Retrognathism: a receding chin where your lower jaw sits much further back than your upper jaw. It might cause issues such has chewing, biting, swallowing, jaw pain, mouth breathing, snoring and speech disorders. Retrognathism can be congenital. Genetic or a symptom of another condition such has : Hemifacial microsomia, Nager syndrome, Pierre-Robin syndrome or Treacher Collins syndrome. More rarely people can have acquired retrognathism. This might happen because of facial trauma, surgery, broken facial bones or childhood habits like thumb sucking.
