Ben Solo and Rey Defeats Palpatine through the Force

Palpatine: Yes! Did I not warn you? I've played along with your Jedi dueling games long enough! Now, you will experience my full potency...I live as energy...I am the dark side!

Ben Solo: Listen to me, Rey...we can stop him...I've read his dark books. According to his own words, he has awakened the chaos even he cannot control. Join your Jedi power to mine, Rey.

Rey: I already am, Ben. Haven't you sensed it?

Palpatine: You're both wasting your time! I can control the dark side of the force! My force storm is educing your resistance fleet to dust! All your friends will die! Go ahead! Try any stupid tricks you want...

Ben Solo and Rey with theirs closed and their thoughts joined as one...with the power of luminous beings, Ben and Rey press the force around the dark nexus that is Emperor Palpatine...

With all his hatred funneled into the death storm, the malevolent genius is caught off guard by the invisible wave of life energy surging over him, separating him from his power...then the cataclysmic storm turns against its maker...and Palpatine became no more.

Note: This is an adaption of a scene in the Star Wars Legends comic, "Dark Empire" - Part 1.  Instead of Brother and Sister (Luke and Leia) defeating Palpatine, it's Ben Solo and Rey, the Force dyad, putting an end to Emperor Palpatine.

Ben Solo confronts Palpatine...

Ben Solo: You...somehow I knew...but you died!

Palpatine: Yes, you knew, didn’t you..you've grown very strong in the force...but so have I.

Palpatine: It was not the first time I died...nor will it be the last. Such are the mysteries of the dark side of the force!

Palpatine: You see, my friend, flesh does not easily support the great power! for many years, I have been under dire necessity.! My body has decayed again and again and each time I have needed to take another...a humble clone of the man I once was

Ben Solo: Clones! Then it’s true!

Palpatine: yes, young skywalker. the dying is painful...the transition s not an enjoyable experience. but, the suffering is a small price to pay for eternal life! After all, I live primarily as energy formlessness...and power! And now, my young apprentice...Have you come to join me? Will you take the place that rightly belongs to you at my side?

Note: this is an adaptation of a selected scene from the Legends comic book, “Star Wars: Dark Empire” - Part 1.  You can see how this is the source of inspiration for Ben Solo seeing Palpatine for the first time and being told how Palpatine survived.

Palpatine tells Ben Solo the Truth about Darth Vader

Palpatine: Nonsense! Curse you Skywalker! I'll tell you the truth about your grandfather...

Palpatine: The great Darth Vader was a sick man in an iron mask! Yes, that mask inspired terror throughout the galaxy...but the feeble heart within was forever possessed by the impotent side of the force!

Palpatine: you can be far stronger than he was! Dark Jedi! Are you going to let Rey get the better of you?

Palpatine: Get up! I can give you the power to break her! You will kill Rey if I ask it!

Ben Solo: No...I made a big mistake...I thought I had to save the galaxy all by myself. But, the way of the Jedi is not a solitary path...

Ben Solo: Many have died defending the truth...many are together in this great war...together in the force!

Ben Solo: My ally is the Force. Through the strength of the Force, your shroud of evil has been lifted from my mind.

Palpatine: So be it -- through the power of the force you will die!

Ben Solo and Palpatine clashed with their lightsabers only ending with Ben Solo getting the upper hand and cutting off the hand of Palpatine.

Note: This is an adaption of a scene in the Star Wars Legends comic, "Dark Empire" Part 1. Instead of Palpatine telling his view of Luke's father, Darth Vader, this time it's Palpatine telling Ben Solo about his grandfather, Darth Vader.

Rey Rescues Ben Solo from Palpatine

Rey: I don't know what he's done to you, Ben...but this time we're really leaving.

Ben Solo: Rey...No...don't underestimate the dark side.

Ben and Rey ignite their lightsaber and clash.

Ben Solo: Rey...I don't want to hurt you.

Rey: The last I'd do is hurt you, Ben...

Ben Solo: Rey...help me...I have gone too far into the dark side...

Ben Solo: I found knowledge there...all the dark things my grandfather knew so well...Uncle Luke warned me...But I had to do it, Rey. I had to know my grandfather...I had to know why he chose the dark side.

Rey: And now yo know what happened to him...it's time come home, Ben

Palpatine: Do not listen to her! Listen to the voice of the dark side! your power is immense!

Note: This is an adaption of a scene in Star Wars Legends Comic, “Dark Empire” Part 1.  Instead of Leia rescuing Luke Skywalker from the clutches of the dark side, this time it’s Rey rescuing Ben Solo.

Palpatine Seduces Ben Solo

In Palpatine's throne room, 

Palpatine: It is your destiny, my friend...to succeed your grandfather...to wield my discipline over the worlds that betray me!

It is a moment of terrible conflict for Ben Solo...the Emperor's arguments have not touched him...

Palpatine: Is it so difficult to decide, my child? Surely you know that if you strike me down in anger, I live again!  Perhaps, I will even live as you!

Palpatine: I see you have grown wise in the ways of the force...you have achieved control. You are no longer the impulsive youth, at war with your own anger...but you can still conquer me...by learning the secrets of the dark side. We both know there is no other way for you.

 The emperor's words blaze like lightning across Ben's mind...the dark side as spoken...and for once it speaks the truth.  A moment of greatest peril...Ben must challenge the dark side from within...he must penetrate the power of the dark side and must learn its secrets

Ben Solo: Yes, my grandfather's destiny is my own...

Palpatine: Very good! It is done!

Note: This is an adaptation of the scene in the Legends comic book, “Star Wars: Dark Empire” – Part 1. In this comic, Luke Skywalker confronts Palpatine on Planet Byss similar to Ben Solo confronting Palpatine on Exogol. The difference is in the Legends comic, Luke Skywalker submits himself to become Palpatine’s apprentice. Whereas, in The Rise of Skywalker film (Disney Canon), Ben Solo accepts Palpatine’s offer to use his ships and to go after Rey later on.
