This young doe was hit early one morning in the beginning of summer. I moved her out of the road to let scavengers eat safely. Today i gathered Dermestid beetles from her body to help grow my colony & gathered some of the unbroken bones. A buck named Chehalis : found as #hunterdumpedbones in a rural/residential area.... as just a head & some ribs. This was my first time skinning & cleaning a fresh deer skull, I learned a lot more than I expected. It was physically demanding, and gross. I think removing the eyes was the most upsetting... and I have a greater appreciation for the work it takes to skin an animal without wasting/damaging hide or meat. This was an awesome learning experience, and I gained new skills. 💀 Once the skin, meat, eyes, tongue and brains were removed (and composted) I let nature finish the cleaning in my wire rot-box; where rain, slugs & bugs help with clean up.💀🌲💜🌲 . . . #vultureculture #scavenger #forager #respectthewilderness #ostealjewelry
