In many ways, wielding a blade was like playing a musical instrument. Bandaged steel wasn’t quite as delicate as strings, but with all the swordsman’s great strength he funneled it into precise and punishing strikes. For something that’s mastery was considered an art, its product wasn’t beautiful. A cacophony of screeching metal against sabers and bullets echoed throughout the cavern. With a sword in each fist and one between his teeth, he belayed all attacks while launching his own until they made their mark. One last explosion of gunfire proved to be fruitless, and Zoro, still standing, among the fallen 25 or so marines remained. Silence followed, as he took the meito from his teeth and surveyed the damage to the steel walls.

If this is had been a ‘seek and destroy’ mission, he could have taken care of this on his own. The problem was that somewhere within this base, the crew’s doctor, Chopper, was being detained under arrest. As much as Zoro just wanted to knock the place down and go get him, it wouldn’t be wise to put his fellow pirate at risk. He wasn’t worried about the little guy too much, Chopper was tough. However, flattening a marine base created other problems. The Straw Hat’s were a formidable bunch, but they did not want to deal with any stronger marines that might be on their way. They needed to rescue their comrade, and get out of there as soon as possible.

The sound of approaching footsteps rang in the hanger, and Zoro knew who was entering the room before he turned around.

“Where the hell have you been?” He asked the cook, gruffly. He could give him shit about it later, but in the present they needed to find Chopper.

“You see anything? These guys were guarding that door over there.” He nodded to the latched door ahead, while scabbarding all blades except Shusui.
