Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase are both Bisexual

Leo is Asexual and Pan

Jason is Gay and Demisexual/Romantic

Piper is a Lesbian (I just see it fitting her..)

Hazel is Asexual & Straight

Frank is Unlabeled

Reyna, Thalia Rachel and Calypso are all Aroace

Magnus is Pan and Trans Masc

Alex is canon Genderfluid and I hc her/him as bi too

Obviously Nico is canonically gay but I also see him as aspec

Will is canon Bi but I see him as a demiboy too

Kayla is a Lesbian and Austin is Aroace

Grover is also Unlabeled and Juniper is an Ally

Clariesse and Selina are both Sapphic and had smth going on

Shel (Piper's gf) is also a Lesbian

Can we talk about how amazing Uncle Rick is for a second? The diversity in his books is amazing, especially considering that many of his books were published before there was representation of anything like what he's done in middle-grade and YA novels.

The Lighting Thief (2005)- A book with neurodivergent main characters, and not only do they have ADHD and dyslexia, but it's a superpower. The smartest character in the book is also a girl.

Lost Hero (2010) & Son of Neptune (2011)- Features Latino, Chinese-Canadian, Black, and Native American main characters whose stories incorporate their ethnicities-races (and the prejudice they face) without becoming their only character trait.

House of Hades (2013)- Features a gay main character (this is before gay marriage was even legal in the US) who is also an Italian immigrant

Blood of Olympus (2014)- A female Puerto Rican immigrant main character who is also a leader

Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer (2015)- Features a Muslum main character in a healthy arranged marriage. Also, a deaf main character.

The Hammer of Thor (2016)- A genderfluid Mexican main character who is also the love interest. This is the same year the word genderfluid is added to the dictionary.

Hidden Oracle (2016)- Features a Bisexual main character plus many of the previously mentioned main characters as secondary main characters. Also, a gay relationship.

And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

dear percy jackson fandom,

please stop misrepresenting adhd and adhd medication in fics and other spaces.

I am unsure whether rick said anything about this in the books (not that I remember) but I see a lot of fics with demigods saying things like “i cant take medication because that makes my brain cloudy and therefore no battle insticts” or “it makes you sluggish”

That is not what adhd medication does. It’s doesn’t slow you down so much as it organises your brain and lets you think. PLEASE STOP SAYING THAT IT SLOWS DEMIGODS DOWN PLEASE.

Some suggestions for when you’re trying to say why demigods don’t take adhd medication, some options are:

A. Do some research, find a real side effect and try and represent it properly

B. Make something up like “the adhd is essentially from the godly side and cannot be aided with medication because it’s mortal ”

C. If you don’t understand the topic maybe just stay away or do some research. If you want this to be a plot point in your fic, please put in the effort, if it doesn’t mean that much to you, just remove it.

There are so many ways to do it, please stop saying that medication is bad without using some actual reasoning.

Remember that adhd is a real issue for some people that they have to deal with and not just a fun little quirk that demigods get in pjo that makes them good at fighting.

This is no hate to anyone. This is just my opinion. People can do whatever they want, these are just some suggestions.
