This rental listing scam is on the rise and catching people off guard

Renters need to be careful when using websites like Kijiji and Craigslist when looking for rentals. Scammers are the hunt for anyone that's desperate to rent. This also includes vacation rentals for properties in cottage country. They post the rent price below market value and using listing photos found on the internet. Here are four things to watch out for: 1. Can't meet in person 2. Rent price below market value 3. Ask for a Security deposit 4. Tell you to wire funds. An example of a rental scam: My fiancee and I were looking for apartments in California from NY (when we thought that we were going to move there, LOL), and we came across many rental scams. There were many reasons why we didn't trust this person:

His name 

Asking us to send money before sending us keys

He conveniently couldn't show us the apartment when we moved to Cali because they are out of town

The mention of God

Perfectly staged apartment pictures

The only picture of the outside of the property was that from Google Maps/Earth...

But mostly the wording from this person who clearly doesn't speak English as their first language.
