“It’s Always Book Time”
(Hank Walker. 1957?)
6th September
I woke up and didn't really feel like myself today. So, I made some tea, did a bit of work and then cancelled my day and had a nap. Sometimes we all need a bit of tender love and care, especially during these dire times.
There's cats in faculty meetings and then there's my cat.
Description: screenshot of a Zoom meeting with fourteen participants, their names and faces blurred for privacy. In one of the boxes, the human face wasn't blurred because it is completely concealed by a cat who is sitting on the human's lap positioned exactly as though he is the meeting participant. The cat is orange and white, very large, and looks a little worried.
Lunch Break...One Shot
Being allowed to teach from home, you experience a very different kind of lunch break.

You were beyond excited that Chris asked you to move in with him but even more excited knowing you would be able to teach from home when the school year began. However, the one question that popped into your head was…where were you going to teach from? Did he even have an office for you to use?
You know from past interviews he did he was either in his kitchen or his bedroom. Now that would be a deadly mistake teaching from the bedroom. You guessed that question would be answered soon enough.
Chris was like a 5-year-old in a candy store when the moving van arrived at his house. Once the van was parked, the moving people started to unload your belongings. Since you did not have much, Chris explained where certain things would go. About 2 hours later, all your possessions were moved in. You and Chris plopped down on the couch. He leaned over giving you a kiss on the cheek before he left going into the kitchen.
He came back with two glasses of wine. “Here’s to our new beginning together. I still can’t believe you are here. You have made me so happy. I love you so my darling.”
He leaned over again but this time placed a passionate kiss on your lips, you deepening the kiss as Chris moved on top of you. You pushed your body upward trying to relieve the friction between your legs as he pushed down into your wet core. You opened your legs as you felt his bulge through his pants as you both started to move in heated passion. Then suddenly, he just stopped as he grabbed you from the couch.
“Chris what the hell. I was beginning to enjoy myself and from the look of things (you glanced down at his bulge) you were too. So, what gives…Christopher?” You stood there with your hands on your hips.
“Oh, so that is how it’s going to be. When you are mad at me you are going to call me Christopher like my mom. I swear you women are all alike.” He stopped and chuckled before you threw a pillow at him.
“Yes, I was enjoying myself immensely but I have a surprise for you. I hope you like it?” He grabbed your hand leading you to part of the house you haven’t seen before. There you stood in front of a door.
“Close your eyes darling and don’t open them until I tell you to.” Chris moved in close behind you, his bulge still apparent as you hear him fiddle with the doorknob before helping you move forward.
He leaned in real close almost in a whisper. “Open your eyes. Surprise!”

Fall meant I had to deal with leaf blowers while teaching remote, Winter meant that I had to compete with snow blowers, and today in Spring...it's chainsaws...
Surely, some of you are well-versed in online teaching already. Any suggestions for resources to up my game? Books, lectures, anything? I know how to use Google Classroom and the other G Suite stuff, it’s just the whole “coming up with lessons” thing. Should I make an Instagram? A Twitter?
