DC AU: Sapphire Beetle

Codename: Sapphire Beetle (Based on Blue Beetle)
While her and her family were on a trip to their private island, Reshma found an odd-looking scarab on shore. When she touched it, it bonded with her, attaching to her spine and allowing her to have a powerful exoskeleton suit.
Initially, Reshma had little control of the scarab, causing it to randomly crawl onto her back and treated small annoyances as huge threats. She had to teach it not to react negatively to her family. Her parents were initially worried and wondered how to take it off without hurting their daughter. Still, they were very proud of their daughter when she became a hero, even if it scares the hell out of them.
Reshma's first save was by accident. While back in India, she ran into a robbery happening and the scarab crawled onto her back and turned her into Sapphire Beetle. While it initially took control, Reshma was able to keep it from using lethal violence. They soon began saving people with the scarab's help.
At D.C. her friends have gotten used to Reshma talking to her scarab, even if nobody else can see or hear it. She often has to stop the scarab from using plasma cannons for every single problem. Still, it only does so because it wants to protect her. Also, it's helped her design very stylish outfits!
She often works either with the Teen Titans (which one of her girlfriends Lacey is a part of) or the Justice League (which her best friend Ismael is a part of). She's also very proud of her other girlfriend Fury (Margo) for making progress on deconditioning herself from Granny Goodness's mindgames.
