Revisiting 8x11 “You Made A Choice to Be Good”
As you may know from my last post, I am almost done with re-watching all of The Vampire Diaries (and after that, I have season 4 and 5 of The Originals to go through).
Anyways, in case the name and number of the episode doesn’t clue you in on what happens during that episode, that’s okay because I’m here to remind you. It’s the episode where the writers decided to kill off Lorenzo St. John. They decided for no reason to kill of such a good character, a good man, and the love of Bonnie Sheila Bennett’s life. And it never gets easier no matter how many times I watch. Seeing him have his heart ripped out mixed with Bonnie’s cries of sadness and anguish just absolutely hurts my heart. It really does. She’s always the one who gets hurt the most and she does the most for others. I said what I said. Yes, all the characters have lost things and made sacrifices, but no one has done it the same way that Bonnie has.
It’s honestly kind of fucked up that they did that. It wouldn’t have been that bad if they would’ve just brought him back. That’s all they had to do and I would’ve slightly forgiven them. Bring him back for real, not just as someone watching over Bonnie. It’s just frustrating that after everything, they chose to do this to her.
And honestly (pt.2), Kat Graham deserved an award for her performance there. Not just a Teen Choice award from that year (even though she did in fact earn it), but something bigger and better. Because I felt her pain. It traveled through the screen and it was so powerful. One of her most powerful moments besides that Bennett Witch scene in 8x16 in my opinion.
I just want justice and happiness for Bonenzo. And it sucks that I’ll never get it.
