A Mini Style Guide: Portrait Edition 👠👞 Part 3 ✨1. Wear the right undergarments. Okay, I know this conversation can be awkward, but let’s chat about underwear. Whether you’re wearing a casual or dressy outfit, make sure you have the right undergarments to go with your clothing. For example, if you know your pants will fit tightly against your body and you feel uncomfortable with panty lines, find a no-show option. If your dress or top might show bra straps, find an alternative like a strapless bra. Tighter dress? Consider shapewear if it helps you feel more confident. ✨2. Stick to your style. While it may be fun to get experimental with your clothes for a creative photoshoot, I recommend either staying true to your unique style, or bringing an option that’s unique to you and one that’s new to you. You’ll want to feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing, so wear what feels good to you and stick with it! ✨3. Put the electronics away. That applewatch that’s become a part of your body? Leave it at home or in the car. Opt for a standard classy watch. Cell phones? Leave them in your car. The last thing you want in your photos is a cell phone shaped bulge in your pants pocket or a cell phone sticking out of your back pocket. Guys, leave the wallets in the car as well. Again, the wallet shaped bulge will be noticeable. Sunglasses should also be left in the car. Don’t hook them over your shirt, put them in your pocket or wear them atop your head. ✨4. Accessorize. Hats. Scarfs. Belts. Bandanas. Flower crowns. You name it, I love it. Anything to give us something more. Dainty necklaces and bracelets? Wear them! ✨5. 👠 Ladies this is mostly for you. While I love me some good high heels, keep in mind that a lot of walking, and sometimes hiking, happens in sessions. If you plan to wear heels for your photos that’s perfectly fine, but bring a side pair of walking or hiking shoes for between shots.
