Mantles the Essence of the Divine
Divinity is power pure and simple the raw power of a Mantle.
So what is a Mantle?
A Mantle is Raw Magical Energy not Arcane but Divine and most Deities have multiple Mantles.
Divine Energy is of the Soul the power of it given shape and Mantles are the expression of this power.
Mantles provide the being with power to shape and effect the world corresponding to said Mantle
Each Domain or Sacred Tenant or Animal composes that Deities Mantle.
Following a Deity empowers someone with a shard of their Mantle.
Demigods have a Mantle.
A Deity cannot be destroyed so long as they retain their Mantles.
Removing a Mantle forcefully is possible and then it can be absorbed by a Deity of similar temperament or broken into smaller Mantles in essence dividing the gods power.
Mortals can gain Mantles for excellence and develop into new Deities. Demigods also can undergo this process.
Answers to some questions which will crop up.
Question; So does this mean their is an eternal stalemate between say concepts in Ringwaldt?
Answer; No as Mantles cannot be destroyed they can be changed. Laga a goddess of Love was corrupted turning into Lagapi the Sinister.
Question; What happens to the Shard of Mantle a Human gets from Worshiping a god?
Answer; The Shard grows and bolsters the Humans own potential Mantle. This can lead to them becoming a Angel/Herald for that deity or to become a new Deity. Though sometimes the person does not cultivate this power and instead the shard returns to the Deity
Question; Do All Demigods Become Deities?
Answer; No Demigods start with a Mantle aligned with their Divine Parent. But if they do not cultivate their own unique Mantles to differentiate themself from said parent said power will return to their parent in death.
Question; How Does a Human Cultivate a Mantle? Answer; Actions, Deeds the same way a Demigod would. The only difference is that Humans(and any other species in the setting), don’t have the leg up of having an already developed mantle. Azboi the Cerulean Emperor is the Patron of the Suhndaran Empire and its first Emperor and was distinctly Human in life.
Question; What Happens if you take a Mantle You Do Not Align With?
Answer; Here is an example. A Deity of Chaos and Fire eats a god of Judges and Fire. Said Deity would have a collection of options
The Chaos Deity would have to remove the Judge portion of the Mantle to incorporate the Fire part of the Mantle.
The Chaos Deity would have to become less chaotic and incorporate the Judge portion of this other deity. Potentially becoming a new god of Justice in Freedom and Fire.
The Chaos Deity changes the lawful mantle of a Judge into something more chaotic
The Judge Deity is to powerful and the two wrestle for control until they split apart or one of the earlier options I mentioned happens.
