscious actions. The more you expand your knowledge, the more building material you have to construct how you interact with the world.
There is power in all things. There is not a rock or rodent in this world that someone can't learn from. Someone walking down a street sees a dog barking viciously at them, and without fear but wanting no problems, they walk down a different street. A friend calls 5 minutes later asking if he was okay because there had been a shooting on that street the person would usually walk down coming home from work, true story in which I was graced to be told. A man walks down a road and gets a rock in his shoe. He ignores it for a little while, but when it really starts to bother him, he stops just before a corner to get the shoe out of his foot. Less than a minute after he stops, a drunk driver skips the curb and would have hit him if not for the rock in his shoe that he stopped to remove. How many vehicles are based off of or inspired by insects, lizards or other animals? Submarines, air planes, cars, etc. There are things to behold everywhere that could potentially change or save your life, but often times only an open ear and an open mind can observe, identify and or learn from those situations.
I am one who sees much and hears much. I am witness to many stories, hearer of many tales, seer of many realities. Many don't have the chance to travel the world, however this does not mean that you can't be well-traveled. As long as your ears and mind are open, you can have a well-traveled soul. Absorb the experiences of those around you who lend you their time, voice and knowledge. Learn from their mistakes and success. Let your ability to listen bring you to peace and fruition.
Every morning I wake up, I'm grateful to be alive. I actually had a friend who went to sleep and never woke up, so I'm a firm believer that to wake up is a gift. When you wake up, what are you thankful for? The ability to walk? The ability to speak? The ability to roll over and go back to sleep? Granted if you have these abilities. Tell yourself 3 things you appreciate about yourself before you begin your day and see how it makes a difference in your day to day routine.
How much do you know about the world around you? Knowledge is the foundation of all things. Do you strive to know as much as you can about all things? Do you stick to any particular subject or topic? How broadly does your mind encompass the world that your consciousness creates? Do you seek to know some things but seek to be told others? Or do you seek to know all things for yourself? If you read the Bible, do you read the Qur'an? If you read the Gita, do you read the Talmud? If you know about the Honorable Mahatma Ghandi, do you know about the Honorable Elijah Muhammad? If you know about the Honorable Sun-Tsu, do you know about His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada? If you know the principles of Bushido, do you know the principles of chemistry? If you are familiar with Fernando Botero, are you familiar with Salvador Dali? If you are familiar with Nelson Mandela, are you familiar with Fidel Castro? If you are knowledgeable about mathematics, are you knowledgeable about nuclear engineering? If you know the local Hip Hop scene, do you know the local Rave scene? How well do you know the area in which you live? How many street lights are in your neighborhood? How many trees are in your immediate area? How many farms are in your town or city? What is the major gross product of your general environment? How many square miles is your town or city? How large is the Earth? How much do you really know about the world around you? Never stop expanding your mind, for every bit of knowledge you acquire is an investment in your soul, your innermost being, and what you know will ultimately manifest in your life. Your consciousness and what you think is important, for in your mind lies your perception and your perception creates the world in which you live. Study how your mind works, get to know yourself and love yourself. These are just a few things out of an entire universe of which you may discover. And always keep an open mind. Entertaining an idea does not equate to accepting or becoming that idea. Learn for the sake of learning and for the sake of who you are and your own personal growth. Truth in the form of knowledge has such a powerful vibration. And the more you know, the more universal you become, the more people you become aware of, the more energy you become exposed to.
So many people sell themselves short. Your limit, how far YOU can go CANNOT be determined by others. Love yourselves enough to give yourself that chance to live and be better; love those around you to give them that side of you. Be the standard. Really try to succeed at what you love, for even a great failed attempt, in its gloriousness, may very well be the catalyst for someone else's success that looks up to you and wants to carry on your work. Don't sell yourself short and see how beautiful you really are, how beautiful you can become, and how beautiful you can make the world around you.
Self acceptance is the answer to a lot of people's emotional problems, you'd be surprised. Different things nag at your love for yourself, such as growing up without a father or living in a sibling's shadow. Every time you think about those things that bug you, you grow smaller. You love yourself less and less and soon you may begin to thirst aggressively for outside validation or completion. Next thing you know, someone's always looking for that romantic love interest to save them and heal their wounds and give them the love that they have deprived themselves of. People become overly emotional, powerfully sensitive, overly clingy, actively seeking attention regardless of it being positive or negative, become indifferent and less loving towards others, turn their dissatisfaction and anger over things that they couldn't control towards themselves and may even go as far as to hurt themselves physically. These are many of the problems we see in the beings of our youth, adults, elderly, all people that we see today. We all have demons we fight on a day-to-day basis. Let us not walk callously into each other, for we all need to be healed.
Do not be fearful of what you don't understand. The unknown isn't to be feared, but to be explored, learned. The unknown is one of your greatest teachers. So much of your current world exists today only because you went outside of the fear to expand your comfort zone. That thing you're afraid of today could be your niche in life tomorrow.
