I widened my eyes as she asked the question and wanted to deny it as soon as possible until she started laughing. She tricked me?! Perplex I looked at her, my mouth half open and I lost my voice. I couldn't say anything, but my red face would already reveal the answer. "K-Kouuuuuu" I said a little louder (perhaps so loud that the guys heard it) and threw my arms up in the air. "T-T-That's a misunderstanding! I swear!" ~ Rihara
“I told you I was just kidding, don’t worry about it,” she smiles at you apologetically before pulling a sheet of paper out of her bag that is nearby her. When she hands it to you, you see that it has information on “Healthy Meals for an Athlete,” which is the title of the paper. “It’s so you can help me tomorrow with the inspection of their lunches,” Gou explains, “We have to make sure they get the right nutrition so they can be in tip-top shape for regionals. Make sure to study that by tomorrow, okay?”
Although his answer seemed very cold, I was glad. He had said that it suits me. So, he thought it was good that I joined the club, right? I mean, that must be it, right? Still, I was grateful that Makoto told me that. He was really caring. I had to control my feelings and my smile. Haru's words made me so happy. Why? I sat down next to Gou and smiled friendly. "Kou .." I said, knowing that she prefered to be called like that. "Thanks again." ~ Rihara
“Oh,” Gou turns her head towards you with a smile, happy that you called her Kou, “It’s no problem, really!” she waves her hands in front of her in order to say that it’s no big deal. After a small silence falls between you as you watch the boys swim, Gou speaks up again. “By the way, Rihara,” she whispers as she leans close. “Do you…like Haru-senpai? You keep staring at him…” Before you can answer, a huge grin spreads across her face. “I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” she says with a giggle.
I was so incredibly happy when everyone greeted me so warmly. "Thank you so much, guys. I hope I won't do too many mistakes, haha!" I laughed, but it was the truth. Everyone was here, except Haru, who was still in the water. Carefully, I ran over to him after I thanked everyone for their support and love. I almost slipped, but I could keep my balance yet. Excitedly I pointed at my jacket and my t-shirt. "Isn't that great, Haru-chan?" I smiled at him. "What do you think?" ~ Rihara
Haru stands up out of the water and looks at you as he tries to catch his breath. After a few seconds of thought he finally answers with a simple, “It suits you.” After telling you that, he goes back to swimming and Makoto approaches you.
“I know it may seem like he doesn’t care, but he does, trust me,” Makoto offers you a warm smile before diving into the pool to continue his own practice. Nagisa and Rei eventually go back to practicing too, so you take a seat next to Gou on one of the benches.
Surprised, I stared at Makoto longer than I wanted. Me? Joining the swim club? First my eyes fell on Nagisa and Rei, but then my eyes fell immediately on Haru, who apparently looked back at me. He also waited for my answer? But when I thought about it, I digressed and my eyes fell on the cold water. "Uhm," I strengthened the grip on my bag. "As long as I do not have to swim, I'll help you!" I smiled at the group with my best smile and bowed my head. "Nice to meet you, my name is Rihara!" ~Rihara
Nagisa, Rei, Makoto, and Gou all smiled at you, happy to know that they just recruited a new member. But Haru, who finally caught his breath, went back to swimming like he usually does. To be honest, he felt neutral on the whole recruiting a new member, especially one who wouldn’t swim. But if everyone else was happy, then what’s the harm in it.
“Welcome to the club, Rihara,” Gou smiles at you as she hands you a yellow shirt and a jacket, “Now you’re official!”
