The bois have arrived!

I got both the Vash and Knives creature plushies made by @revenantghost! The Vash is for me and the Knives one is for my bestie @strywoven. I can’t wait to give him to them! And of course, I love my Vash one.

Yuusha Yamemasu had no reason to be this good. The animation could’ve been better, it wasn’t as pretty or stylized as the manga or LN art (could do with better dramatic lighting or something to elevate episodes 10-11), but the story carries itself.

At the start, it feels like a standard gloryhound-asshole-learns-how-to-people-better story, but then he’s surprisingly good at working with people, to the point that it turns into a ruling-a-kingdom-as-office-management story for a while (we’d have 3 nickles!). And a decent version of that, with fun moments of character interactions and development all ’round, with a slow drip feed of information about this “gloryhound asshole’s” backstory.

Holy shit, it’s a Genre Shift.

What if a modern, technologically advanced humanity designed Terminators to deal with an otherworldly invasion, and this guy is the only one to have survived the subsequent societal collapse and regression to a feudal state (maybe multiple collapses? did I interpret that right? It was 3000 years!), all the while gaining so much combat experience he’s basically One-Punch Man? And then humanity -- whose safety he’s programmed to protect, it’s the core of his entire identity -- start to not need him? Worse, start to fear him? Yeah, I’d have an existential crisis or five, too.

I did not expect to have Who Wants To Live Forever feelings! Or the usual ‘hidden depths behind the braggadocio’ to be so far beyond normal human. Or an ancient war-machine who already understands the value of teamwork and sharing responsibilities/burdens (to the point he taught it to his new coworker) being violently shaken until he learns the Power of Friendship (by said coworker). I expected Found Family and eye-rolling levels of fanservice! Thank you for giving me more.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

I guess the mashwood zombie apocalypse AU that I keep waffling around in my head and undecided if I wanna commit to making it a full fic/AU. 🥴 I'm so consumed by EBS tho that I haven't had brain space to think about other ideas.
