You said you take requests... but do you have any tips on how to work up the courage to actually post the writing. I don't have a single problem with art because of a saying that I live by, but for some reason writing I just can't work up the courage. I have like seven stories done but I swear they are terrible and one of my friends told me that too so now I feel like I shouldn't post it if it's just going to be hated anyway. So yeah any tips, please and thank you!

For me, when it comes to tips for posting requests (I don't get many [only 2 and the second one is rotting in my drafts lol I need to work on that one]) a great thing to keep in mind is that if anyone gives you any hate, you can just delete it LMAO. If someone writes a mean comment you can just get rid of it. It's your post. If you can't figure out how to delete it, you can just ignore it. It isn't there bro (I'm hypnotizing you, the mean comments aren't there).

Another thing for the writing itself, you can write whatever you want. A common line for artists is that they can draw whatever they want, and you can do that for writing too!! It's kinda why I have 3 long fics to write...... with another one on the way in the Forsaken fandom....... lmao save me from myself /j

If someone you know irl says something mean or that you don't like about it, you can always keep writing. Improve to prove them wrong. Spite is a great motivator /lh

Tip Tuesday | Request Tips for Readers

Hello cats and kittens!!  It is another Tip Tuesday.  I have previously done one of these from a writer’s perspective but this is more for readers/followers’ perspectives.  Which is helpful for writers, so here we go.

1. Read the FAQ/guidelines before you request.  Many writers note whether 1) they are currently taking requests and 2) what they will or will not write.  Writers don’t write these guideline to read their own words, they write them to keep requests manageable and to make sure they are writing things they want to write.  So read the FAQs.

2. Overly vague and overly specific requests for not as helpful.  So unless the request guidelines specify otherwise, really broad requests are hard to write.  At least for me personally.  I need parameters.  Otherwise, I could write anything with the prompt of “Tom Hiddleston is doing a play when he meets the reader” or “Loki dances with the reader”.  And on the other hand, if you are having to send multiple asks for a single request because there is so much detail, is a big turn-off for many writers.  If you know that much about the story, you should write it yourself.  Rule of Thumb: keep your requests to a single ask give a small amount of plot (or a conflict point) but don’t box the writer in with lots of details and specifics.

3. Once you have requested, don’t check in to see when it will get written.  The number #1 to get me move your request to the bottom of my list is to ask me a status update.  It triggers my rebel tendency. It triggers a lot of people’s rebel tendency.  Writers already feel bad about not getting things done, they don’t need you reminding them of their inadequacies.  Be patient, be kind.  

4. If a request didn’t turn out how you hoped, don’t give constructive criticism.   Once you put your request out into the universe, you no longer get the say on how it is written.  It becomes the writer’s creation.  And you tell them it wasn’t what you want, serves no purpose other than to make you an asshole.  If it is important that the story be written a specific way, then write it yourself.  

5. If your request is denied, don’t harass the writer to get them to change their mind. Go back up to #1, read it, got it?  Okay, moving on.  The FAQs usually will tell you what writers DO NOT write too.  And there are many reasons why writers don’t write certain things. Which they are not obligated to tell you why.  Maybe they don’t think they can do justice to the topic, maybe it is a squick, maybe it’s a trigger.  But you pushing the issue may be at best annoying the writer and at worst, triggering a traumatic event.  So adhere to the number one rule of fandom: don’t be a dick.

Tip Tuesday | Requests

So you are plodding along, posting, reblogging and suddenly what this?  Something in your Inbox?  An ask?  Some compliment?  Even better... a story request.  Holy hell, who are you going to tell with an ask?  Here are some tips.

Tip #1:  You don’t have write requests if you don’t want to.  Not all fanfic writers write requests.  Totally okay.  If you are not comfortable with writing requests, just politely decline and I would suggest putting in your bio that you don’t take requests to avoid any further awkwardness.

Tip #2: Set parameters for requests.  The little sister of the Tip #1.  Don’t write anything you don’t want to write. If you are going to write requests, you get to decide what you want to write.  No smut?  Cool.  No RPF?  awesome. No reader inserts?  You go.  Set clear guidelines for yourself and stick to them.

Tip #3: You don’t have to write these requests right away.  There is I said it.  I am giving you permission to not write the request right away.  There is often pressure to write requests right now.  I think that can be a bad thing for a couple reasons.  1) It sets a precedent that you are going to do that every day.  Woah hello pressure.  No one needs that, honey.  2) If you push yourself to write before you are ready, the story isn’t going to be as good.  Write when you are ready.  

Tip #4:  You can modify a request to fit your style or idea.  There is nothing wrong with tweaking a request to suit you.  A great example of this, I got a great angst request.  I love the idea, but it was really dark. I love happy endings, I don’t like sad endings.  So I wrote the angsty story but made it a happy ending.  The requester still liked the story.

Tip #5: Close your requests when you get overwhelmed.  I am the cautionary tale for this.  If you scrolled down on my blog, you can see where I answered all my requests.  I currently have 27 pending requests. That is insane.  I should have closed them a long time but I didn’t.  I think I felt guilty.  They are closed now because I am need to get through these.

hi! sorry about the late answer, i could write this someday when i'm less busy, but as a forewarning, or extra info about my writing style, when i'm writing smut about a member i'm personally not sexually attracted to, i put myself in the 'director's seat' to gauge what the audience wants instead of what i want, so these works of mine don't do as well as the smut pieces i write of the members i am sexually attracted to where i put my wants first, so the outcome might be very different from my other recent works where i've only written for the members that i am interested in. so in this case, for your request, i am interested in yuta but not sexually interested in hendery, fluff is fine, i can imagine him as a boyfriend and what not, but sexually not so much, which is why i haven't been writing about other nct members these days. so do you still want to read this pairing, bub?
