i cba to post full in depth thought of any knives out film rn because it’s 2:36am and my brains off but i’m watching the first one and something that always stood out to me from the very first watch is that benoit blanc treats nana thrombey like a real person.
he speaks to her calmly, politely, he offers her condolences for her loss. he’s kind. he doesn’t pressure her to speak, or to do anything at all. he just lays out his thoughts, at a reasonable pace and at a reasonable volume, in full sentences with suitable language. and he sits with her.
no one else does. the thrombeys ignore her. they yell in her ear and use little words in little sentences. they talk around her and about her when she’s right there the whole time.
something about that just stood out to me really clearly.
