The Rethoric - Conceptualization dialogues:
Conceptualization: Is there a way to express how incredible the alfajor is?
Rethoric: The best alfajor is clearly the Guaymallén. The people's alfajor.
Far too much debate today is more like a play of competing monologues, or forms of self-promotion designed to perform for one’s tribe. Shoul
Much debate today more resembles an alternation of competing monologues, forms of self-promotion designed to play-up to one’s tribe of the “already convinced”, gratuitous appeals to one’s base, rather than expressions of genuine responsiveness.

One of my country's politicans starts a speech against another polotican: "When do you mean to cease abusing our patience? How long...?"
Me, completely shook:
Huh
Listening to Prattchets Hogfather and thinking about the concept of Death having a grandkid. About six hours in I only started wondering about Death having a "kid".
I'm new to the Discworld and have only listened to one other book up until now, but it made me think how that is actually a pretty neat way to guide other people's minds; the "kid" of Death would raise a LOT of questions I guess, if you only went to write about it as lf it was normal. But if you throw in a grandchild and explain how they came to be you're basically avoiding to explain the kid's existence and implement it as a completely normal thing in your readers view.
Not sure how to phrase it, but it's like saying two weird things and only explaining the send, taking your listeners focus away from the first so completely that it is established as "normal".
Maybe comparable to "normal and cishetero people living in polyamouros relationships", which establishes every queer person as "normal" and would be questioned instantly, but the moment you throw in the "polyamorous relationships" the focus is set on that and the other thing is overlooked and forgotten.
Could be used as a rethoric (?) tool. Needs more thinking on my side. Seems like a cool thing, though.
What is advertising?
I do not regard advertising as entertainment or an art form, but as a medium of information. When I write an advertisement, I don’t want you to tell me that you find it ‘creative.’ I want you to find it so interesting that you buy the product. When Aeschines spoke, they said, ‘How well he speaks.’ But when Demosthenes spoke, they said, ‘Let us march against Philip.’
—David Ogilvy, Ogilvy on Advertising (1983)
if you do believe amber, but you just think “this has nothing to do with me,” idk what reality you’re living in, but can i please go live with you there? it sounds nice. even if you’re not and think you’ll never be an abuse victim, please realize the way society is handling this WILL affect everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, including something else that’s happening right now, what was it again? oh right, your reproduction rights, queer rights. when women are treated, talked about, and viewed as amber has been, specially when it’s a famous woman, it impacts women’s rights, it impacts afab’s rights, it impacts trans women’s rights, it impacts queer rights (hell, even disabled rights, when we’re talking about mental illness like this), it impacts every effing thing. i said it before and i’ll say it again: all hatred and bigotry comes from the exact same place, and bigotry online doesn’t stay online anymore, it comes to the real world and impacts us all. including other countries who are watching you. if you don’t believe me, just look at how much money the alt-right is happily spending to keep this social talk exactly as vicious and disgusting as it is now. this is far more than a distraction tactic, to get you to stop paying attention to the rights they’re trying to take from everyone, they want you all to talk about her like that, because then it gives them power, and it makes their job much easier, when idk, you have to decide if women and afabs have the mental and emotional capacity to make decisions about their own lives.
