i had a very hard caleo phase since when i first read the series up until like 2019-20 so i don't think i could ever hate them, but i do see other ways their characters could go. even if they were gonna end up together i'd much rather see them more individually first. and as for their relationship i think rick literally performed his worst writing skills on them to the point that i had to hope it was ghostwriting rather than his own writing. but still i don't see them as a bad idea, they were written badly and their characters needed more individual time before getting together.

i get why people ship them, the idea of two girls being told that they'll never find love finding love in one other through shared trauma experience, but i don't really see their character dinamics lining with each other. both of their lack of romantic love comes from a situation which they couldn't control but calypso blames it on the outer forces and thinks she'll find love once they're removed, reyna on the other hand thinks that it's her fault that she can't find love. their idea of love or how they approach love doesn't really match up in a romantic sense and they both need to figure out what love means to them and how should they approach it. still a nice idea for the people who can see their dynamic lining up.

when she came to ogygia, scratches and blood on her face, the vibrant sunrise behind her acting as a halo; on the back of pegasus himself, no less, calypso thought one of the goddesses had come to see her.

and while reyna ramirez-arellano knew she far from being a goddess, calypso decided that this— as reyna dismounted pegasus and rushed towards her on the beach; pulled her gently by the arm into a long-awaited, sweet but desperate kiss— might as well could've been the best moment of her life.

reyna pulled away, only to whisper—

"of course, i did."
