Hot Take on Woke Culture and where it backfires
I find it so funny how ppl think they're gonna change the world by being huge assholes and valuing their own egos/feeling superior for their incredible wokeness more than what's actually effective at educating ppl and creating change. Even the smallest things like someone accidentally posting false info without realizing getting education topped with "You're wrong and you should feel bad". Those edgy little "I'm better than you, I'm the superior one" comments. Just really gives off the vibe that you care more about your own superiority complex than the ppl you're supposedly fighting for, especially when the fighting is over really small arbitrary shit that somehow gets put on the same level of atrocities. Or when it's fake woke neo liberals using woke culture to divert from really serious issues. Or when it's weaponized against the lower, less educated class. Gotta love it.
An example I have of diverting from serious issues would be when I was having a convo with an old friend explaining my position on the democratic party, and why I don't like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Keep in mind this dude is nearly the epitome of privelage and has one of the biggest savior complexes I've ever seen in my life. He shut me down immediately and attacked me for accidentally mispronouncing Kamala's name (while I was listing out her shitty track record) and I could tell he was smirking over the phone like "yes! I've won! I'm ending racism!" meanwhile he also called me an extremist for supporting Bernie sanders and pointing out racist things Biden has said, and other similar things. This person also has a history of saying some pretty racey shit but now that he's taken woke racism classes at his liberal arts college, he thinks he knows everything and feels good about himself for doing basically nothing. So like the reason I hate woke culture isnt bc the issues ppl are talking about aren't important, or bc we shouldnt be having conversations about cultural appropriation and other things often deemed by ppl as "sjw snowflake" stuff. It's bc I think a lot of ppl use the smaller less significant issues to either A.) Distract from more serious topics bc they secretly enjoy their privelage and just want to appear woke or B.) Believe that attacking someone for saying the word "crazy" in a casual context makes them a hero while mentally ill ppl on SSI still cant get fucking married.
So idk let's replace woke culture with revolution culture and fuck up the system at its core.
