I’m still working on mine but now I’m asking YOUU about Raymond and Orville for the ask game

(i've been using "*rubs hands evilly*" a lot lately, so i'll use "*taps fingers in chin evilly*" this time...).

*taps fingers in chin evilly* okay, actually, i have to make clear (for those who don't know about my crazy rantings about acnh headcanons) that almost everything i'll say here is made up lol. As far as i know (i haven't read the acnh manga, but i will! soon!) these two have NEVER interact in any capacity, so the bases i have for this ship are: 1. Orville's characterization in game; 2. Raymond's "unique" info (his acnh villager description and his pocket camp description; 3. Some game mechanics (i'm talking about personality types. Raymond is obviously a smug, but for Orville...well, he has the voice of a jock so i'll take some characteristics from that type and apply them to his interactions with Ray); 4. And most important, HEADCANONS AND AU, this is like level 2-4 fanon sht so get ready for it tehehe.

"How differently do they think of each other now compared to when they first met?"

So, in my island lore (AU), Raymond arrives at the island to work alongside Isabelle and Tom Nook as their finances guy (i remember reading somewhere that his english name might be a reference to a company that provides financial services so that's why). Now, i know nothing about planes or airports, but is easy to assume that they are like, crazy expensive, and since Orville is (technically) the one who is in charge of the airport, they would have interact from the very beginning to sort out all costs regarding the airport.

I'll start with Orville: at first, he would have seen Raymond as a jerk. In my mind, the first time he heard of Ray was from Wilbur the very second he stepped out of the plane. Raymond leaves the airport with this sort of "very important person" aura to him and Wilbur just goes to his brothers and says something like: "what a jerk." (Raymond probably said something so obnoxious and out-of-pocket that it struck Wilbur personally).

Of course, after meeting more appropriately, he would see that, maybe Ray is like that because he is very skilled in his job and his ego has firm bases. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that he IS kinda too full of himself.

Meanwhile, Raymond...funnily enough, the first he heard from Orville was thanks to Wilbur too, as he is the guy he'll have to work with when it comes to the airport's finances. Wil obviously talked very highly of his brother and that peak Raymonds interest bc he tends to admire more those who work behind the desk. After meeting formally, Ray probably begin doubting his abilities because he was "too nice" (but honestly, whether he had been nice or mean to him, he would've still doubt him bc he is kinda egotistical.)

After that long context, i can actually answer the question lol. Now that...things, have happened, their perspective of each other has changed a lot: Orville sees the softer, caring side of Raymond, and realized he is just a bit socially awkward because of how he was raised. Ray just wants to prove himself worthy as much as him, although he does it for himself, while Orville kinda does it bc of some people-pleasing tendencies he has yet to unpack.

In the other hand, Raymond now sees that Orville is very hardworking and he is more than deserving of his job, while also seeing that his kindness is not fake or a weakness, but part of his nature, and he admires it. a lot. (Orv makes talking to people seem so easy...he wishes he could do too).

They admired (and love tehehe) each other a lot.

2."What do their friends/family think of their relationship?"

Oh man.

I'll start with Raymond. His closest relationships are to Isabelle, Nook, and his (adoptive( father who in this AU is Marlo (i have a funny fic idea for this one fact hehe). Also i would like to add Blathers because Raymond has the nature hobby in the game so i think they'd be good friends. Isa and Nook already know Orville so they're very happy for him! he is a good guy. Blathers probably doesn't interact much with Orv but from what he knows, he is very reliable, so he is also happy.

Marlo, well, he is glad that his son finally got a partner (he has the typical "when are you getting a gf/bf" attitude). Unfortunately for both Ray and Orv, he would be that type of parent that insists on them getting married as soon as possible because they're like in their 30s and he NEEDS to be grandfather. I could explore this in a future fic tho so i won't go into further detail.

Now with Orville...i'm gonna be completely straightforward with this one: Wilbur DOES NOT like Raymond (at first!)

This technically isn't the "brother hates bf" trope bc Wilbur knew Raymond before he started going out with Orville but, it kinda is too, uh... Wilbur thinks Raymond is obnoxious, and despite not showing it too frequently, he is very protective of his lil bro. But, the thing is, he is the LAST person to realize Orv had a crush on Ray, because he wholeheartedly believes his brother has better taste than. the finance guy.

It would be very tense at first because Wilbur is trying his best to be nice, but he is also very honest and he probably throw like 2 or 3 backhanded comments about Raymond that FOR SURE didn't fly over Orville's head and now they're kinda mad at each other bc "oh im trying to do what's best for you" and "but you weren´t there when i needed you!" and ughh it gets too personal. what the hell.

At the end, Wilbur would just...accept Raymond, tolerate him, maybe even find something in common with him and bond a little over it. Is a work in progress.

3."How do their personalities/skills complement or contrast with each other?"

They are both the brains, but Orville is like, friendlier, while Raymond is more calculated.

When Ray is getting too heated, Orville is the one who colds him down, and shows him that sometimes, the best course of action is kindness. Meanwhile, when Orville gets too much in his head over other's opinion, Ray is there to remind him that he is enough, and the only validation he needs is his own. There are other things but i think this is what it boils down to: they both are the same at their core, but their approaches are different. They uplift each other's qualities and soothe their defects.

4."What is their favorite aspect of each other?"

Personality wise, Raymond loves Orville's cheerfulness. He is used to very serious and formal people, so having someone who, with just a smile, is able to lift up the mood in a room is a breath of fresh air.

In a superficial level...well, in my au, Orville used to play various sport so he has an athletic build. Raymond finds that. interesting. (he looks respectfully at his...heart).

Personality wise, Orville likes Raymond's gentleman-like attitude: when they are off the clock, Ray is very affectionate...in the way cats are lol. But he is also very respectful and thoughtful of him (when he is tired, Raymond will do anything to get him relax).

In a superficial level, his eyes. They're captivating. (and his teeth, but i won't talk about that now.)

5."Do either of them have pet peeves about each other?"

I think they have the same pet peeve: they both get too focused on their jobs. Since they both work with data and all, sometimes it might turn into a fierce competition of "who can finish their work faster?" or "who can work while with 2 hours of sleep and 5 coffees on their system".

But also...Ray can be too quick to cast judgment, while Orville gives the benefit of the doubt excessively.

6."How would each reconcile with each other after a fight?"

Hmmm...

I think they wouldn't have many very serious fights, but if it were to get messy (messy in the "one of them storms out" kinda way), i think it would be a problem.

Orville, whether he has done something wrong or not, would start blaming himself and hide in his work (whether it is as punishment or as a way to not think about it is up to you). While Raymond would shut down and try to be alone so he can get his thoughts right. After a while (like a day), they would run to each other's arms apologizing (and crying because they're kinda dramatic) and have a long talk. like, crazy long, they would yap into the night.

7."What would be their ideal vacation getaway together?"

Since they already live on an island, i think a trip to the city would be nice, or maybe to the mountains? Where i come from, there are a lot of those and i really like it, the views are great and the food more so.

Yeah...a trip to a little city in the mountains (pamplona style lol) would be a fun scenario to write.

8."Think of a new way (AU, different situation, etc.) they could have met for the first time."

After watching studio ghibli's Porco Rosso last week (again), i had this idea for an AU in which they world is mostly drowned in oceans and aeronautics/aviation is in its peak. in this AU, Raymond lives in the city (which is just a big, urban island) and because of things that had happened (politics, war, etc), he has a trip to the island in which a long lost legend in aircraft now resides (or hides?) but instead he meets his brother (Orville) who he ends up falling head over heels for.

There are a lot of other things that happens in this AU but they're mostly focus on Wilbur because, he is the pilot lol. But if you have seen Porco Rosso, maybe you can imagine what happens? (the climax is similar to that of the movie, but also very different? i'll write about it one day...maybe...)

Someone reblogged your ask game, I thought it would be fun to throw something at you after seeing it, and so have a Touhou crack pairing.

Parsee x Seija.

I'm so sorry for the late respond! I genuinely had to give this one a lot of thought because is such a curious ship...I'll do my best to keep them close to canon, but please know that i'm not that invested in Parsee and Seija's lore, so this might be a very superficial/shallow interpretation of them...

1-How differently do they think of each other now compared to when they first met?

Because of Parsee's nature, I think her opinion of Seija has changed that much: she still envies her freedom and how little she cares about what other thinks, but now there is a sense of guilt with it. She might genuinely like Seija and wishes she could be as free as her to love her right...is very tragic.

Seija in the other hand…since her whole thing is "reversing" things, she was totally annoying Parsee by claiming she isn't freer than her, and that her nature chained her to be always alone. Funnily enough, is in that same shared loneliness that feelings might have started to bloom. Unfortunately, an Amanojaku can never really make friends...

2-What do their friends/family think of their relationship?

For Parsee, i'll take as "friends" Yamame, Kisume, Yuugi and to an extent Satori: Both Yamame and Kisume are surprise that someone like Parsee was able to get close (let alone romantically) to another person, but after knowing is that troublesome Amanojaku they think it makes sense. Yuugi and Satori are the ones relief Parsee has someone besides her that somehow is able to get the best out of her (although they aren't sure if her methods are healthy). Satori is specially happy, as she knows deep down, Parsee's love for Seija can be real, but her jealous nature makes it difficult.

For Seija: Shin is genuinely surprise, but also happy. She knows Seija better than most, and although the latter will never admit it, company does her well.

3-How do their personalities/skills complement or contrast with each other?

They're already opposites because of Seija's ability, but also, like i said, their natures makes them disliked by other and lonely...so, even if they can find common ground most of the time, they can understand each other on a deeper level than most.

Seija's freedom of being herself goes along perfectly with Parsee's insatiable need of comparing herself to others. In a way, they compliment what the other is lacking.

4-What is their favorite aspect of each other?

Parsee (in her own way) admires Seija's carelessness regarding everything that should make sense, as she operates on a contrarian logic. She doesn't suffer because of what she's lacking- actually, she rejoices on it! Of course, this is also a target of Parsee's jealousy.

Seija, as she goes against everything others thinks, likes Parsee's jealousy. She thinks is fair of her to envy everything and everyone, to be so self-centered, "people should be more like that!" she might think.

5-Do either of them have pet peeves about each other?

Funnily enough, Parsee's favorite aspect about Seija is the same thing she dislikes the most. She wishes Seija was more in-line like others, she wishes she could be as miserable as her (despite already being!) but...she also wishes she never changes. Is difficult, to love so much you start to hate, and to hate so passionately that love begins to bloom.

Seija doesn't like when Parsee is being two-faced, she prefers it when she is her truest, most horrid self. Is enchanting.

6-How would each reconcile with each other after a fight?

This one took me the most to think about...

Of course they would have a lot of fights, after all they aren't that...healthy. But i think after being alone with themselves, they would inevitably go back to each other. Never apologizing (unless Parsee, somehow, thinks she is in the wrong and Seija senses it and takes the fault, just to go against her) but enjoying the company of the other.

7-What would be their ideal vacation getaway together?

Somewhere they can cause trouble to other lovely couples lol.

8-Think of a new way (AU, different situation, etc.) they could have met for the first time.

Parsee is a Hashihime, so...maybe an AU in which they meet before Parsee becomes one, and Seija, just to go against things, actually encourages her to not feel jealous of her lover leaving her for another woman (like in The Tale of Heike) and insists that she should rejoice in her new found freedom.

It would be one of those rare instances in which Seija's powers have a more positive outcome.

I'm actually really thankful for this ask, 'cause it pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me write about characters and dynamics I'm not that into. I hope my answers could satisfy you!

I know absolutely nothing about touhou BUT this is for the ask game.. I’m curious about Eiki and Yuyuko because I’ve seen you post about them

i appreciate you send this because i've been thinking about them lately, my shaylas…

"How differently do they think of each other now compared to when they first met?"

I think even at the beginning, Yuyuko hold Eiki to high regards, as she was her "boss" (kinda? is difficult), but just like everyone else, she only saw the "severe and preachy Yama". With Eiki, in the other hand, because of her ability to tell good from evil, she knew Yuyuko had a good heart despite her powers of luring people to death, but still kept an eye on her just in case.

Now, after so many years together, they see a more "softer" and "real" side of each other: Yuyuko knows how deeply Eiki cares about others and that her sternness regarding judgment and proper change is born from a place of concern. Meanwhile, Eiki sees that, behind the cheerful and friendly personality, Yuyuko is very aware of the things around, and that's probably born from a place of guilt (although she most likely can't remember why) and melancholy, as she is a ghost whose unable to move on

2. "What do their friends/family think of their relationship?"

This is a fun one.

I'll start by Eiki's side: Komachi and Kutaka. They are very happy for their boss (and honestly relief, as she seems more relax after spending time with Yuyuko and doesn't scold them as harshly lol).

Now, following up with Yuyuko's side: Youmu was very surprise at first, as she didn't thought Eiki of all people would be interested in Yuyuko in a romantic way; she only saw the most surface-level of their relationship up to that point, but the fact that they're together probably answered a lot of Youmu's questions regarding Eiki's visits. Now…Yukari. damn. She probably raised an eyebrow and ask "Oh, her?" while taking a looong sip of her tea. At first she wouldn't like the idea, as she sees Eiki as too uptight and boring, but with time, she would've to recognize that she makes Yuyuko happy, and if anything, them being an item and working together more than ever is a win for her and gensokyo.

I have this idea of Yuyuko inviting Eiki and Komachi to the Hakugyokurou from time to time to "discuss important matters", but most of the time, it ends up being an excuse to spend time with her gf, while Komachi and Youmu have to bond over the fact that their bosses are together lol. this one is for a silly fanfic/comic.

"How do their personalities/skills complement or contrast with each other?"

Yuyuko is very friendly, while Eiki is rather serious, so the contrast is very obvious, but it's exactly that the reason they work so well. At their hearts, both care and work for life in its various facets (Yuyu for the departed, and Eiki for reincarnation although she extends it by scolding the living so they can better their lifes and have more chances at it.) Yuyuko's friendlier approach at treating others softens Eiki's rougher edges, while Eiki's demanding approach can pretend Yuyuko from getting too playful and deceptive in situations were an immediate response is the best course of action.

4. "What is their favorite aspect of each other?"

For Yuyuko, i think Eiki's fervent dedication to her job (and in a more superficial way, her height? Is very "intimidating" lol) and for Eiki, Yuyuko's charming (and disarming) personality, is very helpful! (and again, in a superficial way, her hair, very flowy and silky...)

5. "Do either of them have pet peeves about each other?"

Despite how much she admires her, Yuyuko probably has a limit when it comes to Eiki's scolding of other; she knows she is doing it for the right reasons, but she thinks there must be better ways.

Eiki really likes Yuyuko's more "hidden" side (her cunningness), but even for her, is at times difficult to read her true intentions or thoughts in a situation, and is specially annoying if it's a situation which she believes has a more straightforward answer.

6. "How would each reconcile with each other after a fight?"

Honestly, i think is very unlikely of them to fight, but if they were to have misunderstanding that leads to a very messy aftermath (i'm talking like, leaving each other alone to get some space because they're fuming with frustration) im sure Eiki would be the first one to want and talk it out.

She has a very rigid perspective of what's right and wrong, but even she knows there are bumps along the way, so i can see her approaching Yuyuko to apologize for her behavior but still not downplay her wrongdoings. Yuyu, in the other hand, i can see being a bit more hurt over a fight, but still hide it behind her usual playful self (but leaning towards a more sarcastic, cutting edge kind of playful).

But, of course, she knows this isn't something to be super resentful over, and after some time alone and maybe a cup of tea, she would sincerely apologize.

I can see this strengthening their relationship actually...and it would be a good scenario for a fic...*rubs hands*.

7. "What would be their ideal vacation getaway together?"

Probably an Onsen; it would be a quiet and relaxing vacation, and honestly with how hard Eiki works, it would do her good. After that they can go and eat a nice dinner.

8. "Think of a new way (AU, different situation, etc.) they could have met for the first time."

I'm gonna go for an AU because...it gives me the chance to talk about my idea for a touhou modern setting AU hehehe.

It would be funny if they meet before (maybe high school? in which Eiki was the president of the school council and Yuyuko a class representative) and then meet again when Youmu gets in trouble and Yuyuko is to one who has to go to her school to talk and, surprise surprise, Eiki is the one calling her for a meeting.

I just really like slice-of-life type of comedies...

Also, in a more "canon-to-the-lore" way...it would be heartbreaking if Eiki (has a Jizo) had meet Yuyuko when she was alive and they'd establish a close friendship...only to reunite in the afterlife, after Eiki became the Yama and she has to yield judgment over Yuyuko's soul for taking her own life (and the life of many others, although unconsciously).

This took me A LOT to write omg. I had to get my ideas right and then try and translate them into english in the most coherent way possible lol. Once again, thank you for the ask despite not knowing about touhou and this two, this was a fun writing exercise! (and also a way to talk about one of my fav ships tehehehe)

Probably won't be able to make much progress in the video today, so I'll leave you all with a fragment of what I wrote on the plane the other day.

naughty wilbur...(fic)

have you ever being alone at the comfort of your house, and feel somebody watching you? no.

but i have this past late 3 weeks, ever since i bought animal crossing new horizons. now, everyone loves animal crossing, i wasnt the expection, so i bought the new game. when i started, i put my name: wilbur

everything was normal, i did as tom nook said and i find my villagers a place to stay, who they are is irrelevant to the matter. i was having lots of fun, and then i had to name my iland. i wrote down: bend. i played a little more, but i got curious, can you go to the airpert at this point in the game?? i went running to the airport to check and, surprisingly, i got inside and there was…nobody. i went to the counter to see if orville was there hiding. i really like orville. but he wasnt there. i got sad and left.

i went to sleep (in my island) and had the usual conversation with k.k slider, but at the end, he said something to me that was strange. he said: “watch out for the naughtiest one”. i was shock at such words, strange…very strange. anyways, i played normally the next day, picking fruit, picking stick, erranding for tom nook. but while i was talking to him, a dialogue appeared: “you see [wilbur], i’ve been worried about something…last night, our trusty pilot, Wilbur, was acting strange.” 

I blenk, surprise.

toom nook continued his dialogue: “if you could go check in on him, i would greatly appreciate it, yes yes!” i stared at the screen, dumbfounded. what did this mean. i went to the airport again, and again orville wasnt there. i was sad. but the doors that were close were now, open. i thought about going in there, but i didnt want to, so i leave…that is what i would say, if i was lying. i went right through the open gates and the screen went black. the little symbol of charging was there, on the corner, but something was wrong. the symbol wasn’t the usual island one, but rather…the horror! orville?! but he was…laying there!! no! orville are you okay?! i was feeling nauseous at the thought of something bad having happened to my favorite character..

when the screen went back, i was in a scenario i have never seen before…we were behind the airport, on the bridge that connects to where the plane was. i have never seen this before…i walk up to the plane, but before i could do anything, my game glitched…no…it wasnt a normal glitch…it was…who is that?! who is that.

it was a face, not human but rather…bird?! i didnt know what to think. thankfully my game came back to normality, i think. but i wasnt in the place of before, now i was..at an island?! what!? i was well into the island’s land, which is weird, because you’re usually left in the dock with…wilbur!

i run to the dock, and i saw nothing…no one was there…what. i was very freak out, but the thought of having found a secret was exciting, and honestly, i was more excited than scared. because is animal. crossing, its not scary guys. i decided to go on and explore the island, like normal. it was a standar big fish island, unfortunately i didnt have a velting pole to go to the little bit of land in the middle. woah…thanks wilbur! i said to myself, sarcastically.

i explore a little more before i got bore…so i went back to the dock to see if wilbur was there so he could take me back home, and…he was…

but that wasnt wilbur

it was…different.

he looked disheveled, and had an…evil smile, on his bird face. i was weird out, what happen to you wilbur?

“im feeling it”

what?!

“im feeling it…the naaaaughtyyyy”

what was that?!!! i got so scared i almost fell out the bed. what did you say?! i said out loud.

“hahaha. didnt you hear me? im metaphorsing…into something greater” did wilbur answer to me?! what??!!!!

i wanted to turn down my console, but wilbur shake his head, and the button didnt work. “tch tch, silly kid. this is MY wild world now.” i couldnt believe my ears.

wilbur what is this!??! stop it im scared! i said to him and wilbur just cross his arms…wings. “no can do, now im the one playing. and today? we are playing..naughty”

i was. shit. i was so scared, i thought about leaving my room, but wilbur spoke again. “dont even think about it, shmuck! i already close all the doors in this house” noooo! wuaaah!!! i cried.

what do you want from me naughty wilbur?! i havent done anything to you!!! “yes you have” he said. “you have enter my world, thinking you could control it! how foolish of you…hahahah!” stop thiiiis!!! wilbuuuur!!!

“now youll se my power, and end up like my dear brother, polite orville.” whaaat?! i screamed angry. what…what did you do to him??

naughty wilbur just laughed, evilly. “he was a great dodo, but i had to get rid of him…now he is Delta Echo Alpha Delta!!!” 

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! i punched the wall, angry. how…how could you…i said in tears. grrrr, youll pay for thiiiis!

“there is nothing you can do to stop me. after i take complete control of your mind, ill expand my reign…to…new horizons.!”

Not if i stop it!!! i throw the console to the wall. 

“auch” said wilbur in incredible pain, i could see it in his pixely sunglasses. after what you did to my favorite character, orville, youll see….my rage!!!

then we began to battle. i cant tell you how it was possible, or how it went. but it was a very bloody fight of mights, and the fate of the universe…i won.

i raised up my fist, victorious, as naughty wilbur layed on the ground. heh…you see wilbur…i couldn’t have done this without my love for orville and humanity…a being of darkness and naughtiness could never understand something as pure as that!!

“urghhhhg… this…isnt…the last of me!”

then he teleported out of my bedroom. i sigh, and then fall to my knees, crying. im sorry orville…i couldnt save you…

“is okay…” i heard an angelic voice, like that of my beautiful blue dodo orville. i look up, and it was in fact him, in the air, flying!

o-orville youre flying…i said, with a big smile on my punched messed up face. im sorry i could…

“is okay buddy! now i can…rest in peace…but know my evil brother, naughty wilbur, will be back…prepare for that”

yes orville, i will, i said between sobs then…he faded away in the wind…like a memory…

i understood then…that i had to prepare for the worst…i had to train so i could once again defeat that horrible horrible being that was…

Okay, maybe finding Raymond didn’t turn out to be that easy.

He looked in the places he knew Raymond would usually hang out (or at least the ones they both had hung out), and when he didn’t find him, he headed to his house. Turns out, he wasn’t there either. Fortunately, one of Raymond’s neighbors, Friga, was around to tell him that she saw him. 

Unfortunately, she said that Raymond seemed tense, even erratic, and wherever he went, she didn’t know. Great, now he was even more worried. But if anything, this kind of confirmed his suspicions regarding Raymond’s behavior early.

He began to walk aimlessly through the night scenery of the island. It was less lively than usual, with the only sounds that weren’t the cold wind and the rustling of the flowers’ petals coming from his footsteps. Wonder why is so lonely tonight–

The cracking of a stick resonated in the silence and caught his attention, immediately looking for the source of the sound. Then, he saw it, or rather, him.

When he told Raymond about the rumors, he wasn’t being completely honest with his opinion: Yes, he believed the residents saw something, but the most logical part of his brain insisted that, if real, it was probably a small creature, and that fear made them recall the image of a big, scary monster.

But now, he could say by firsthand experience that he was, indeed, big. And hairy.

Wait, what?

He took a step closer to the silhouette hiding in the shadows, as slowly as possible. The creature froze and Orville had the chance to look him in the eyes; there was a familiar shine in them, a mix of rich, deep brown and an intense yet captivating light green. Just…just like–

The creature shrank back as Orville took another step and quickly turned on his heel, running into the depths of the dark woods. Orville let out a shaky breath he didn't even know he was holding.

What…but, why? Lost in thought, he took another step forward, his shoe landing right on top of a plastic-ky stick-like thing that immediately cracked under the pressure. Startled, he looked down to find a pair of glasses, their right temple now broken.

Raymond…Raymond's glasses! He knew them perfectly (because he had seen them numerous times. up close. for no particular reason). Carefully, he picked them up, and a chill ran up his spine. Raymond…oh god, Raymond!

Without wasting time, Orville ran into the woods, trying to follow the trail the creature had left; what awaited ahead of him was a lonely landscape, consumed by nature. There have been talks about turning this side of the island into…something, but to this day, they haven't been able to settle on a concrete plan of action.

The shadows cast by the trees made it difficult for him to spot who he was looking for, but he moved forward nonetheless. There was a vague, crazy idea on his mind, something akin to an explanation, but even he knew it was too fantastical to be real…right?

He followed any sound that could indicate the presence of someone else, alongside the footsteps the moonlight illuminated. It didn’t take him long until he arrived at the end of the trail, right before the ocean waves came crashing at the sand. Looking forward he doubted the creature would have walked right into the ocean (more if he was who he thought it was), so the only path left was the one heading south.

The sound of the ocean made it difficult to identify any clue of company, luckily, the beach had the clearest sight out of all that desolate side of the island. As he walked, his mind raced with a single thought: how?

As he arrived at the rock shore, he saw someone sitting there, facing the sea. The first thing he noticed was his grey fur followed by the vest he was wearing. Sticking out of the end of the vest and the beginning of his pants, was now a black tail, its fur shorter than the rest of the body. Orville let out a shaky sigh, and he called his name:

“...Raymond?”

The creature– no, Raymond, his friend, turned his head around. His ears were standing straight, resembling that of a wolf (or, maybe a cat?). Actually, his whole face had morphed into something akin to a feline; even his eyes, that had retained their characteristic heterocromia, fashioned the slit pupil one would see in cats and the likes; He had also grown a few inches, probably reaching Orville’s height (or maybe even towering over him).

Now, completely sure, he took a step forward. “Ah…is– it’s really you”

Raymond’s face contorted with fear, shame? It was difficult to tell because of his new features, but the way it quickly looked away, as if trying to hide told him all he needed to know.

“Hey…I-is okay”

“No.” Raymond’s voice made him stop in his tracks; it had gained a lower, kind of raspier tone to it, but underneath all, it was still his, it was still Raymond’s.

“What?”

“It is not…it’s not okay!” He whined out. “Look at me! Just look!”

“I-i’m looking!”

“And you say ‘it’s okay’?!”

“Yeah???”

With a frustrated growl, Raymond turned around, his transformation on full display: He had really become a…werecat. He stood up and walked towards Orville, holding himself in a tight hug, and his head hanging low, but his eyes– those shiny eyes, were glued to Orville’s every move, however slight it was.

Holy shit he is big.

“I am not the man you knew, Orville. I am not your dear friend Raymond…not anymore.” Standing just a few feet away from him, Raymond fell to his knees, holding his face between his clawed paws. “I am…I am…”

“Ray, listen. This is unconventional but, I-i mean, isn’t everyone a lil’ bit of a dog inside–?”

“I’m a monster!”

“This is what I am! Look at it!”

Orville’s eyes were fixated on Raymond, examining every little detail. “I’m looking Ray, I'm looking…it’s okay, really!”

“Okay?! Hah!” Raymond scoffed. “This is the skin– This is the fur…of a monster, Orville.”

Orville’s eyes opened wide, No way–

“And now…this is all of me…”

Raymond (tried) to roar as his face looked up to the moon. Closing his eyes with force, he let out a howl…

Well, it was closer to a very wounded meow than a howl.

After letting his feelings roam free out of his chest, Raymond slowly looked down at Orville, expecting the worst: fear, disgust, laugh– uh?

Covering his mouth, Orvilled looked at him with tears threatening to leave his eyes; His cheeks were tinted red and he was trying his best to stop the little giggles and snorts that were muffled thanks to his palm. Raymond was bewildered.

“You…are you laughing at me?!”

“N-No!” Orvilled managed to say, nearly cackling.

“You are! You’re laughing, in my face!”

“I’m– oh gosh, Ray–”

“I’m ovah’ here, trying to– to express myself, as honest as one can, no?! And you’re here, laughing!”

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, okay?” Orville could hold it anymore; he fell to his knees, laughing. “Y-you just, aw man, you didn’t–!”

“What?!”

“That’s Edward’s line! You cited Edward’s line!”

Raymond went quiet, and despite the fur, a blush spread through his cheeks.

“Shouldn’t you cite Jacob?” Orville asked through giggles wholeheartedly, rather than jeer.

“I don’t– I do not like Jacob, we have been through this before”

“R-right, right! Oh, but then– the meow!” Slowly, his laughter died down. Letting out a sigh, Orvilled looked at Raymond, giving him a sweet smile. “It was very, very cute”

Raymond just snorted, looking away.

Still on his knees, Orvilled moved closer to Raymond. “Hey…so…” Orvilled began, with a whisper. Slightly hesitant, Raymond also moved closer, just to hear him better. –-

“How did, uh, this,” He signed with his hand Raymond’s whole body. “–-happened?”

“I would also like to know that…”

Raymond sat on the sand, and Orville followed through. “It started after I visited the mainland, a week ago. I do not know how to control it…”

“Hm, I see…”

“The first time it happened: I was out, exploring this side of land when…” A chill seemed to run through his spine. “I…became this. It was awful”

“I…I didn’t feel like myself: It was still me, yes, but– I wasn’t me, completely…” Raymond frowned, looking at his hand– er, paw, with anger. “I feared that…i lost myself”

“Uh? Did you…have urges or something?”

“No…well, I don't think they were urges…or were they? Ugh!” Raymond closed his paw in a fist, despite the pain of his claw scratching his skin. “I began to imagine…horrible, horrible things. What if I lose control and hurt someone? What if someone hurt me? I didn’t know what do, i just–”

“Cry.”

Orville gasp in surprise.

“I just cried out, until I couldn't anymore.” The expression on Raymond’s face was miserable, holding back tears at the memory. “The next morning I was back to normal, but…i still feared myself.”

“And you…didn’t ask for help”

“I did not know how to! I was close to asking Rosie but…I regretted at the last second, I knew that she would freak out” Raymond sigh heavily, and it took him a lot of strength to say the following: “I even thought of…asking you…”

It all was starting to fall into place: the villagers recounts of their experiences, the claws on the airport’s entrance, that shiny in Raymond’s eyes earlier– All of these clues, all of that suffering in silence, and he didn’t notice!

He looked at his friend. “Raymond…oh, Ray…” Without thinking it much, he placed his hand over Raymond’s paw. “I’m sorry”

“Uh?” Their eyes met, and for a second, everything went quiet.

“But, it's alright, it's gonna be. I’m here for ya´”

“Orville…”

For a moment, everything felt like it was truly going to be okay. Unconsciously, Raymond held Orville’s hand tightly, hoping it would never leave his grasp.

But, when he looked down, his illusions came crashing down. Orville’s skin, warmth and full of life, human, unlike his paws– furry and cold…it could never be, not anymore.

Raymond let go of his hand, retrieving to himself, almost ashamed of even uttering the thought of comfort. “No…i do not know if…Did you forget what happened earlier? I can’t…i can’t control myself, not around you, not like before–”

“Ray–”

“Even the thought of doing that–! I don’t know where it came from! I-i couldn’t…help but think…”

“Raymond.”

“If I ever lost myself to those feelings, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself–”

“I know you can.”

Before Raymond could even turn to look at him, Orville was already closing the distance between them, his gaze intense. Raymond’s breath caught on his throat, and once again, he could delight in the sight of those beautiful brown eyes. 

The closeness, turning so casual between them, as if they have known each other a whole lifetime, it reminded him of…

“No…no way, are you–?”

Orville smiled. “I’m not afraid of you.” He took Raymond’s hand, once again. “I’m only afraid of losing you, that you’ll disappear…” 

Raymond could only smile back; if there was someone as corny as him, it definitely was Orville, and god was he glad it was him, of all people.

Trying to hold back his laughter, he tried his best shot at a low, sultry voice. “You do not know how long…I have looked for you.” Nervous, he put his paw away from Orville’s hand and, instead, slid it into his chest, to slowly make his way to his neck, holding it still.

“A-and so…” He looked at Orville for reassurance, and received an excited nod. “–And so, the lion fell…f-fell in love, with the lamb”

They shared a moment of silence, before bursting out into laughter. 

“W-what a– what a dumb idiot of a lamb!”

“Heh– That is not what Bella says!”

“Sorry, sorry!” Whipping away the tiny tears that managed to escape his eyes, Orville tried to catch his breath. “You did– god, you did pretty well tho, better than the original Edward”

Raymond also catches his breath, before putting on his best, smug-ish smile. “Of course I did, I was born for the role you see.”

“Yeah, sure. I almost believe it!”

“Rig– uh?” Raymond looked at him, confused. “What do you mean ‘almost’?”

Orville’s smile slowly fade. He stared at Raymond for a second, before looking down. “Ah…well, I didn't thought you…”

“I meant it…” 

Orville looked up, his lips shaking.

“I really meant it…”

“Oh…”

He didn’t want to see his face, as it probably was a red mess. “Ah, haha…woah”

“Yeah…”

Their moment was, unfortunately, interrupted by a high-speed pebble that flew right into Raymond’s head. 

“Agh! What the fu–?!”

Their heads turn to place where the pebble originated, only to find that weird kid (in Raymond’s eyes) that Mr. Nook named as the island representative. They were holding a colorful slingshot in their hands, and despite their poker face, they seemed satisfied with the hit they just landed.

“What is your–?!”

“Ah, hey Orville. Didn’t see you, there.” They said, completely ignoring Raymond’s presence. “Is that a real werewolf?”

“Sirica, hey…uh” Orville turned to look at Raymond, who was clearly offended by the child’s words. “N-no, is Raymond. You see, uh…well, it's complicated!”

“Raymond..?” The kid tilted their head, thinking for a second. Raymond was beyond insulted. “Ah…the money guy–”

“Finances!” He finally interrupted. “I am not the ‘money guy’! Is finances! How many times do I have to remind you?!”

“Ah…and it sounds just like him…” Their face showed disappointment. “I thought it was a real werewolf…bummer”

“You–!”

“Hey, buddy,” Orville stood up and walked towards the kid. “Can you do me a favor and not tell anyone else?”

“Uh?”

“We’re trying to…solve this little issue, and the least we need is people freaking out.” Orville ended his request with a smile, and despite not showing it, Sirica couldn’t resist his charm.

They snort, crossing their arms. “Sure, whatever…”

“Thank you, friend”

“...hm” Sirica nod.

Raymond, who had also stood up and was now standing beside Orville, looked at the kid. “Aren’t you…past your bedtime?”

The kid glanced at Raymond, annoyed, and the latter only smirked, feeling triumphant.

“Actually, that’s a good question,” Orville said, before they began to argue. “Why are you up so late?”

“Ah…” The kid sighed. “I was looking for you at the airport. Mr. Wilbur said you were out…”

“Oh– Heh, sorry” Orvilled said embarrassed, right, despite the possibilities being low, the chance of Sirica showing up so late for a flight was never zero. “A nook miles ticket I assumed?”

“No…Harvey’s–” Their eyes widened, and they stared at Raymond. “...Hm”

A little startled, Raymond muttered: “What?”

“I…may know someone…” They trailed off. Both men looked at each other, Orville more intrigued than Raymond.

“You know someone..?”

“Someone that…may or may not help you” They directed their attention to Raymond. “But…”

“Agh, What?! That again? Fine, I'll do it!” Orville looked at him surprised, uh???

The kid smiled deviously. “You promise?”

“Yes, yes! Whatever! It's not like I'll find anything new!”

Sirica gave him a big grin. “Thank you”

Orville just stared at the two, confused.

“So, a curse, uh?” Orville took a sip out of his coffee, not taking his eyes away from the computer’s screen.

“Yeah, the lady said it probably was because of that fountain…” Raymond sigh, leaning his elbows on the service desk.

“Fountain?”

“I…did not think it was important, but: while on the mainland, I stumbled across this beautiful fountain in the middle of the city’s plaza. I was eating this delicious sandwich– very high quality fish– and the train was about to leave, so…”

“So?”

“I…kind of threw the wrap paper…on the fountain” Raymond averted his gaze from Orville, knowing fully well the kind of look the other was giving him.

“Littering, uh? Not cool Ray”

“I know, I know! That ‘Catrina’ lady said the same…” He sighed. “She said there was a chance I had offended the ‘fountain goddess’ –apparently those exist– and she cursed me for my insolence” 

“But, it’s gone now, right?”

“Yeah…it was a hassle, really. I spent almost half an hour in the middle of a circle, apologizing to whatever it was that cursed me” He frowned at the memory. “That kid…they were on the corner of the tent, laughing…”

“Sirica is like that at times,” Orville said, trying not to laugh; that kid…what a case. “But at least they help you”

“Yeah, right, just because of that thing…”

“I…don’t know if I should pry on it, but: what did they ask of you?”

“Ah, nothing special. Some old maps they wanted me to translate for them– ugh, what were they about again?” Giving up on remembering, Raymond just scoffed. “Whatever, that was not what I wanted to talk with you about.”

Orville looked at him. He was half expecting what was coming, and a smile sneaked its way into his face. “Hm? What is it, then?”

Raymond doubted for a second, before gathering the courage to ask: “Are you, uh…free tonight? I would like to…thank you, for helping, I mean…”

“Eh? But I didn't do anything…” He giggled with feigned ignorance.

Raymond limited himself to smiling, despite the reddish tone that had settled on his cheeks. “Stop playing…yes or no?”

“Heh” Orville smirked, ignoring how warm his own face had gotten. “Sure.”

"Rumors about a creature stalking in the night spread throughout the island. Orville discusses the topic with his close friend, Raymond."

Nights on the island were usually quiet. It wasn't uncommon to see the resident walking by, reading under the moonlight, or having make-shift karaoke sessions in the middle of the plaza. Even those who went to sleep late did so because of how safe it was to roam around the island. 

That was until something strange happened. 

It started as a throwaway comment on the Roost: Hans said he heard a loud cry the other night while exploring the desolate side of the island, he described it as “something akin to a howl”; Then, the next day, Rosie commented on a trail of weird-looking footsteps in front of her house that lead to the beach, in which they disappeared; the rumor breached containment a week later, when Filbert told Velma during the morning aerobics about the scary shadow he saw looming on the bridge, unaware of the small audience that gathered around as he explained in detail how, after noticing his presence, the thing sprint towards the trees, blending in with the shadows of the nights.

Paranoia began spreading through the residents, and with how small the place was it didn't take long until Orville also heard of the terrifying tale of the creature that prowled in the night.

“You really believe in that?” It was what Raymond, his– uh, “friend” said when he brought up the topic while on lunch break (it had become a habit of them to hang out in what little time they had off the clock). 

“I didn't say I did, but, it gets to a point you know?” He replied before taking a bite out of the homemade burgers he cooked up this morning. Of course, he rose an hour early just to make Raymond some, he said he was quite fond of his cooking, so why not?

“It is just an unfortunate case of mass hysteria, although, for such a small place, “mass” isn't much” Raymond followed up with a giggle. He couldn't help but smile, for all the serious and calculated facade he put up, Ray was as much of a dork as him.

“Nah, I don't think so. People definitely saw something, actually–”

Orville looked around –more to add to the mystery than to actually make sure no one was around– and lowered his voice to a whisper. “The other day, Isabelle told me she saw some marks– claw marks in the entrance to the airport”

Raymond went quiet. He didn't look at him, instead focusing his attention on the burger he was holding; Is he gonna take a bite? Orville thought for an instant as he waited for a reaction, anything. I hope he liked it… His mind almost began to wander when Raymond finally spoke up.

“Did– did you check?”

“Yeah”

“Were they…there?” Maybe it was his imagination, but he swore he saw Raymond's grip tighten for a second. Ah! Careful, you're gonna spill the sauce! Went through his mind for a moment.

Now Orville was the one quiet. The lack of an immediate response tensed the air around the two. Raymond took a glance his way, and his breath hitched when he noticed Orville slowly moving closer towards him– towards his face.

Suddenly their eyes locked, and for the life of him Raymond couldn't (or didn't want to) look away. He had noticed before, but Orville's eyes, as big and round as they were, carried an intensity to them sometimes; When he tilted his head down slightly and looked at him directly, as he warned him of an overstep in his words; Or when he was glued to the screen, working nonstop to get a report finished; Or –and this were his favorite– when he got all flustered after the tiniest, most banal of compliments, god did that particular shade of reddish pink suit him well–

“Yes.”

Raymond was abruptly taken from his mental rant when Orville answered with a whisper, followed by a rather mischievous smile. “I saw them today– not too deep but, man, was it kinda freaky!”

“Hah, I see…” Feeling tense again, Raymond looked away and finally stuffed his mouth with his lunch. Orville backed away and sighed. Having lost his appetite, he began to pack the remaining of his burger.

“I told Wil about it, and, you know what he said?!” He didn't wait for an answer. “He said: “Whatever that thing is, it's coming after you”, and laughed!” Raymond almost choked, as he too was tempted to laugh.

“I told him: “Man, if he is actually after me, I just hope–”

“He?” Raymond interrupted, surprised 

“Ah, well, it's easier to call it a he”

“Oh, right…”

“Anyways, I told Wil: “I just hope he's friendly”, ya know? It would be way easier to deal with” Raymond's eyes once again traveled away, carrying uncertainty with them.

“You do not sound very afraid of this thing.”

“I don't think I should be. I mean, how bad could it be, really?”

“You are too thrusting, Orville” Raymond's voice sounded somewhat annoyed, as if he was scolding the other.

Orville simply shrugged, unapologetic. “Who knows? Maybe he needs a friend”

“You're kidding me,” Raymond said under his breath.

“Really! I mean, why else would he come to this island?” Orville tried not to laugh: Raymond was funny when he got angry. “And, well, if he wanted to do something like, I dunno, eat me or somethin’, he had his chance!”

Raymond just looked at him, with a frown.

“If he didn't do it already, I think I'm safe!”

“You do not know that”

Whether it was the heat of the moment, or the eagerness to push Raymond towards the edge a little more, Orville continued. “Well, maybe, just maybe I know, because I'm still here in one piece–”

“Maybe,” Suddenly, Raymond was all in his face, with a strained, toothy smile (were his canines always that prominent?), his words with a mix of irritation and his same mischief. “Just maybe, “He” is waiting for the right time to strike”

He didn't notice how close Raymond was getting, until he paused, and they were seemingly sharing the same breath. “And then–” Was he going crazy or was the room actually getting kind of hot–?

With a smile– a kinda sinister smile, he thought– Raymond snapped his fingers, bringing him back to reality. “One bite, and you're gone”

“H-hah…” Orville could only let out a very meek laugh. His face was burning up and sweat was running down his forehead– well, that's what I get for daring. 

It wasn't until a few seconds later that Raymond seemed to register how confidently close he was to Orville’s face, and in a clumsy move, he backed away. The room fell into silence.

What was that? It was the only thought in Orville’s mind. He has seen Ray angry before, it was very common, but this time– this time it was different. Was it a momentary rush? Or did he actually get mad at his reckless attitude? Whatever it was, he turned to look his way, searching for a sign, an answer, only to find Raymond, with his eyes dilated and mouth covered by his hand. 

“W-woah! Ray, you alright? –”

“I am sorry”

“What? No, it’s okay, I don't mind–uh, whatever you’re sorry for?”

“No, it is not that– I am sorry, I do not know what got into me–!” Raymond’s hand went from his mouth to his forehead, closing his eyes with force and turning his head away, in hopes of hiding his shame, or was it something more? It was so sudden, and his worries did nothing more than grow.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay, for real! I was being annoying, I get it” Did I upset him? Of course I did, I always do it–

Raymond stood up, still hiding his gaze from Orville. “Excuse me…” 

“Wait, Ray–”

But he knew better than to bother him even more, he had done enough. Orville could only watch him take his leave without uttering a single word. He looked down, where Raymond had been sitting a second ago.

Ah, he forgot his lunchbox…

 He didn't know when to shut up, did he?

“Hey”

“You're closing today?”

“Orville?”

“Hey, Orville.”

“I'm talking to you.” The sudden weight of Wilbur's hand on his shoulder made him jump. What time was it again? He remembered diving headfirst into work right after having lunch with–

Ah, right.

“Orville,” He looked at his brother, still startled. “You alright man?” It wasn't strange for Wilbur to be so worried about him, but the look on his face made him think he was looking particularly miserable today.

How could he not? He made Raymond upset, and he was just looking out for him! He needed to shut his mouth for a while; He would be doing everyone a favor, right?

“Hey,” He got lost in his thoughts again. The last thing he needed was a worried Wilbur all over him; he didn't deserve it. “I'll close, okay?”

“N-no!” It was such a sudden response that even he was taken aback. “I'll do it, don't worry”

Wilbur didn't reply. He just looked at him attentively, even after standing up and approaching the doors of the airport.

Since there were so few residents (and the island didn't need a conventionally working airport apparently), they rarely stayed open all night– still, there were times when a certain someone would walk up the door right before they closed just to beg Wilbur to take them to a so-called “tarantula island”. Of course, all of these exchanges ended with Wilbur denying the existence of such a place, mostly because he wouldn't be able to bear seeing the kid getting hurt, but that last part he didn't say out loud.

Before flipping the sign to “closed”, Orville saw his reflection on the glass doors. Ah…what a mess, he really believed that, after finishing his shift, he would have thought of something to say to Raymond the next time he saw him, but nothing came to mind. Or rather, nothing seemed enough.

It was just so weird; The image of his usually deadpan-faced Ray, breathing heavily while trying to cover his eyes– wait. 

Have they always been that shiny?

Maybe it was his memory playing tricks on him, but then– that smiled, the way his canines seemed to have… grown bigger?

No. That wasn't right. That wasn't his Raymond.

Even his words; Raymond would never talk to him like that…although he wis–

That wasn't the point! Raymond wasn’t acting normal!

“You're…unusually quiet today” He looked over his shoulder, shot! He forgot about Wilbur. Again. “It's…weird, heh.”

The shyness in his brother's tone softened his gaze. “Sorry, just… I’ve a lot on my mind”

“Ah, is okay…”

Silence. The kind that is uncomfortable for both of them; Orville wasn’t sure what to say, and Wilbur didn't like talking much.

But this one time, he tried.

“If…if you need to talk, I'll listen”

“Ah?”

“You know, you can–uh, tell me anything”

Orville blinked, before a big smile spread on his face. He was lucky to have someone so kind as his brother.

Leaving the sign on “open”, he walked to the nearest terminal chair and sat down, sighing. “I messed up, that's all” Wilbur immediately walked up to him, but didn't sit, preferring to listen while standing. “I said very dumb things…but something isn't right– like, there's something deeper, you know? Something he didn't say”

Wilbur limited himself to nodding, and Orville continued. “I don't wanna be pushy, but he also looked so upset…ugh! Why am I so dumb?! Gosh–!” Frustration led him to hide his face in his hands, a little overwhelmed. Was that how Raymond was feeling back then?

“You're not.”

“Wha…?”

“You're not dumb.”

“Ah. Wil…”

“If you, uh, well, if you want my opinion,” Wilbur began to scratch his beard, and looked away from Orville. He always does that when nervous, heh. “You should just…talk it out, ya’ know? Makes things easier”

Orville almost began laughing. Right, communication is key. But even he had trouble finding the right words at times!. “Yeah, right, I know. But…”

“But?”

“I dunno man. What if I messed it up even more?”

“You'll be fine, trust,” Wilbur said. “You’re a good man. ‘Doubt you’ll “messed it up” badly”

It was a simple answer, but, deep down, it was all he needed to hear. Sometimes it surprised him how much good Wilbur was able to see in him. If only he could see the same in himself…

But, he had enough of dwelling on what ifs and guilt, what he had to do was more than clear now!

“Actually, I have something to do!” With renowned energies, Orville made his way to his desk. He had taken Raymond's lunchbox with him (And cleaned it, because he is a good friend. and put it in the important-stuff-drawer, just because), so giving it back was the perfect excuse to talk about what happened and check on his friend.
