A buck named Chehalis : found as #hunterdumpedbones in a rural/residential area.... as just a head & some ribs. This was my first time skinning & cleaning a fresh deer skull, I learned a lot more than I expected. It was physically demanding, and gross. I think removing the eyes was the most upsetting... and I have a greater appreciation for the work it takes to skin an animal without wasting/damaging hide or meat. This was an awesome learning experience, and I gained new skills. 💀 Once the skin, meat, eyes, tongue and brains were removed (and composted) I let nature finish the cleaning in my wire rot-box; where rain, slugs & bugs help with clean up.💀🌲💜🌲 . . . #vultureculture #scavenger #forager #respectthewilderness #ostealjewelry

Bone Cleaning : Rot box progress on the buck i named Chehalis. I removed the skin, meat, tongue and eyes & am now Letting nature do its thing. Black Tailed Deer Rib bundles will be available tomorrow at 5 p.m. (pst) . . Almost all of my deer bones are gathered from dump sites in the woods where hunters leave the carcasses after they collect the meat. . . These are #hunterdumpedbones that I collect & clean to give them new life & new uses (like tools & talismans) . . I never take -all- the bones, only what I can use, and I leave the rest for four legged & feathered scavengers. . . The rest of my deer bones were road fatalities & I do my best to honor them.
