Sirius was born into a family that expected complacency, conformity and purity. A family with a long history, dating back to the beginning of Wizardry. But Sirius wasn’t about that life.
Rebellious, different and a danger to the family’s good name. Sirius was everything that the Blacks feared from a child.
The tight straightjacket that had been forced around him only made him less inclined to follow the rules and regulations that had been laid out for him by his mother and father. He became scum in their eyes.
That was only amplified when he found himself sorted to Gryffindor in a family that had exclusively been sorted in Slytherin. It cast him out even further. So he had to find a family of his own, where his blood had cast him aside.
He found that family in James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, who not only became his friends but his brothers.
It wasn’t long until he was literally cast from his family. He had to seek refuge with the Potters, who kindly took him in. This did wonders for Sirius, who had never lived in a loving home.

The looks of disgust and hatred in his family’s eyes and the sheer lack of love and support from his brother, his blood, tore him apart. He spent an entire week on a bender, hopping from place to place and taking whatever he could into his body to ease the pain. He got out of it a week later with a tattoo he didn’t remember getting, a sore head and more marks on his body than he cared for. And he recollected none of it. As if he had been a different person for an entire week. This was also the start of his withdrawal from a more modal, normal life. This was the start of his nomadic ways. End of TW.
Now, after Hogwarts, Sirius is ‘between occupations’. Or rather, a lazy arse. Working on his projects and generally mooching off James.
He’s turned out a loyal if somewhat arrogant young stud with a streak for the mischievous and inappropriate. He is a fiercely loving friend and a passionate individual with a great love for life.
The boiling under the surface of the Wizarding World has seemingly little effect on him. He fights for his friends and for his own freedom. But the greater picture is lost on him.
He doesn’t want to be involved in the war, but the pull his friends have of him have caused his involvement. He wants as little to do with the Dark Side and Purebloods as he can. Because he knows that down that line, he’ll have to face people he considers blood. And he doesn’t know if he’s quite ready for that.
A few tidbits of headcanon.
Sirius’ disillusion with the Pureblood wizarding world has given him an intense interest in all things muggle, especially motor vehicles. You hardly spot him in Diagon Alley, because the world behind the world of Muggles has lost his interest.
He’s quite the mechanic and spends most of his free time working on cars, motorcycles, scooters and the like. It’s a way for him to disconnect from the world and spend some time in his own head.
He doesn’t have a permanent place to stay and prefers it that way, travelling around gives him room to think and find himself. Because he feels a little lost. His friends ground him, but sometimes that’s just not enough.
He has a very unique sense of style, wearing just about anything that will or won’t fit him, in no particular combination. He’s fond of hats, buttons and pins, as well as patches. His patches often refer to muggle social and economic issues, leaving many wizards guessing what he’s wearing.
He spents almost a third of his time in his animagus form, wandering the streets of British towns and cities. It’s much easier blending in as a stray dog.

Emmeline definitely comes off as a bit of an asshole/hardass, she was a prefect in school and she was gald to be so because she knew she held a position of power without abusing it to hurt people and she knows in times like these, that’s important. She wouldn’t say she’s a good person, mostly due to self esteem issues, but she wouldn’t say she’s a bad person either. When it comes to herself, she has a ton of insecurities, learned not to let them keep her from speaking up through years of building herself up. Not to let them fuck her up because in the end she is the only one she’s got. People leave, and it hurts, but always expecting the worst, preparing for it, is better than being blindsided by it. Emmeline learned that the hard way when her mother, who she took care of for years even through the abuse, left Emmeline the minute she could. If her own mother left her, what would stop anyone else from it? In school, the first few years it was hard, she was constantly forcing herself to speak up but didn’t do so effectively until she got those positions of powers. One thing Emmeline ALWAYS did was stand up for other people. For herself? Not so much. Something she still struggles with now but in a less insidious way.
Speaking of her mother, halfway through her sixth year her mother left, leaving her to handle all the affairs, bills, etc. Definitely went through a stage after her mother left in her sixth year where she was lashing out at everyone around her verbally and probably didn’t apologize for it but showed she was apologetic in her actions, how she talked, and is really bad at apologizing for her own shitty behavior. Due to being a Scorpio & her upbringing, she’s bad at apologizing when she ACTUALLY does something wrong due to the shame she feels, thinking she’s acting just like her mother. She justifies it a lot, but also beats herself up about it. Emme really has grown a lot as a person since then and will continue to do so. Still, will OCCASIONALLY drink, if ever but has never smoked or done drugs in her life. She really hates being out of control in any sense, especially because of how her mother was drunk, and when she does go to events, gets really gets sort of appalled by people getting plastered and associates it with her mother. Emmeline is judgemental, but she’s able to challenge those judgements with logic, still, she’s quick to judge.
She’s so grateful for the few friends she has, especially the ones that keep her in line and challenge her. The ones who show her kindness when she needs it and she doesn’t even know she needs it. If you have Emmeline as a friend, you have Emmeline as a friend for LIFE. She’s loyal to the core, she will fight by your side ( something she’s excellent at doing with a wand ), she will die for them and show a softer, sillier side. It’s still extremely hard for her to open up and most of them didn’t know about her home life in school ( most still don’t to this day, as she hates sharing it ), though for the first six years of Emmeline coming to school, there were definitely bruises, scars, and things that could tip them off that something wasn’t quite alright. But she never ever wanted to talk about it because the pity she got after her father ended his life made things harder tenfold. She doesn’t want to be pitied, seen as weak or anything of the sort, especially by people who’s opinion she actually cares about.
Showed kindness to younger students and played wizarding chess with them, especially the ones bullied. The ones she notice may have bad home lives and no one to be there for them. Angry, is just one word to describe how she feels about the fact that Dumbledore probably knows about a majority of the hurt / bullying that goes on in and out of Hogwarts and doesn’t seem to do a damn thing about it – so she figures taking matters into her own hands by at least doing something is worth a try. It would be awesome if she had a chess partner or someone she played chess with though that was her own age. Her father played chess with her growing up, and it’sA HUGE PART of the reason why she makes an excellent strategist for the Order and why she’s an excellent dueler now.
Emmeline blossomed her seventh year being Captain of the Dueling Club. For the first few years of Emmeline’s life at Hogwarts, she was very shy, very to herself, due to the trauma of losing her father, but when she discovered her gift with dueling it helped bring out a side of Emmeline that she didn’t even know she had. To say she’s gifted would be an understatement in this area, and it’s not just natural talent, it’s hardwork, it’s dedication, it’s the fact that she feels powerful and like she can take on all of her demons when she’s wielding a wand. It’s that with having such an ability, she saw a way out of her horrible home life & a future. Something a girl who’s used to just surviving never thought she’d be able to have, It was that, combined with the fact the world was so horrible that Emmeline realized she wanted to be an Auror when she heard of the profession. She’s willing to die to make the world a better place, a part of her wants to hunt down every dark wizard that’s made this magical world WORSE and Albus Dumbledore has already approached her about joining the Order after graduation.
IF I had to pick a label for her, it would be The Dark Knight. THE DARK KNIGHT label fits Emmeline Vance because whatever it takes to make the world a better place. Each of the character influences above have bent, broken, or disregarded the law entirely to help their friends or the people in need move forward and succeed. To get what they deserve. The LAW has never helped Emmeline, it has never been on her side, it has never saved her from the hurt she’s experienced when it should’ve – so she doesn’t believe in it. Even with her being an Auror, Emmeline hopes to be able to take advantage of that power to do more than what the law dictates. Working within the SHADOWS comes naturally to Emmeline having to be a shadow in her own home for several years, learning the benefit of quiet survival. Of quiet rebellion & quiet living. She likes to work behind the scenes to do what she needs to in this war because that’s going to be a way she survives it. It’s the way the people she cares about & those who deserve it might as well. She doesn’t like any of the attention she may get just for doing the right thing because, in her mind, doing the RIGHT THING shouldn’t be praised – it should be the standard.
This isn’t to say that Emmeline is a paragon of righteousness – maybe of her own brand of it, yes, but she doesn’t always do the right thing. Sometimes, Emmeline can do the very wrong thing thinking it is the right thing – much like many of the characters above. There’s a guilt that comes with it, one she suppresses because it’s not helpful, though it comes POURING out into the same fuel that caused her to fuck up in the first place. There is a cost of working in the shadows, of being so self sacrificing but she’s willing to pay it if means the world is better, lighter, happier, more equal. Her life, in the grand scheme of things, means nothing compared to the good she can make by sacrificing everything for it. Even her life. Emmeline is a fighter, a survivor, and everyone’s survival looks a little bit like death sometimes. She is not afraid to embrace the dark, to become the dark, if it means the world gains a little light.

emmeline’s sexuality is confusing, she’s probably pan/bi but all she knows is she’s not straight and is sometimes interested in sex. regarding their gender, emme has never connected to either gender, of course because it’s the 70′s, she doesn’t know of a term for what that is. frankly, she has better things to think about than something like that but the idea of talking about it is strange to her, weird. self conscious, especially. since she’s a survivor at heart, she’s learned to compartmentalize these feelings & thoughts, and will just push it away for another time when she can actually have time to think about it. to unpack it.
emmeline speaks french and english!! she’s not connected to being part chinese at all as she really didn’t get really any education from her family about it and tbh lived in a very white area and sort of assimilated to it. she has small memories, does go to/has gone to chinese new year events and has TRIED, but feels disconnected in everything besides the food. regarding this though, her dad’s from a v important pureblood family in china, he anglonized & changed his last name for Dorcas’ and his families protection ( there was a HELLA lot going on ) & so they could start fresh somewhere.

Benji was born into a bit of a harsh family. He was expected to be like his father; detached, masculine, tough, and manipulative when needed. He was also expected to be like his mother; cold, poised, and charming. It was hard to be those things when he always felt constricted in his own skin.
But the one thing that kept him going was his baby sister. She was his pride and joy, the one thing that brought light to a terrible life of dark. His halfblooded family might as well be pureblooded considering how he was treated, especially after his father remarried.
Love wasn’t something he knew very well, nor was it something he wanted to know. When his Pureblooded father remarried, he married a pureblooded woman. In that family he was nothing. He was the lesser of the group, the less deserving of anything at all. He also acted out and did terrible things to get the pressure off of his sister. He wanted her to be seen as the angel while he was the bad guy.
Not going into much detail, but things grew worse and so did he. He felt into bad habits and started making terrible choices, but everything things when he was contacted by the Order. There was finally something he could do, something he could achieve.
Benj wanted to help innocent people and save whoever he could. He does a good job at bring some light to the group. He jokes around to hide how damaged he truly is on the inside... and he’s going to do everything he can to kill the bad guys.

Narcissa is highly intelligent. She plays the perfect wife, the perfect daughter, the perfect woman because she knows it makes people respect her and see something that they want to be or want to have.
Growing up, she was used to putting on a facade to please her family. It’s why she was considered so perfect. As tiring as it may be, she knows that in the future this fake assumption these people have will come in handy.
Nobody truly knows the real her, and it’s something that makes her feel powerful. With having so much of her life thrust into the war, she needs to have some sort of hold in it.
(a little random headcanon) Narcissa wears a necklace that her mother gave her as a little girl. It’s a tiny pearl necklace, and when she got it she was so excited. Gifts were some of her favorite things to have, until she realized what it truly represents. It’s the hold her mother has on her. The hold she has on her entire life up to this very moment. Whenever her mother is in the same room with her, it almost feels as if the necklace is too tight. It’s something she hasn’t had the bravery to take off yet.
Family does mean everything to her. She truly loves her husband and vice versa. When she has a baby, she will protect them above all else. Even Bellatrix has a place in her heart despite how crazy she may be. And Andromeda... cissa loves her but she can never show it.

okay so same deal, i haven’t played alecto in a very long time and i’m still kinda fleshing her out, so these are just the basics for now. you can expect some edits and additions in the near future.
so basically the carrows were not super wealthy or influential or anything, they lost most of their social standing quite a few years back, before alecto was born but they clung desperately to their pride. the fact that they carried a name of the sacred 28, made them superior to most of the wizarding world.
as a result, alecto was instilled with a very strong sense of pride and ambition. alecto very much has a ‘better than you’ attitude and acts as though she’s above everyone else.
that said, she has a lot of insecurities. she feels it’s her responsibility to restore her family’s legacy and is a bit of a social climber. she can be a little rough around the edges, but she tries to hide that in order to gain the approval of the other pureblood families.
kinda idolizes the black sisters, bellatrix in particular. despises andromeda for literally having it all and choosing to walk away from that.
honestly kind of a flirt. a bit of a femme fatale type, her obsession with social climbing has led to her adopting that kind of personality and she kinda revels in seducing people and using them for her own gain.
definitely not at the point we see her in the books where she’s lets face it, full on psycho who enjoys torture and murder but she’s definitely getting there. she’s very passionate about the death eater cause and would do pretty much anything to prove her value. for sure wouldn’t have much hesitation in doing whatever was asked of her 100% would not hesitate to kill a bitch if they came near her brother.

music: narcissa has played the piano since she was five years old. it is the one thing in her life that has always been constant. she’s terrific at it, and often when she’s feeling emotional she’ll turn to piano to feel better.
occlumency: a skilled occlumens, this is one talent narcissa keeps a secret. her eldest sister is also an occlumens, and it was from her that narcissa’s want to learn sprouted.
lying: it was a big part of her childhood. being the baby of the family, narcissa was incredibly spoiled when she was a little girl. her father was quite absent most of the time but her mother doted on her like crazy. narcissa, however, wasn’t a fan of the doting. she preferred to be by herself, and was annoyed by her mother constantly being around her. but, she felt ungrateful, and therefore put up a front of enjoying all the spoiling and attention because she wanted to make her parents happy. she carried this with her throughout her life, often telling people something for the sake of their happiness and not meaning it at all.
PERSONALITY:
narcissa’s personality is complex
she was a sickly child. her parents weren’t young when she was conceived, and because of this she was born a month and a half premature. this lead to breathing issues and when she was a girl she fell sick with pneumonia every winter. her constant illness displeased her father (he didn’t want a weak child. never mind the fact that narcissa was his last chance at a male heir and she was ... well ... a she) and worried her mother. this caused her to have a lot of independence issues. she leaned on her older sisters and her mother a lot, and avoided her father like the plague.
spoiled to high heaven that girl was. she wanted for nothing, and got everything she could ever ask for. to say she didn’t enjoy it would be a lie. it was nice getting all the new dresses she wanted and fancy toys and the latest models of brooms. but it made her feel like she owed her parents something.
in her heart she truly is kind. you can tell in the way that she interacts with the people she cares about. her heart is in the right place, but kindness often coexists with being impressionable, which she definitely was. because of her constant exposure to her mother due to being bedridden, and the fact that she was often told she was weak because of her health, she had prejudiced and racist ideals forced upon her from a young age and soaked them up like a sponge. she grew up being taught that anybody besides those of pure blood were equal to nothing. she didn’t know why, but she never questioned it for fear of angering her parents whom she loved so dearly. the only person who ever questioned anything in their family was andromeda, and that ended with her being disowned and burnt off the family tree.
she’s ??? really emotionally repressed ??? i mean what black family member isn’t, really, but she takes it to an entirely new level
because of her father’s hard (literal and figurative) hand and her mother’s doting, narcissa was raised with a weird combination of parenting techniques that left her feeling as if she deserved everything the world had to offer while simultaneously being angry with herself for expecting that.
this turned her into a very torn up young woman. pack teenage angst on top of a feeling of both inferiority and superiority and you get somebody who doesn’t know how to handle their emotions at all
she wasn’t really that pretty when she was young. she wasn’t unattractive by any means, but she had stringly, bleach blonde hair and large doe-eyes that made her look slightly otherworldly. her pointed features were slightly covered by a layer of baby fat. she wasn’t anything special, anyways. it broke her mother’s heart that she wasn’t as beautiful as her sisters had been at that age.
super elegant and polite. she’s the definition of classy and her manners are far above those of most people her age. she was taught to always respect her elders and slip-ups in the manners department usually resulted in a smack from her father so she grew to be very good with them.
barely smiles because smiling causes wrinkles and also lowkey she has nothing to smile about ?? her life is a mess
a+ at hiding her feelings. she’s a closed book. it’s “unrefined” to feel much of anything so she prefers to put up a cold and judgmental front that keeps people away. getting close to somebody means eventually having to open up and she has way too much secret baggage. trunks and trunks full. this is what makes being married to lucius so difficult, because he likes to know everything and she doesn’t like people knowing anything about her.
loves kids. so much. she would have loved to work with children but having a job is for lower class women and mudbloods. it’s much better for her status-wise to just be a pretty thing on lucius’ arm than to actually act like she has a mind of her own. she was never allowed to have one growing up so why change now ???
she’s very set in her ways because they’re all she’s known and it’s easier to be the way she always has been than to try and change now. deep down she wants to, because she doesn’t like who she is that much (surprisingly. you’d never know it because she seems very conceited) but going against the norm of how she was raised is not only frowned upon, but dangerous.
too loyal for her own good. it’s what’s kept her devoted to a terrible cause and her terrible family her entire life. she believes strongly in the power of forgiveness, if not for the other person than for yourself.
she’s very protective of those she cares about. namely, her parents and bella. she would gladly lay her life on the line for her family and not bat an eye.
despite this her personality has a lot of negatives too. she is definitely prejudiced. regardless of whether she wants to change deep down, she is still very terrible to those she views as being “below her” --- aka, anyone who isn’t also from a rich, pureblood family. she isn’t directly cruel to them, but she’s mastered the art of backhanded compliments very well and uses them often.
believes herself to be better than most people, especially when it comes to looks. because she was so average for so long, when she finally grew into her sharp features and large doe-eyes she had a moment of clarity about how beautiful she really was. she knows she’s gorgeous and isn’t afraid to flaunt it, quite arrogantly might i add.
OTHER:
she has more money than she knows what to do with, so she makes very large, anonymous donations to groups known to be against the dark lord. mostly orphanages for mudblood and halfblood children who had their parents killed in the war.
publicly she also makes donations to many organizations, to help keep up the image of her and lucius whilst he does shady things under the table, such as ... y’know ... being a death eater. their philanthropic work keeps them in the good books of the higher ups, and makes them harder to pin for crimes that are blamed on the dark lord’s followers. after all, why would they help fund a new initiative for tracking death eaters if they were involved themselves ???
narcissa hasn’t taken the mark herself. she doesn’t have any desire to. she prefers to watch from the sidelines and take a neutral stance that is still supportive of the blood purists. she figures that, if the dark lord falls, it will be easier for she and lucius to keep their comfortable lives if one of them is “completely disassociated” from that life style.
her parents married her off to lucius malfoy as a political move, similarly to bellatrix’s marriage to rodolphus lestrange.
she has settled into her role of being lucius’ trophy wife well. while she doesn’t love him or find herself attracted to him, she’s good at keeping up an image. in public she seems like a beautiful, complacent, well-bred wife. behind closed doors she rarely speaks to him unless she really has to, because there are aspects of his personality that remind her of her father and that frightens her.
she loves dogs, and has an afghan hound named dionysus.
collects brooches. you will never see her wearing an outfit without a statement brooch.

-- The above should probably be more specific, Sev’s insecure about most things, but not his intelligence. He’s an advanced student with a lot of talent and he knows it. In fact, he’s downright cocky about it.

-- He didn’t want to study Potions, necessarily, he wanted to distance himself from his family as much as possible. When he realized that he had a knack for it, that he found confidence in the mastery, he gave up fighting and threw himself into the course.
--He’s really neat with his things. He’s not the cleanest guy, he’ll often neglect things like dusting and vacuuming to read / learn / brew a new potion.
--He’s not afraid to say that he hates his father, the feeling so viscerally real inside him that it’s become part of who he is, but he won’t explain why even if people would understand. He has a soft spot for his mother but he does not talk about it under any circumstances ever.
