RID15 Grimlock x Reader

• Watching him fiddling with the barrel of energon, you realize he’s nervous and that more than anything reassures you. Not entirely sure you how far you’re willing to go with him if push comes to shove. If he demands and expects things from you because that thought sends your nerves jangling with anxiety. Scares you. “Are you liking Earth?” You ask, trying to make small talk as you mix up cherry scented soap. ‘It’s a lot better than lockup,’ he says and you notice his sharp denta, staring as your mind tries to catch up with what he said.

• “Lockup?” You repeat, sounding wary and his shoulders hunch, servos picking at a spot of paint on the energon barrel. Why did he say that? Always blurting out things without thinking. ‘I’m not like that anymore. I just, I made some mistakes. Fell in with a bad crowd,’ he mumbles, embarrassed as he shrugs. Had let others talk him into things because they’d included him. Pretended to be his friends. But they’d just liked his strength. His size. Had used him and thrown him away to save themselves when the authorities had closed in on them. They weren’t his friends.

• Huffing out a breath, you understand that a little too well. “I’m not judging. It happens,” you mutter, thinking about how slippery that slope can be. You’d fallen for your ex because he’d said all the right things, had given you attention, sweet words and sweeter kisses. And you’d not even realized he was methodically separating you from anyone that might warn you, that might help. Turned you against them, murmuring that they were just jealous. Disgusted with yourself for believing him, you find a sponge and drop it in. You’d been young and desperate to be loved and he’d taken full advantage of it.

• Surprised, he slowly relaxes, watching you grab the soapy bucket and carry it over, motions quick. Almost angry though he’s not sure why. “Thanks,” he says and you look up at him, brow furrowed. “For not judging. Most people do,” he adds with a shrug as he sits heavily on the metal bench in the stall. ‘Oh, believe me. I know,’ you mutter sourly, hauling the bucket closer and then dragging the hose over to spray him down and his plating ruffles slightly. Now that the excitement of being chosen, being seen and accepted are ebbing, he’s not really sure what to do. What to say.

• Why did you volunteer that? Why did you say anything at all? It’s because he’s smiling down at you like that, expression slightly puzzled and innocent. Shoulders hunching, you force a smile and start scrubbing his ped. Was he tricked and lied to just like you? Used. Like you’re doing to him right now to protect yourself. Hands trembling as you hate yourself a little more, because you learned from the best. Know exactly how to manipulate and coax because he did it to you. Is that who you want to be? Just like him?

I’m a little disgruntled that out of all the absolutely gorgeous mechs in RID15, Milne chose Strongarm domming Bee for Hot Motor Oil. I mean don’t get me wrong, she looks awesome there and that man’s gift is to make any Cybertronian a thirst trap, but I just personally prefer the mechs 🤣 can’t wait for volume 5 and I’m hoping to get my hands on vol 1 & 2 in Orlando

Cyberceptember Day 2: Found Family

Sometimes a family consists of Optimus’s adopted son who married the failed clone of the king of Dinobots, with their kids they found in the woods. A cyberninja who needed a postive parental figure, the twin minicons who follow said cyberninja, and of course warrior of the past blessed by Primus

(Strongarm, Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker don’t count in since they either A, have families and just stuck on Earth, or B, get a different family)

(I could be totally off and they’re just messing around but knowing his character…. I don’t know…. He tends to seek this kind of reassurance in places like this…… especially after he makes mistakes………….)
