- He has that poetic elegance that follows him like a shadow. He is beautiful, like a Dead Poets Society character, or like Dorian Gray.

- Shy boy at first. Let's not lie, Sirius takes so much space that our Regulus has to be the quiet, introverted one.

- You probably would have to make the first step.

- Lonely boy. Not because he doesn't like people, but because like every child who had abusive parents, he's just so anxious, scared of taking too much space. And just like his brother, he keeps his emotions to himself, and stays alone when he has a problem.

- Stolen glances and smiles across the classroom at first.

- He falls for you not because you are so beautiful, but because you are smart and insightful.

- He takes you on dates under the stars, to the library, sharing about his favourite poems or novels.

- When he doesn't dare to share about his feelings, he talks to you in French.

- "Tu sais que tu es jolie comme un cœur?"

- At some point, when he refuses to give you the translation, you ask Sirius, who is tempted to translate bullshit to you just to mess with his little brother. He doesn't, though. Because he knows how smitten he is with you.

lots of hugs and cuddles, that man is touch-starved.

for the first couple of months, he'll keep looking at the ring in your hand, as if he can't believe that not only is he in love, but he's married.

you’ll go to events together and he’ll pat a stranger on the shoulder and be like — “see that woman?” *points to you* “yup, she’s my wife.”

the stranger would look at him weirdly before walking away.

in his defense, he was extremely drunk on any sort of event, because it’s mostly pure-blood crap that he feels obligated to go to.

you may not like these events, but you’re determined to keep your husband occupied so he would stop glaring at random people from his family.

you’d talk about nothings and force him to dance with you, and he’ll do so begrudgingly.

EVERYDAY LIFE 

even after months of marriage, he's in awe of everything you do.

anytime he accidentally wakes up at night and sees you sleeping peacefully, he'll feel giddy as the first day he met you.

speaking of sleep, he's always reluctant to wake up early, because he works late + loves staying up.

this leads to many —  "Regulus let go of me please, I have to go."

"No you don’t," he'll whine and keep you as his prisoner.

he likes to be in charge of house decor, and he’s so obsessed with making everything ✨elegant✨

you say yes to anything he choose, mainly because you don't care. it’s not like it mattered, you were much more interested in leaving muggle stuff around the house.

REGULUS BLACK AND MUGGLE TECHNOLOGY

regulus loves and hates these.

for example, the first time you left your phone on the table, it started to ring and regulus, who was peacefully applying butter over his bread, yelped and backed away, making the jar fly away from his hands.

he looked around for you, but you had already left for work, so he did some... creative solutions.

first, he tried putting a huge bowl over the phone, but it still wouldn't stop buzzing.

then he wondered whether he should use a spell and blow it into thousand pieces, but came to the conclusion that his wife would not be so happy about that.

so like any sane person, he did the only thing he could.

when you came back, you saw regulus under the bed, sipping tea and reading newspaper with the light of a candle.

“Reg-?”

“Hello.” 

“What’s going on?” 

“The small box wouldn't stop buzzing. I’m just taking precautions because like mother says, if it makes noise for more than ten minutes, it’s probably going to explode.”

you blinked and realized your husband may need more muggle technology lessons.

but his approach to anything included assuming one particular thing — explosions.

when you first shown him a TV, he nodded and stated, “Oh, that looks like it’ll explode.”

washing machine? He had just one question — “Does that explode?”

toaster? — “Why does it explode bread?”

It’s messy to teach him, but fun all the same. 

besides, being in love with him gave you the power to stop yourself from strangling him.

you watch a lot of shows with him, and his favorite included The Queen’s Gambit and Mrs. Maisel. he preferred lighthearted ones and you loved a good horror movie like the next person, so this leads to fights over the remote.

he always wins, but he doesn’t know how to operate it so he’ll hand it back with a frown.

he soon realizes that he loves cameras, and always carries around one with him because it was one of the few things he managed to learn.

he likes taking pictures of you when you’re not looking, something you were self-conscious about. But after seeing the shots, you were convinced that your husband was born to be a photographer.

FIGHTS

you guys don’t fight much, but when you do, it’s mostly out of misunderstandings.

he’s goofy when he’s alone, but he instantly gets insecure when the marauders come over. (which was frequently.)

you have been close friends with them over the years, but they’re still warming up to Reg.

he’ll stay close to you and only talk when necessary. 

when there’s something fishy, like mentions of your ex or his brother flirting per usual, Regulus would scowl and pull you closer, a gesture that didn’t go unnoticed by anyone.

so I guess it doesn't really count as a fight because it wasn't you he was mad at.

then there’re these times when he doesn't realize he’s doing anything wrong, but actually is.

like he might get busy at work, and hardly talk to you for days, which leads to you overthinking.

Once, he only noticed something was wrong when he saw the concern in your voice as you said “I love you” before you slept, almost as if you’re afraid he won’t say it back.

“Are you okay?” He asked, sitting up and turning on the lamp.

“Of course, I’m just tired,” you whispered, smiling forcefully. He wasn't convinced. He raised an eyebrow as if to say ma’am you can’t lie.

“Fine,” you sighed, closing your eyes. “I’m just so exhausted with my own work and when I come home it’s like you’re not here. You’re obsessed with your own job and skips breakfasts, and sometimes even dinner, I just- don’t want to lose you.”

When you opened your eyes again, he was looking at you with an apologetic smile. Then he held his hand out.

That night, the two of you spent hours talking on the roof, looking at the stars and catching up on life. You may not have slept but it felt like everything was going to be fine again.

SMALL THINGS HE DOES FOR YOU

leaving notes on your mirror, mainly stuff like “you’re brighter than a 1000 stars,” — something so cheesy that you have to smile, which results in looking at the mirror to a happy, loved person, and that was what your husband had intended to do anyway.

he reads to you when you’re sick, and picks out flowers from his garden and leave them by your bedside.

knuckle kisses whenever he could, and he adores it when you give him forehead kisses. 

whenever he hugs you, he’ll sigh contently, as if you’re all he needs.

in the meantime of me working on rcu (regulus cinematic universe), i thought about just sharing some of my own headcanons of other characters who may or may not intervene in regulus's story. these things i will be describing have still happened and are sort of canon in the world where my short stories take place.

please do keep in mind that we all envision marauders & co. in different ways which means my marlene/mary/sirius/remus might not fit your own imagination exactly. i am just opening my imagination to you and you are more than welcome to take whatever fits for your own depiction of the character and leave the rest be. no need for crude words if you do not agree.

now for the star of the show, please welcome dorcas meadowes:

a slytherin queen

definitely poc, in my head she's always been quite short, not petite necessarily but definitely not tall. always felt she would be pan? can't really explain why but it's just a gut feeling?

one of the things that i cannot unsee is that she has very kind eyes? like... i don't know how to really describe it but she's a very sweet and caring person and her eyes just let you know where home is. (i enjoy her casting as laura harrier, she has very memorable beautiful eyes)

peter has an enormous crush on dorcas because she is the way that she is. she sees him - when he's trying to fit in really hard with the guys and is overstepping the line sometimes, or gets ignored by james and sirius.

dorcas picks up on peter's self-esteem issues right away and pays extra attention to him when they are around each other, she tries to talk to him, and engages him in things/conversations/whatever is happening. which just feeds peter's crush even more.

dorcas is intelligent but oblivious. she does not pick up on pete's crush - ever - and she's pretty much the only one. everyone can see it but her.

the guys try to help peter with confessing, but he's too scared she would "politely refuse" and it would be weird between them.

but the marauders, ehm, ehm, james and sirius, try really hard to get him to confess and make peter mad in the process because he told them plenty of times that he doesn't want to. he acts like he's really offended but his silence lasts only for about an hour and then he's joking around with the boys again. he can't help himself.

dorcas's relationship with the marauders is rather complicated. she's neutral towards remus, but she really was not a fan of james and sirius at first. she saw them as mavericks, didn't like how much they would misbehave in class and literally at any other given time. dorcas knew that they had a lot of influence on pete who she saw as very impressionable. she didn't like the influence they had on him, how they shaped him you could say.

but when they grew a bit older and dorcas heard the gossip about what had happened with sirius (she tried to ask regulus about it, but on her relationship with the younger brother later), how james was there for him, how all four of the marauders stuck up for one another... they grew on her.

around year six she became their official friend. sirius was especially fond of her since she was proof that not all slytherins have to be bad people and he would often call her the 'honorary slytherin' at order meetings.

dorcas has a younger brother with who she is not that close, but they still care about each other. his name is wesley, he's a slytherin as well.

wesley never joined the dark side and he never fought in the first wiz. war. he survived it and became an auror to honor dorcas and to make sure that he catches dangerous people sot that nobody has to lose a sister like he did.

wesley ends up marrying a woman called irene. she's from a family full of metamorphmagi but irene only inherited a bit of the gene. she can only change one part of herself - her nose shape.

they have a son together named levi who also inherits the same partial gift and is in slytherin. levi is a year above harry potter. levi ends up having a daughter - aarin dorcas meadowes - who is also partially metamorphmagi, in slytherin and is the same age as albus potter. it's a long story but james sirius and aarin do end up together in the end, it's a wild ride but they are absolutely perfect for one another.

dorcas has a frog! i am not quite sure about the name, but fun fact, avery and rosier put dorcas's frog in mulciber's pants when he's taking a nap in the common room after quidditch practice. regulus is present while it happens and he writes about it in his diary.

regulus is an artsy person. when he was young especially it had been easier to express himself through drawings. he gets better with his words over time. his diary features two drawings of dorcas. playing chess while having her frog in her lap and her running through the hogwarts grounds to hide from the rain hand in hand with pete. regulus sees them from the window in his lesson and as i wrote - everybody but dorcas knows about the crush.

dorcas is also veeeery good at chess. regulus also enjoys chess, so they play matches against each other. there is usually very little talking happening just plain strategy.

but dorcas does like regulus to some extent, there's definitely mutual respect (dorcas is one of the very few people he respects in the school), he's her chess buddy, she smiles and waves at him in the hallways, she's comfortable to sit with him at the slytherin table or at the library while studying.

until he lets it be known that he is fully on the deatheaters side - he's a sixth year and dorcas is in her last year at that point.

she's similar to regulus to a great extent - that's why they gravitated to each other. they are both on the quieter side, big observers, soft-spoken (dorcas all the time, regulus once people get to know him better). both of them hate violence, dorcas tries to avoid conflict as much s possible. she keeps to herself when she has only bad things to say.

but don't get me wrong, when someone pisses her off or does something that steps over the line (and trust me, her line is difficult to overstep, she withstands a lot) her eyes aren't as kind anymore. they can grow very cold suddenly. just as she is understanding with kind eyes, she can turn on her bitch face and be cold as ice.

she'll still be polite to the people she doesn't like (ehm, ehm.. like the marauders at first), she greets them even if they don't greet her back. if she's paired up with them for some exercises or projects, she never lets emotions or some kind of pettiness take over her. she wouldn't try to make their grade worse, hurt them, or embarrass them in front of others to let them know what she thinks of them.

her main reason to join the order and fight to stop the war is the horrible violence that's all around them inflicting pain. she thinks about the little kids at hogwarts, and the ones out there who are too young to even have a wand yet. she thinks of their parents who all must be absolutely terrified for the future of their children. she fights for a brighter future for everyone but families especially. parents can't and shouldn't put themselves in such danger since they have to be there for their kids. so she decides to raise her wand in their place and heads to battle.

inevitably dumbledore pays attention to her and her qualities. so, when he gets a suspicion that they might have a spy amongst them he asks dorcas to pay extra close attention and report back to him if she notices anything strange. she's the only one of the young recruits with a quiet solid nature so dumbledore believes that since she's close with all the youngsters, she'll be more or less able to blend in with the crowd unnoticed, which will allow her to notice possible unusual behavior in the younger ranks. she's probably the best at reading people out of all of them.

dorcas notices that peter has been feeling down a lot lately and tries to speak to him about it. he just says the classic 'it's because of the war, everything is different, it's scary, blablabla'.

but he can't fool her, she knows that something is up, but she would NEVER ever think he could be the spy. never in her wildest dreams. he just does not have the guts to do something like that in her eyes.

but she does follow him to find out what is going on with him. and that's when she comes face to face with voldemort. peter had a meeting with him, it was very early on, maybe like the third time he saw voldemort personally.

voldemort kills dorcas in front of peter and peter feels horrible and blames himself for it.

the marauders and the order think it's because he liked her. that he failed to protect dorcas and regrets not telling her how he felt about her because now she'll never know. that's why they don't grow suspicious about his strange behavior. but that's only a part of why he's distraught.

snape finds out how dorcas died and tells sirius and the rest of the order in 1995, so they finally understand how involved peter truly was.

remus goes to tell her family so that maybe over time they may find peace in knowing what exactly happened to her.
