Robin: There were like signals...
Yeah, you know, like a brush of the knee, a bump of the elbow
A shared look...
It all just accrued like a snowball rolling down a hill until it was obvious...

Brb guys crying over the flashback montage again
"Robin's speech was about will finding the power, love and validation within himself" exactly? That doesn't mean he cannot date the person he's in love with? People can love themselves and another person at the same time.
There is nothing more disappointing than seeing queer people misunderstand Robin's speech and denied the impact Byler would have
i've seen so many posts since i got on stranger things tumblr about how robin isn't a reliable source for byler and mike isn't tammy thompson and how robin shouldn't have compared their situations and all that
but guys. thats not the point. will accepting himself through that conversation was the point. robin's voice was literally playing in the background as he vecna-ed those demogorgons. she's telling him to accept himself. this isn't about byler, its about will. it's about getting rid of internalized homophobia and loving yourself and its about both will and robin finding someone like them in a place where it's very rare
appreciate the gods damned gay-lesbian solidarity
Uhm, hey guys. So I was just scrolling through here & it just hit me like a ton of bricks that.. I have no one irl to talk about this ship with.
Basically, I'm still halfway in the closet, surrounded by straight people irl who, regardless of their support, still spew microaggressions without thinking twice & also don't even know what a fanfic is.. lol.
I just wish one or more of you could teleport to me so I could shake you by the shoulders & yell "DID YOU SEE THE LOOK ON HIS FACE?! THEY'RE SO GAY-" Lmao, I'm legit gonna go back to college or find a youth group. Anything JUST to talk to another nerdy queer person irl. I saw Will & Robin talking and being an iconic duo & I remembered that I need to have that too y'know..?
Just look at them.. like..
Okay wait-
Robin's Speech JUST sunk in as I'm writing this & thinking about it & I need to leave it here: Guys, I can continue to come out however I want. DUH?! I definitely don't need anyone telling me how, especially if they don't get it..
"I was looking for the answers in somebody else but I had all the answers.." Uhm holy shit, I was having an unscheduled epiphany in real time, please bear with me if you made it this far-
Anyway, this fandom means a lot to me & especially this ship & the characters themselves. I'm just clinging to all of it right now like I need it to breathe or something. So to all the fans, fanfic writers, artists, theorists & just the people who post about two gay boys in the 80's in all caps & keyboard smashes, thank you.
i think it's so reasonable to assume that from robin's POV she suspects will could potentially be gay during the snowball->avalanche speech, but she doesn't clock it. because really all that gets revealed is that will saw them kissing, is positive towards having seen two girls kiss (why dont you just kiss her again), and asks how to spot signs that someone wants to date you. this is very much giving gay vibes, especially for us the audience, but idk if robin is going around assuming people are gay without clear evidence.
robin could just as easily assume that here is a young guy asking her for romantic advice. because from a guy's perspective, lesbians:
understand women (they are women + attracted to women)
won't assume that you're flirting with them by asking about romantic advice (as straight women might)
are less likely to make fun of the guy for wanting romantic advice (as straight men might)
robin only clocks that will is in fact gay after watching him and mike together. robin doesn't know mike and will's relationship well enough to make a judgement that mike doesn't like will back, so it's silly to assume that is the intent of her speech about tammy.
that's not her "oh this poor baby gay is hopeless about about to get his heart broken by unrequited love that he's too foolish to recognise" speech, that's her "oh this poor baby gay needs the 'being gay is okay' speech" speech. the "i can't have his self worth be at risk if this thing doesn't work out" moment. it's not a "love yourself because he wont :((" it's "love yourself, whether or not he does too <3". which is such an important distinction
