Some groups are famous for having a concept that is regularly seen in most of their songs, while others may get some attention for always trying something new. One way or the other, what truly matters is their ability to comfortably perform what is given to them. Nothing is funnier than watching an idol who can’t handle acting cute doing their worst on variety shows, but to perform on stage is something different.

For the month of February, male trainees are told to prepare a song originally performed by a female, while female trainees are told to prepare a song originally performed by a male. While doing drag and completely recreating the original performance is acceptable, it is also perfectly okay to transform the song into a different style. Trainees will be evaluated on either their comfort on trying new concepts or their abilities to modify the song to fit their own style.

At the end of the month, on the 28th of February, trainees will have to perform what they practiced in front of their coaches. A maximum of two songs will be allowed one being a solo and the other a group performance. Ballads will not be accepted and it will be required to showcase their singing and/or rapping abilities as well as their dancing. Trainees are free to group up with people from different companies.

In order to collect +2 DEBUT POINTS and +2 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, write a four-post thread or a 250+ words solo about your muse preparing themselves for the evaluation. For +2 DEBUT POINTS, +3 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH and +1WK RELEVANT ACHIEVEMENT, write a 300+ words solo about at least one of your muse’s performances at the end of the month. Please tag all your posts as #rkfeb18eval and have them up by midnight EST at the end of February 28th. Threads may be continued after the deadline, but points can only be collected if the requirements are met before it.

⭐️NOVA ENTERTAINMENT EVALUATION performing red light by f(x) february 2018 

he was dressed in black from head to toe, thought nothing extravagant that would look out of place in this setting. he chose not to go down the crossdressing route, because it simply wasn't his thing. he didn't want to be the female group, but to make the song his own, share his version to the world. he didn't modify much, because it was already to his liking at its current state but he simply changed it so it would suit his voice range more. he could reach higher notes, but felt more comfortable in deeper tones due to his lack of extensive vocal training. he has a lot of singing experience, but doesn't consider himself a proper singer yet.

jinyoung greets the staff, quickly introduces the song and stands in place to begin. he feels a lot more stressed than during his audition. the burden was not as big back then, because he wasn't even sure if he truly wanted this. if nova rejected him, he simply would've thought it wasn't meant to be and continued with what he was already doing. but now he was here and he would hate for the ceo to think that he did not take his training seriously. just because he said he aimed to be an actor didn't mean he was not hardworking.

the coaches were right. his acting background helped in so many ways, especially when it came to performing. it was easier for him to get into character, render the lyrics with emotions that are sometimes hard to channel if you haven't experienced them before. he'd been trained his whole teenage and young adult life to do just that, so with red light he became a soldier, gaze piercing when he shot his head up to look at the panel.

FEBRUARY EVALUATION      ROYAL JDJ ( @jaehyunrk @rkleedongminie @rkhoon )            PERFORMING TWINKLE – CHI CHI NBS SNSD TTS                 PART NARA TAEYEON 

he was as nervous for this as he was excited about this performance. like his favorite cuddle hyung dongmin is a big fan of girl groups. he has never been a good dancer, but he has always enjoyed learning the dances to girl group songs.  any catchy  or popular girl group song would end up on his list that he needs to practice so he could break out into dance when ever needed. which was a big reason he was excited about this evaluation. 

not only would he get to practice a girl group song but he would be doing it with the newly formed maknae group. royal jdj, as they have dubbed themselves. the royal maknes pulling together to make a cover group of exo cbx songs. they were working on the one to eventually perform together, though he isn’t too sure who or where. this eval worked great though because they could ban together again as a trio and find a girl group of three. it’s not the ‘debut’ he was hoping for with royal jdj, but it would be fun nevertheless. 

they had chosen a chi chi subunit, nbs and their song twinkle. dongmin isn’t the biggest chi chi fan, he knows a good handful of their songs but they aren’t top of his list if he is being honest. meaning he doesn’t know the nbs unit songs as well. but practice really does make perfect. 

he was taking nara’s part. and to say he was nervous about it would be and understatement. he was worried about taking on such an iconic vocalist. trying to take these high notes and not mess it up. despite both his hyungs saying he would be great, the teen was still concerned and had spent so much extra time in practice to get the notes down. 

they were wearing suits for this performance, he felt rather snazzy now that he was getting us to practicing in it. the dance wasn’t too overly difficult, but it was fun and he found himself enjoying every practice with jaehyun and jihoon. his nerves for this song and taking on nara’s part melted away when he was with his hyungs. he wanted to show how good royal jdj is,and how well they work together.

the dance was way easier than he would have liked. that was his first performance as a trainee and yet he couldn’t exactly showcase the skills he had. in fact, a lot of the skills required to complete that stage were exactly the ones he didn’t have. still, maybe it was his own fault. the idea had sounded marvelous on the spot, and only after he went over the details did jihoon notice maybe he wasn’t anywhere close to chi chi’s level of performance. being an idol wasn’t all about dancing and ‘twinkle’ was a great example of it.

the three girls got to showcase their amazing vocal power and still keep it classy with their outfits and simple choreography. the boys already had the outfits planned out, and jihoon could easily take care of the dance. “it’s mostly just twisting your wrist, really.” he said while copying the chorus point dance. dongmin was no weak dancer, so he was sure they wouldn’t have problems in that area. “it would have been nice if they changed the dance every chorus. the sudden final change looked very nice.”

royal evaluation, february 2k18;

he’s not quite sure how all the other trainees think about this whole thing, whether they like it or extremely dislike it ( because with the guys it often seems to be embarrassing to cover girl group songs, to do their choreographies that are often so awesome but also so incredibly underrated ) -- but in baekhyun’s opinion, this is probably the best evaluation he’s ever had;

and during his slowly nearing two years as a trainee he’s had some pretty neat stages, great performances with close friends but also with people he hardly knew.

( although, his one big regret is never doing one with yixing during all this time. now, they can’t anymore, trainee evaluations and separate convex evaluations between them. and, maybe, some other things too; baekhyun isn’t sure about it anymore. ) he’s learned a lot, did a lot of different things. he attempted things he never thought he would, he fought against this terrible anxiety and a sense of stage fright he’s never experienced before signing into royal almost every single time. but this is still the best task they could’ve given him;

actually, baekhyun’s been waiting for this ever since he started his training, he hoped for it so much.

he likes how royal constantly gives him chances to improve, to step out of his comfort zone and how they want him to grow into something better ( even if all his whining in the past didn’t make him seem like he enjoyed most of it at all ) but having to do girl group songs this month is right up his alley and he’s happy about doing something he completely enjoys for once, something just for the fun of it and not because of the growth and experience he gains through it. this absolutely his thing and everyone who knows him in, at least, some way, should be aware of that -- he’s byun baekhyun, the world’s biggest girl group lover after all. and if not,the delighted smile he’s been wearing all this time during practice lately probably spoke for itself.

it’s just that he hasn’t felt this energetic in a long while, hasn’t felt that enthusiastic about something for so long and he missed it. he missed having fun in what he does and feeling confident, he missed his cute and bubbly and happy self.

he missed standing on a stage and feeling excited for the performance even if it’s only in front of a couple of coaches instead of somehow trying to not break out in cold sweats and panic attacks.

and there’s a huge smile on his face as he waits for the music to start, a familiar beat of one of his favorite girl group songs playing ( he has too many favorite girl group songs, actually, but ). his eyes are twinkling, fingers, feet, everything itching to dance to a choreography he enjoys and knows by heart -- every step, every beat, every line is pretty much engraved into his memory. he can’t wait for it to start and it’s the best feeling ever; baekhyun wants to always feel like this.

February Evaluation:

Jongsuks thing is girl groups. he lives and breathes girl groups. thats something that no one can take from him. that’s his thing. hes the girl group master. that was how he got youtube famous.

so he had this eval performance in the bag.

hell, he was going all out for this. he had heels and a bandage style jacket. he could totally pull it off and no one would tell him otherwise. he wasn’t even nervous. he wasn’t even scared. ge knew the song, he knew the dance, he knew that his rappimg skills were stromg enough to make this a performance no one would ever forget.

Jongsuk was not scared at all. when his name was called, he slipped on white heels and easily took the stage. the jacket hung on his shoulders and it was obvious that it was his stage. his chance to shine. if he had been an actual idol, he would have been trending everywhere and he knew that.

the music started, jongsuk began dancing with ease. a hand flick there, a touch there. he was sexy and he knew it. it was easy to be sexy with tjis song. he knew hos moves and he knew how to wow people and work his body.

he began singing around this time as well, his voice soft and seductive. that’s how he was going to make this evaluation his bitch. he worked hard and he knew how to seduce an audience. that was how he had gotten famous on the internet. that was why people watched him. he was simultaneously cute and sexy and somehow that was attractive. 

He sang and danced his heart out while at the same time trying to portray the sexy feel of the song. he may have looked a  bit desperate but it was totally okay. he was totally fine with that. as long as he had given them a show. that was the goal that he aimed for. if he achieved that much, he was glad,

February Evaluation:

From the very beginning, Kris was pushed into traditional roles that he had to do. He was always pushed towards being a perfect chaebol. When he started acting and modelling, however, he was faced with a completely different world. He was faced with various variations on roles. He was surprised, but he embraced aspects of femininity for himself. 

This evaluation, however, was something that Kris was very hesitant on. He was scared of the songs that they had to do. The rapper didn’t listen to girl groups. He was more of the hip hop and american pop music. He had no idea what song that he would do. Luckily, he teamed up with fellow trainees Aron, Jinwoo and Johnny. He liked the guys and it was fun working with them. It was the first time that he worked with Aron since the time that he’s been here, so it was incredibly fun for him. 

Jinwoo and Johnny were the new kids, but Kris wanted them to feel welcome even more. So of course, on the first day of their first practice together, he brought ice cream for everyone. That was when the lines were decided and Kris felt happy that he got the rapping parts along with Jinwoo. He offered a comforting smile to the other. He spent a while practicing with the guys and by himself as well. 

When the day for the performances, he a bite nervous but he was eager to see where they would go with this performance. When it came their turn, he was pretty happy to perform with his friends. He opened the song with narration and then Aron and Johnny skillfully took it away. 

He could sense the hesitation in Johnny’s voice and Jinwoo’s voices as well. He hoped that him and Aron could push the two of them to be the best that they could be. He was so into his thoughts, that he almost missed his part but he didn't.

He rapped in that deep voice with that charisma that he always had. He had another part after Jinwoo’s as well, and he did that part well as well. He wasn’t nervous and he hoped that his confidence projected a lot. He finished off the song after Jinwoo with a casual pose and he grinned. “Good job guys. We did great!” he exclaimed. “Now, who’s up for bbq? My treat!” he exclaimed .

The paper was marked up with lead pencil, numbers noted in the corner, and crosses marking each of the members: Jongdae, Chanyeol, Jaebum, Hyungwon and Yuta. Deciding choreography was much harder when more people were added into the mix, making sure they would be able to meet the level needed to be able to confidently reproduce what Yuta and Jaebum made up. Yuta’s eyes darting from the sheet in his hand, over the flooring marked with the masking tape versions of and then over at Jaebum. “I think this would be good set up to begin that section, it’ll make it easier for the transition in the next one,” he offers in explanation, turning to close the space between them. 

He tilts his head as he comes up beside Jaebum, showing him the page with a mixture of both their hand writing and various erased lines from where they had edited it. “Want to do a quick run through?” Yuta suggests, thinking it was best. “Who do you wanna be first? Master vocalist Jongdae, or two left feet Chanyeol? Or Hyungwon?” He suggests playfully, rocking on his feet. There was a tinge of pride and happiness in the Japanese male’s heart, he thought they were doing well so far with everything. Once they got the choreography down, they could share it with the others and teach them until they got it down. “We should record it too, use it for reference with the others.”
