This Is What Your Lie Cost Us | 1
Steve Harrington x Henderson reader (I know!)

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15
You had no interest in what Steve Harrington did anymore. Being next to him made you feel as uncomfortable as it made you feel sad and you didn’t want to feel sad anymore.
A whole year had gone by since you had last talked to him. You also tried to avoid him completely, but that was just impossible.
The problem was, he was always running around with Dustin, or driving more likely. Stopping in front of your house with that red BMW, which he cared for with all his heart. So it wasn’t really up to you to not see him.
Whatever the reason to their close friendship was, you didn’t know. Not only because you weren’t dating Steve anymore, but more because Steve had never told you. Steve had decided that leaving you waiting for him on date nights, like waiting for him at the cinema or even just stopping your date altogether, was better than spending time with you. He also thought that not telling you the truth on where he was, was a good idea.
At first you understood. He had a job, he had responsibilities and there was no need to spend each and every single day together. You knew, he had somehow ended up protecting your brother and his friends after Will disappeared. Taking them home from school or to the arcade. You liked that about him. You really did. But when you found out that Nancy Wheeler was also spending time with the kids, it was over. Nancy was a nice girl. She even could have been your friend if she hadn’t dated Steve or if he had stopped spending time with them instead of you. But somehow, him not telling you he was spending time with Nancy Wheeler and pretending he just didn’t have time for you, was what hurt you the most.
Steve’s plans always seemed very fake. Sometimes he told you he had an extra shift, other times it was taking the kids to the arcade safely. And since everyone had been alarmed when Will Byers went missing, you couldn’t feel mad about him. It got to the point where you didn’t have a date in four weeks. And you were tired of his lies.
You found out one evening. You went into Dustin’s room to tell him dinner was ready, only to hear him talking to Steve through his walkie talkie. His walkie talkie, at that time, had become his best friend. He always had it with him and he was using it so much, he would ask you to get him spare batteries from the grocery every now and then. Hearing Steve on the other end was also a familiar accurence, but then hearing Nancy Wheeler talk about how she needed more „lights“ was another thing. And that was it for you.
„Shit, shit, shit.“ Your Brother immediately shut down the walkie talkie, stopping their conversation alltogether. He then, stood up from where he was sitting on his bed, Walkie Talkie thrown to the side and walked out of the door.
You just looked at him with a blank stare gesturing to the Walkie Talkie with one hand. „Was that Nancy Wheeler?“ you asked him, voice filled with anger. „Yes?“ he said quietly, smiling as much as he could to cover that he knew. He definitely knew.
The next day, Steve had picked you up for shool. Dustin was in the cars backseat, he looked nervous. He was fumbling with the straps of his backpack, which had suddenly caught all his attention.
„So,“ you said lightly, „Yesterday was dinner with your family!“ You looked at Dustins reaction through the mirror who still seemed to have all his concentration on that backpack.
„Yeah,“ Steve stiffened in his seat.
„Yeah,“ he started again, nervously, „That,“ he paused in between, „It was great!“ He looked at you shortly, giving you a smile that would’ve been convincing if you didn’t know him.
„How was the food?“ you bit through your teeth.
„Great, yeah great!“ he looked at you, eyebrows raised.
„What about Nancy,“ you asked, „did Nancy like dinner as well?“
Steve’s head whipped in your direction, surprise written on his face. And you looked away, starring out of the window for the rest of the drive. You swore you could hear a mumbled „shit“ from Dustin in the backest but you weren’t sure.
When Steve parked the car on the school’s parking lot, Dustin exited the car as soon as possible, backpack not on his shoulders but dragging it behind him. The car door closed shut with a loud thud, leaving you and Steve alone inside the car.
„Bye,“ he shouted over his shoulder hastily, already running towards the school’s entrance. Not looking back, he added: „See you later!“
By the time he was already opening the school’s double doors, you and Steve stepped out of the car as well. Without saying anything, you grabbed your chemistry folder, held it tightly under your arms and started heading to where Dustin vanished seconds prior.
„Whoa, whoa whoa Y/N,“ Steve’s hand grabbed your upper arm, making you halt and turning you towards him.
„Talk to me,“ he added with a quiet voice. But to his surprise, you didn’t. Instead, you stayed quiet, avoiding looking at him and only letting out an annoying huff.
Steve closed his eyes for a millisecond, before taking a deep breath. “Nancy was there yesterday.“ he admitted. When he noticed you didn’t answer, he added „But so was Jonathan, trust me!“ a second later.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to believe him. But the last few weeks had been filled with half-explanations and lies, so you weren’t sure if trusting him was right.
„How can I, when all you do is find excuses?“ You raised a hand and let it fall to your side again. „You don’t trust me!“ you hissed after a pause.
And now he was the one staying quiet, looking at the ground, arms crossed, pressing to his chest.
„If you cannot tell me the truth…“ you stated, tears filling your eyes. „Maybe we should break up then,“ you cried out. The folder in your hands suddenly felt way to heavy, just like your heart.
And so you did the only thing which seemed right that moment. You turned around and went into the schools building. Steve didn’t stop you. Instead, he stood at the head of his car for way too long, wishing he could have told your the truth. What was really going on.
This was how you and steve broke up. Quiet, lonely, on a random schools day and the reason, why you didn’t want to spend time with Steve, ever again.

Should I do a taglist?
Have I mentioned that I love that Will called Steve, Robin's Steve ? Because I love it a lot ! Yes that's right! He's her Steve, I'd even dare say he's her soulmate but platonic with a capital P.
Stranger Things has a legit history with Straight-Baiting. When Maya Hawke was cast everyone thought she was gonna get with Steve. And the way they built their characters up in season 3 made it seem like they were gonna get together. Robin was gonna be the weird girl who was actually perfect for the popular jock like Steve. It was a classic trope! They had their banter and when a scary situation happened they held hands in fear. Even Dustin was trying to get them together. Stranger Things literally built their characters up like they were gonna be together and it all came crashing down when she came out to him. It’s not completely out of the ballpark that they will do this with Mileven. The entire show has “seemed” like it’s been building up them being either others one true love. But really it’s been building up towards Byler.
I NEED ROBIN AND STEVE TO BE OK, cause I need them to live out my Joey and Chandler fantasy
X
THE POTENTIAL of 90s spin off sigh...I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH <3 anyways LET STEVE AND ROBIN BE OK!!
STRANGER THINGS (2016—) S03E08 | "The Battle of Starcourt"
Do I ship romantic stobin? Yes
Do I think Robin is bi? Not really (I don't think it ever been said clearly that she is a lesbian not bi but I can be wrong)
My friends are lesbian and I know that some of them had a guy crush at some point or says that their crush could be their exception. (I'm not saying all lesbians do ofc)
Some people need to understand that shipping and writing fanfics about stobin is not bad (unless you are being clearly homophobic and saying that Robin's character is straight, then this is not okay.) It's a fanFICTION it's an AU (alternative universe) that it's a what if..? story. People make headcanons and Aus all the time about their fandom because it's not real.
Romantic stobin is in my opinion really cute concept. Steve being her exception and the besties vibes stay the same but some kisses and more I love yous and cuddles are added to their already close relationship. It's just an au for me and I love it.
You don't have to like my view or even tolerate it or respect my point but you have to respect me and that I can have my opinions and ship what I want. Some people even get deah threats for shipping it which is just crazy and sick.
What could've been - Stobin Story
Sooo... I've finished re-watching the whole of Stranger Things after the finale broke me, and we can all agree on what a fantastic friendship Steve and Robin have. Yet I found myself wondering what could've been if Robin weren't a lesbian, so hope you enjoy this completely made-up 'what if?' story.
