You know what I just realised as well so both damian and respawn are repeatedly said to look identical but damian is made to look more like Bruce then Talia in the comics but respawn doesn't have any of Batman's dna bc he's a clone of talia and slade so unless both respawn and Damian took most of their features from talia I don't see how the two could be identical to each other

Are they seriously that scrapped for ideas that they have to continually add in family members? I mean, Damian's situation at least makes a little sense because we know his DNA has been used for Heretic and whatnot, so it's not a surprise that Ra's made another kid but it feels so unnecessary. Not to mention the fact that DC did that stupid, "Is Damian actually Deathstroke's biological son?" thing a few years ago and now they've loosely tied Damian to Slade in a familial sense by having Slade be Respawn's father.

Something about this panel just- 

Okay so this was during Nightwing (2011) #30. Directly after Forever Evil where Lex Luthor killed Dick and then brought him back. Bruce needed Dick to go undercover for Spyral and instead of like talking to him he has them spar. 

So here Bruce had just kicked Dick off the catwalk and onto what I think what Tim’s old Robin suit. It had pants idk 

Just the broken glass, kneeling on the robin cape, the way Bruce is in the shot. A shadow of Batman’s cowl and a reaching hand. Dick being scratched and beaten to hell and in a position that looks like some fucked up prayer towards Bruce as Bruce makes a horrible request of him. 

Let’s throw it back to the Prodigal Arc- 

(Robin vol 2 #13) 

Bruce sure worked out how to ask Dick to die for him, beat the shit out of him first. Everything about Nightwing #30 tore me apart and remembering this issue drove the knife in so hard. 

Bruce use your fucking words and stop hitting your children you asshole. Anyways I’ve spent far too long staring at that picture of Dick on the ground trying to work out why it struck such a cord with me.

Another example of ‘Bruce doesn’t know how to talk to his children’. I still haven’t read Knightfall, but it’s so ridiculous that he left Gotham in the hands of Azrael.

I like the idea of the Respawn thing (we’ll see about the execution) more than the Melinda Zucco thing bc 1) it’s so freaking off the wall weird this is the kind of nuts stuff I want from comics, 2) the Melinda stuff has been boring and shallow, and 3) this affects way more characters which is something I love

I will be honest, I did call it being some kind of clone/brother thing but still

The only thing I’ve liked so far is Bruce’s reaction. He really said: 😲

And slade who was like: “back off that’s my baby” 😠
