Characters We Love: Robin Sparkles (aka Robin Scherbatsky)

Justin Bieber has nothing on her. Carly Rae Jepsen wishes she was her. There is only one Canadian teen pop star that matters, and it isn’t Jessica Glitter, it is Robin Sparkles. Sure on How I Met Your Mother she is Robin Scherbatsky, but in her previous life she was Canada’s teen idol.

So why do we love Robin Sparkles?

1) She Never Forgets The Robot When the 80’s came to Canada in the early 90’s, Robin Sparkles took full advantage of it. We mean all of it. She even employed an 80’s robot that wasn’t only in all of her music videos, but also in her short lived children’s episodic. She clearly believed in helping the little guy (literally). Here is the 80’s robots debut in her smash hit “Let’s Go To The Mall”: 

2) She Has Some Powerful Friends Robin Sparkles may have been young but she had some pretty powerful friends and have dated some pretty powerful musicians. She dated Simon, the singer of The Foreskins, the band that is on the verge of making it big. She was also friends with Allen Thicke, you may know him as Jason Seaver, but you may know him better as the star of Space Teens. Speaking of Space Teens, her co-host on that smash hit was Jessica Glitter. Those two wrote one of the best songs about friendship. That song is “The Beaver Song” and it is listed below
