as if the redhead could get anymore brash, the door slams open with such force it bangs heavily against the wall behind it, "GOOD MO~ORNIN'!" accented trill sing-songs into angel's room at ungodly hour ( as usual, tradition has taught them to be up when the suns rise, uncaring of whom they disturb ). they frown into the dark room, clicking their tongue. this won't do!
striding into the room, they fling the curtains aside and allow in the glorious light of dawn. much better! "wake up!" kaen demands of their friend, turning around and rattling her mattress insistently. "'s important, ah've got somethin' fer ye!" once angel is at least somewhat coherent, kaen plops down beside her and presses a neatly wrapped parcel into her hands, their voice softening. "... ah've been waitin' ta' give this ta' ye, ah think ye'll like it."
inside is a first edition adventure novel from one of angel's favorite authors... and, it's autographed! kaen must've gone through a lot - and paid a lot - to get this.
Angel groans, face down on her pillow. While it was great that Kaen basically had free access to the Crawford house, the two families being close and doing business together and Angel and Kaen practically growing up together, it was moments like these that Angel kind of wished that the servants and security would bat an eye when Kaen, uh, intruded. At least to give her a warning that her dear friend was on the property.
She barely had time to sit up and open her eyes before a wrapped present was thrust into her hands. It took her sleep-laced mind a moment to process. Oh, right. It was the holidays. "Kaen...you know you don't have to get me anything."
Carefully, Angel unwraps the present, sleepy eyes widening at the contents. She's been meaning to get this book and add it to her collection but this...this was a collector's piece itself. "Kaen, you really didn't have to do this. But...thank you. I love it." Angel gives her friend one of her rare, genuine smiles.
"Oh! Hold on!" Angel carefully places her new book aside and leans over to reach her nightstand, practically falling off the bed in the process. She opens the drawer, pulling out a wrapped present herself. "I got you this!"
Inside this present, Kaen would find an old book: a classic and a favorite of theirs. It too was a first edition but from way back when. While it was obviously old, it was well taken care of and had that wonderful old book smell. Inside the cover tucked between the flyleaves, was a pressed bluebell from Angel's family garden, laminated and framed to act as a bookmark.
