I'm so happy to finally share with you all that I was chosen for the cover of the Ringling College Of Art and Design published anthology comic book, Meanwhile!! I am over the moon over how great our issue is. You'll be able to pick this up at various Comic Cons in 2021 such as New York and San Diego (if the world is back to normal lol) or you can grab one from Ringling via mail or in person in Sarasota within the next week or two! If you have a chance, please pick one up! The comics inside are so so so worth it! I’ll be posting mine but only after the comic is officially out of circulation. So grab one now if you wanna see! (They’re free!)
Tonight I get to share my Riso process with the illustration students at Ringling College! Very excited to talk and share all that I can with such sweet and talented students. Thank you again @illestofill crew for having me down to Florida and being the best hosts! #riso #risograph #illestofill #ringlingcollege (at Sarasota, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVQNQ8br_6C/?utm_medium=tumblr
So I made a thing I'm pretty proud of! I had Liam's design from last semester, so this semester all I had to do was model, skin, texture, rig, light, animate, simulate, render, AND compile everything you see here. (Though Advanced Skeleton provided the base rig that I built off of.)
Modeled in Zbrush, re-topo'd in 3D Coat, textured in Substance Painter and Photoshop, skinned/rigged/simmed/lit/animated in Maya with Arnold, rendered at Ringling College, compiled in Nuke, and edited in Premiere Pro.
there are still things I'd like to fix, but hey, when isn't there?
Introducing mr. sheridan, calarts, daddy disney, gobelins, and ringling. But personified.
celebratory pic for getting accepted into the ringling college of art and design!!! i hope i get to see the elusive florida man
Ten years ago i asked some friends if they wanted to make a short film. I had a story that I’d been working on. We raised the money. Most of it from my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana and the rest from the state. We put together a crew. Mostly kids just out of the Ringling College of Art. It was a very ambitious short. It took two years. We were only guessing we could pull it off. I’d never directed animation. None of us had done anything like this. Each day was an adventure, an act of collective creative faith. A room full of dedicated dreamers trying to tell a story on a wing and a prayer. Our short film had a longish name “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore”. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences rewarded our dream with a little golden man they call Oscar. That was 8 years ago. Our crew was back in Shreveport watching the show from my brother in law’s restaurant inside an old gas station. For most of them our short film was their first job. There are moments in life when words do actually fail and the only effective response is to fill your lungs to bursting and then scream with joy till you can longer. Winning an Oscar is one of them. I highly recommend it. . . #oscars #animatedshort #animation #ringlingcollege #dedicateddreamers #wingandprayer https://www.instagram.com/p/B8WGwYhln3P/?igshid=1pbi0bda8h2da
