This is in response to a very old post about Scottish fold cats and I've done research on them so I wanted to give my two cents. There is an ethical way to breed Scottish fold cats, it's just that a lot of breeders are incredibly untrustworthy. Not every fold has the folded ears, and that's perfectly normal. But a lot of breeders know that the folded ones are more popular, and thus turn to inbreeding and other terrible practices, which caused the arthritis to become so common (continued)
The only ethical way for Scottish folds to continue to exist is if breeding is much more regulated to ensure that healthy cats from other breeds are introduced into the gene pool, and to promote the non-folded cats. They still have the round faces, and big eyes the breed is known for, and don’t have to deal with the pain as much. People need to drop the idea that folds must have ear folds if we want these cats to be alive and happy and healthy.
You don’t need to publish any of those I just am someone who thinks about these cats a lot and I want to believe there’s a way they can live without the pain. I want to believe there’s a way to stop them from becoming a nearly lost cause like with the pug. And it makes me very emotional
Yes, absolutely agree with you. I have been trying to raise awareness on Scottish Folds for a while now. Unfortunately, any Scottish Fold with the folded ears will develop debilitating arthritis (from some as young as 8 weeks old) and the only way to continue to ethically breed these cats is to breed the fold out.
hey when was the episode and time during the stolen century when the judges lists off all the future terrible deeds the group would do

Pls tell me all about medieval Russian literature sometime
so now i know SO MUCH about becoming a monk
the first medieval russian literature was all saint’s lives, right, and it was usually copied from byzantine stuff and followed format pretty nicely. but heres the cool part: russia developed unique texts waaaaaay faster than many other european civilizations that had a writing system introduced to them.
cos a lot of places were illiterate, right? with not much of a unified writing system until some empire came in and delivered unto them some kind of religion, and said religion usually came part and parcel with latin. with latin, these people had to learn to speak and read and write it, and often took a while to start writing their own unique stuff rather than just translating things back and forth
russia developed its written-only original tales pretty quick, because it had a special language that was given to it when it unified! i feel pretty confident there was some kind of non-unified writing system before, but when the Byzantines came in to christianize, they made up an alphabet just for the Slavs to used, based on their spoken language so there was no need for any literati to waste time learning a new language, just a new writing system! it really sped up the birth of literature
though surviving/preserved copies of secular stories took a while to exist, this was mostly used for making original saints lives they would spread around
