Lydia’s Lechon Serves New Christmas Menu

The lechon has always been a festive Filipino family tradition whenever the Christmas season comes along. Lydia’s Lechon, one of the country’s most well-loved lechon restaurants, is launching several new lechon dishes to make the Yuletide months even more special. Whether you are entertaining balikbayan guests, celebrating office parties, or just spending time with the family, these new exciting dishes will let diners enjoy lechon daily in different ways.

Lydia’s Lechon has been serving its customers for more than 50 years since 1965 and is known as the home of the Philippines’ best tasting original boneless lechon. It’s newest brand campaign is called “Everyday Lechon Happiness” as Lydia’s Lechon aims to be part of every Filipino’s lives – touching across all generations, making it a way of life as they envision to bring everyday happiness. The holiday season in the Philippines usually starts as early as September, so Lydia’s Lechon is rolling out several new items so we can all celebrate Christmas every day.

What started as a humble stall in Baclaran, Lydia’s Lechon has now become one of the country’s biggest lechon restaurants with over 25 mall-based foodcourt stalls and casual dining restaurant outlets in Metro Manila. The company owes its success to its founders, Ms. Lydia and Benigno de Roca whose hard work and dedication created the lechon brand that Filipinos know and love.

The centerpiece of any celebration is always the lechon and Lydia’s makes it so easy to order this crispy roasted pig. You can order this by the kilo (P900 per kilo) at any of their outlets to enjoy or to bring home to the family. The tender and succulent meat goes so well with the special liver sauce and I really still like my lechon served this way.

For bigger groups and parties, you can order a whole lechon for delivery using their delivery hotline [phone] or even online through www.lydias-lechon.com. Aside from these, Lydia’s Lechon is also now available on Food Panda, Honestbee, and Grab Food so you can have your favorite dishes delivered just by using these apps on your phone.

Lydia’s Lechon is offering some new items on their menu starting this month. For those hosting smaller parties, you can get their signature Lechon Belly (P3,900) which is a more compact version of the lechon. 

This is a charcoal-roast prime cut of pork with extra crispy skin and perfectly seasoned fork-tender meat. It can serve up to 12 persons and can also be ordered online through their website.

Diners at their restaurants and food court outlets will also enjoy these new dishes like the Sizzling Tofu (P175) served on a hot sizzling plate. These silky smooth tofu cubes are great appetizers and will fire off your palates before the heavier lechon feast.

The Pritchon Wraps (P350) are a new modern creation that lets diners enjoy lechon in a different way. The fried lechon is placed with vegetables and wrapped inside a pita bread with three special sauces. It’s a healthier way of eating a lechon but is just as tasty.

Another item to try is the Minced Lettuce Wraps (P320) which is similar to the Pritson Wraps but uses minced lechon and lettuce instead of the pita bread. Lydia’s Lechon is combining traditional Filipino favorites with modern recipes and techniques to give us a more elevated dining experience. Both servings are good for 3-4 persons.

The Laing con Lechon (P195) is their own meatier version of the classic laing. These dried taro leaves come with roast pork and then cooked in coconut milk. I definitely like this version more. 

Lydia’s Lechon is also introducing a new regional soup dish called the Kansing Baka (P450) with generous amounts of beef shank cooked in a hot broth made with tamarind, lemongrass and annatto. Kansi is a popular Illongo dish that I first got to try in Bacolod so it is great that Lydia’s is offering this in Metro Manila.

Another new item is the Bangus ala Pobre (P345). This deep-fried milkfish is topped with loads of fried garlic and chili for an explosive flavor combination.

They also have their signature Kare-Kare con Lechon (P360), another upgraded Filipino classic with roast pork and vegetables simmered in a thick peanut sauce. Kare-Kare has never been as meaty and delicious as this.

The most surprising and highly recommended new dish is actually the Cheesy Beef Caldereta (P385). This is a classic Filipino beef stew loaded with melted cheese on top. This one is quite spicy and will be a big hit for spicy food lovers, especially with its tender beef andcreamy sauce.

Speaking of sauces, Lydia’s Lechon actually offers its own line of condiments and sauces starting in 2014. These are best paired with the new holiday dishes which will be available at all Lydia’s Lechon stores starting September 28, 2018. Watch out for more surprises from Lydia’s Lechon as they gear up for their 53rd anniversary celebration in November. Happy eating!
