love me tender (love me wild) - a little negotiation
A/N - A few hours late, but for @regencyfemdom2020
Being born a lady of modest means, Shirayuki learned early to think on her feet - to count her coin and make every parting with them in the market one earned by the shopkeep. Her grandfather, being a surprisingly indulgent sort, encouraged every moment she spent with her nose buried in her books while her grandmother, a more pragmatic soul, kept her neck deep in the bar ledgers.
It was then no surprise when after their sudden passing, she was able to remain single, independent, financed by their savings and her quick wit in all things mercantile. Marriage, and all things related, was not a subject that she often gave much thought to. Not when her patients suffered more often than not of it.
That was, of course, until the solicitor darkened the charred remains of her shop after that disastrous night where she dared deny a suit, informing her that her long absent father had left her an entailed property in the country. She had only to marry before she came of age and safety was again assured.
Marriage. It had been a poor investment for her dearly departed mother as best Shirayuki was able to tell. And it was, she was certain, destined to be equally bleak for her. Never would she have wagered that any marriage, let alone one of convenience, would be so… blessed.
