There were some formatting issues so I'm reposting this drabble.

(I suck at first person, I'm sorry)

She smacks me across the face with the back of her hand.

My face is on fire. But the burning on my face is nothing, nothing at all, compared to the inferno of fury raging inside me.

"Don't fucking touch me!" I yell, hands going up to shield myself from further assault. "I fucking hate you! And I hate God! Him and the rest of the assholes in the fucking trinity!"

I'm so fucking angry I can't even remember how we ended up having this argument again.

I can see her rage growing. Her eye twitches. She speaks louder, faster, matching my voice. Her face gets redder as we continue this screaming match. My mother just cannot stand having her beliefs contradicted. Such a pointless thing to hit someone over.

The neighbors are used to this by now; if it's not too late at night, they simply ignore us. Only if it interrupts their precious sleep do they care.

"You're going to church and that is final, Christophe! I am your damned mother and you will listen to me, so help me!" As if the mother card works anymore.

"Fuck yourself!"

"Don't talk to me that way!"

"Bitch!"

"Brat!"

She lets out a frustrated noise and runs her hands down her face. Her eyes dart around for a second. She takes a moment, slows down; she takes a moment and picks her words.

"You should just be glad I didn't fucking abort you," she growls, in a low voice.

I don't even know what to make of that.

"Eh, what?"

"Oh yes," she says. She must see my confusion. Her words take on a tone of slight sadistic pleasure, of finally having gained the upper hand. "I never even wanted you. Took a coathanger and I stuck you in the heart. But you're here. By God's grace you're here and now I have to deal with you. So act a little grateful!"

I forget how to breathe for a moment. I knew she hated me. I knew I wasn't wanted. But that...

How do I respond to that?

What kind of fucked up person...

I shut down. "You win," I say flatly. Without another word I go to my room and lock myself away.

I clench my fists as I feel a burning in my eyes. Different from that of my face, in that it is followed by wetness. I lean against the wall and slide down, until I am sitting on the floor.

I'm crying. I shouldn't be crying. Tears are weakness. They mean she got to me, that there is a softspot in the emotional armor I have constructed for myself. It doesn't matter how young I am. I have to be stronger than this.

Crying never solved a single one of my damn problems, and it never will.
