Das ist die frühere Zonengrenze, mitten in der Rhön. Hier war ein neutraler Erlebnispark, wo Soldaten aller Armeen miteinander Bier tranken und über Fußball quatschten. Außerdem wurden hier Friedenstauben dressiert, die den jeweiligen Regierungen naturgemäß mit zartem Lavendelduft parfümierte freundliche diplomatische Noten überbrachten. Zugekiffte Staatsoberhäupter entledigten sich hier ihrer Würde und ließen sich Berge hinaufrollen und dann wieder hinabrollen. In einem Weinfass in der Nähe lagerten Kressesamen. Niemand wusste, warum. Doch abends hörten dann alle den Hahn krähen, bis Sid Vicous die Gegend in einen 100jährigen Schlaf versetzte. Sieben Zwerge küssten eine Hexe uns aßen einen Apfel, als ein Donnerhall durch die Anlage rauschte, wie ein abgerissener Fingernagel. Niemand erinnert sich, das aber sehr!

This is the former German-German-border (it isn't 😉), in the middle of the Rhön. Here was a neutral adventure park where soldiers from all armies drank beer together and chatted about football. Peace doves were also trained here, which naturally brought friendly diplomatic notes scented with the delicate scent of lavender to the respective governments. Stoned heads of state stripped themselves of their dignity here and allowed themselves to be rolled up mountains and then down again. Cress seeds were stored in a wine barrel nearby. Nobody knew why. But in the evening everyone heard the rooster crow until Sid Vicous put the area into a 100-year sleep. Seven dwarves were kissing a witch and eating an apple when a thunder rumbled through the complex like a torn fingernail. Nobody remembers that much!

Rhoencer Fontaine, childhood friend of Remy. He’s half human, and half mazoku (the Blue Shadow, Aoiro, is his father). He spent some of his youth in a mage’s servitude, but eventually broke free and joined the group back when they lived at Castle Merado in a world called Dura.

Rhoen is married to Haze Fontaine, and has one daughter named Lyf (pronounced like Leaf).

So let me tell you a little story. In June, I stumbled across a fic in search of something with Genma. I’d never tried GenRai before, but the summary had me curious - so I read it. I’ve never looked back. It’s hands down one of the best fics I’ve ever read, and it is and will continue to be a fic I rec until I die (and also gave me my new fave Genma headcanon - that storms get him hot & bothered, which you can pry from my cold dead hands). Which is what brings us here today.

This series is hot. It’s angsty. It’s got a lot of unresolved emotional tension that builds and builds until even you the reader feel like you’re going to explode. Rhoen’s ability to tell a story and their insanely amazing characterization is fantastic and whether you’re a seasoned GenRai shipper or still on the fence about whether or not you like it, I highly recommend this series.

None of these really standalone but here is an easy to access list of all 8 (so far) parts of it because a) they’re all amazing and I will rec them forever, and b) making this list gave me an excuse to go back and reread the entire thing from the beginning. :D
