Abraham: I don't have favorites. My children are both equally worthy of inheriting the Hellsing organization.
Also Abraham: names one son after a fellow comrade that helped him hunt down and enslave the legendary Dracula, and names the other Dick

if you know the cat meme and still remember Richard, then I envy you
you know, it's not every time you're courted by a fallen angel after your death for one episode, but this mustachioed devil managed to attract the most attractive lady he could use for revenge...
if nobody fills your inbox like i’m gonna fill heinkel’s ass, they’re not doing it right
HAD TO ASK MY FIRST QUESTION: since i want amulya away from those crusty white men for a minute, how do you think she is as a mother? and what was her brief relationship with integra like?
love your writing so much btw<3
Thank u sunslept, I will provide u with enough Amulya content as you ask for. I salute u in your Heinkel endeavors!!! I be going crazy at the fact that I have such a dedicated fan. Your comments and interactions have made me smile a bunch. I felt soooo bad for not getting this out the day you sent it in. I shall include a doodle for the inconvenience:
Fuck them old guys >:)
Amulya’s relationship with Integra
TW: mentions of suicide, questionable dynamics, mental illness, average Hellsing lore
Love the fact that Hellsing is just Dracula fan fiction with Richard, Arthur & Integra Hellsing being Kouta Hirano’s fankids of Abraham Van Helsing. lmao
Understanding Richard
Richard Hellsing wasn't too pleased when the 'joyful' announcement was made. There was to be another Hellsing soon. Another person in his way to succession; a screaming, drooling, shitting obstacle.
It wasn't until the week fourteen scans that Richard wondered if something more nefarious was happening.
It was a girl.
This complicated things in a bad way. Traditionally, a girl could not carry on the family name and rights. That little clump of cells could spell the end of the Hellsings right then and there.
Richard started to believe it was a curse. A vampire's curse. Alucard's curse. The demon may be, for all intents and purposes, dead in the basement, but he was more powerful than most could fathom. He could have even set the curse before he was banished.
Then it got a name.
Integra.
Integra Fairbrook.
Richard scowled at the name.
Lending more credence to Richard's theory, what's-her-face wanted to hyphenate its last name.
Integra Fairbrook Wingates-Hellsing.
He hated the name. It was so ostentatious and ridiculously...British. Like someone foreign was trying to come up with a British-sounding name. Well, what's-her-face was Indian. Something about the name Integra grated his skin. The soon-to-be parents wanted a name that meant something. Integral and Integrity. Important Truth. It sounded like a name a show-off would have.
Then it was born and there was another sign. It had a single vampire ear.
Arthur rolled his eyes, "It's a tiny point. It's called a Darwin's Ear, brother."
Sure this single Darwin's Ear point on its right side was smaller than older vampires' elongated and animal-like ears, but it was one more point for Richard's theory.
Richard kept his distance. Of course, it was dumped in his lap day in and day out and was made to babysit, but he kept it at arm's length. He never saw it as a human. It was a curse.
When its adult teeth started coming in, Richard knew for sure. It had fangs. Its canine teeth, the ones that become a vampire's fangs, were coming out the top of its jaw and looked very much like a vampire's fangs.
Arthur assured his brother that it was normal, genetic even. What's-her-face had the same problem; hers just came out from the back, and a few years in braces would do the trick.
Still, Richard knew the truth. Arthur was just under its spell. It was just masquerading as a knobby-kneed and awkward preteen girl. It even seemed to want Richard's attention and affection, pretending to be confused why they could never bond as uncle and niece.
Richard knew Alucard's plan. Richard had his own; he just needed to wait for the right time.
I often wonder about how the Hellsings went about keeping their family secret.
Integra didn't know about Alucard because he had been locked away for nearly a decade before she was even born. Fair dos.
Richard, who is much older and would have been alive last time Alucard was active, had zero idea who he was. He must have known that the Hellsing family business was vampire hunting, so why wasn't he told about Alucard? Did Arthur or their parents consider him so unworthy that they didn't feel he should be informed? Alucard certainly had no hesitation in ripping his arm off, despite Richard being a Hellsing. They had never met before then.
So when Alucard wasn't out actively fighting, was he always kept in that cell? Was the reason he was locked away for 20 years just because there hadn't been a threat dangerous enough to warrant using him?
(When Integra met him the Hellsing forces had been decimated, so she probably just got used to sending him out for even little jobs and got to know him as a person rather than just a weapon.)
I am wondering the same for years!
I mean Integra not knowing him: Okay he was locked away in that cell before she even was born. No problem
But how did Richard never know?!
And correct me if I'm wrong, it had been a while since I've read it, but I think in "The Dawn" Arthur only mentions sending Walter to the mission in Warsaw, so maybe not even the Round Table knew (save maybe for Sir Irons and Penwood).
And even if he was kept down there - imagine little Richard being not allowed there - a place in his own mansion, more or less. I can imagine how his frustration built over all these years, his own father and brother having secrets, going to places, talking about things he never would witness which would eventually lead to him hating his brother.
But I digress.
The question remains ... but the cell seems like the only plausible solution.
Apparently it is locked by one heavy metal door, which would be easy to keep shut and - if necessary- to guard.
So what would have happened if Arthur never died ten years prior to the story? What if the Millennium fiasco happened while he was still alive? What if he died during it and the whole inheritance debacle with Richard and Integra went on amidst all the other chaos of the series?
Discuss.
