Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter. 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar. 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 teaspoon salt. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. 4 large eggs. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips. 1 cup chopped nuts optional. 1/2 cup caramel sauce optional.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F 175C. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, cocoa, salt, baking powder, and vanilla. Mix in the eggs, then fold in the flour, chocolate chips, and nuts if using until just combined. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Drizzle the caramel sauce if using over the top. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until the brownies begin to pull away from the edges of the pan. Do not overcook. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
