Younglings
“What's wrong with you?” Bælfir demanded huffily. “Can't you talk? Are you thick?”
“I'm not thick,” the boy snapped back quietly.
“Found your voice, then. Do you have a name as well?” The other smirked, perhaps a little triumphantly. He always loved knowing something smart he’d said was annoying someone else - and half the time they wouldn’t touch a hair on his head in response, because they knew who he was and which family was responsible for him. This one was different though.
The boy with the bandage frowned, looking a bit put-out, but mumbled a reply anyway. “Ayen.”
“Ayen who?”
“Just Ayen.”
“Ah. So you're a slave.”
“M'not a slave.”
“Your accent isn't Imperial. Bet you are.”
“I'm not a slave, and I don't like you.” He spun around, fists balled at his sides, and made to leave. Bælfir lunged forward and grabbed him by the elbow.
“Wait. Who were you running from before? Did you run away from your master?” Another grin crept across his face. “You're pretty puny for an apprentice. And you look like a girl. You've got to be a slave.”
A little bit of colour rose in his pale cheeks. “I don't look like a girl...”
“You're pretty like one.” His grip slackened, but only to take Ayen by the hand instead, and give him a small tug. “Come on. We'll find a place for you to hide.”
The other boy game him a frown, mistrust in his pale grey eyes. “You dunno I'm trying to hide...”
“I do too. You smell like fear.” He puffed his chest up a little, “the Force tells me so.”
“So if you think I'm a runaway slave, why are you helping me?”
“Because I'm bored, and this might be exciting. So come on, Just Ayen.” He gave Ayen's hand a tug, and without any good reason to argue, the other finally relented and they slipped off through the crowds of the plaza into the sidelanes. Some of the ones between the larger government buildings were so slim a grown man would have to slide in sideways, but the two boys could run easily one in front of the other, Bælfir's hand still closed tightly around Ayen's and getting clammy. They went in no meaningful direction; just further into the thick of the city, keeping away from the main street along the plaza balcony.
“If you're not a slave,” Bælfir called back, tossing his white-haired head around for a brief look, “who are you running away from?”
Ayen bit his lip, glancing down at their feet thumping the pavement as they ran. The spires of the Imperial Reserve Bank and a security barracks cast deep shadows over them in the long cold afternoon light. “I’m an acolyte... but my master, h, he's in a bad mood,”
“Ooh.” The echani nodded knowingly. “One of those Sith. My Master tells me about them. Hey says they'll bring the Empire to ruin with their tempers alone.”
He blinked. “Is he different from other Sith?”
“Does he beat you?”
A small pause. “Yes, lots,”
“My Master is Darth Arostos. He doesn't ever hit me. But he says I'm lucky to have a refined Sith like him as my teacher.”
“What's refined?”
“It's when you're better than everyone else.”
I decided to have Bælfir and Reithan meet as young-uns in the Empire, when they were nine or so. The result was cuter than I expected.

"Boy."
"He's gone now. But he gave us purpose. Purpose we didn't use." Ayen tilted his head. "You know it's the truth. You were supposed to be The Ormus. The Bringer of Agony, the Bridge Between Worlds. The Father and the Son of the Gate. Deep in your soul you know this. You know what you were made for yet you tried to be different. Tried to be good? You hate it, don't you? You hate knowing your destiny was fixed. That in the end you still came here, and this was meant to happen. That everything you tried to do amounted to..."
The sight of her tore at his eyes, yet he could not look away, for he had none. Her weight and her presence was terrible. He couldn't move, he couldn't fight. Her moist body trapped him to the riverbed, the water of which was warm and consuming. He couldn't speak, couldn't even cry out - a scream choked in his throat, unable to come out, the horror shutting out his mind and lagging his response.

I’m either posting single-author stuff on the forum or posting RP from the backlog I have from before I had my full-time job.
My full-time job which is turning out to be soooo much more admin than art-teaching.

Stabat Mater
Gore erupted outward into the water. Thrax's arm twitched, and he flexed his fingers. The sensors in his claw registered nothing in his hands. Reithan drifted. He stared up into Thrax's blood-red eye, his whole body feeling numb, and cold, and he didn't understand. He had him. He had him. Right where he wanted him. Why couldn't he move...? He turned his head down, and saw the arm buried up to the elbow in his stomach. Reithan wretched. Blood blossomed out of his mouth along with the last of his air. It was only then that he'd he'd lost, and he was dying. No. It started as a thought, but as Miller started sprinting towards the water, ripping the robe from his shoulders, he realized he was yelling it, "No, no, NO!!" Reithan's eyes widened. One hand wrapped around the elbow, against his gut. No. The power trickled away from him, and boyish, primal fear rose in his already glassy gaze. He thought he heard someone screaming. One last look was given to him, from a single organic eye. Regret was in Darth Thrax's gaze... but framed in pure hate, as everything was with him. His arm was withdrawn, and he let the boy go. To the depths... and take my humanity with you. One last feeble swipe was all he could manage as the Thrax cast him away. It didn't hurt much – just a little, but only dull, foggy, in the background. Everything else was... pointless, hazed, nothing. As his dead metal legs dragged him down into the dark and the cold Reithan stared at his one last failure, escaping from him one last time. As his chest heaved and he involuntarily sucked in a lungful of water, he saw the two moons, Ashla and Bogan, rippling at him from beyond the surface far, far above, though they couldn't possibly be there. As he choked, and writhed involuntarily, and as his body kept trying and failing to breathe, he saw Miller's grin, Aolanni's veil, Silooni's laugh, Audaine's hands stroking delicately over his eyes and lips and then her belly, as she asked him 'what will we call her?'. Then the world fell away, and the pain was finally gone, and he saw nothing.
