But I'm a marvel girl, not DC. I have ZERO knowledge apart from the justice league (and that's only the names), this isn't usually a trouble but something tells me I need know somethings before reading fanfics. Is anyone willing to infodump about them?

Ok so there's a lot to cover, but I mostly know about the Robins so I will briefly explain the Robins. This is a general run-down and there is a lotttt more to their stories but reading this you can probably understand what's going on in fanfics with them in it. (Was originally gonna write this in a comment but I had too much to write so moved it to a reblog)

Dick Grayson- him and his parents were the Flying Grayson's in a circus (trapeze acrobats) until one day when their circus was in Gotham City and someone had cut their lines resulting in Dick's parents falling to their deaths. Bruce Wayne was in the audience and seeing a boy witnessing the death of his parents reminded him of when he was orphaned at a young age. Bruce took Dick in and trained him and he became the first Robin, partner to Batman. He was Robin for a long time, he joined a team called the Teen Titans when he was a teenager and when he got older eventually he changed his hero name to Nightwing.

Jason Todd- At this point when Jason comes into the picture Dick Grayson had just recently became Nightwing. Batman had left the batmobile near crime alley (the place where his parents were killed) and when he came back he found a little boy stealing the tires off it. Jason lived on the streets and Batman took him in, adopted him, and he became the second Robin. A few years later Jason is killed by the Joker and Batman is left devastated. Wayyyyy later in the comics (about halfway through the third Robin's run (which I'm about to get to) he gets resurrected and takes the name Redhood who is an anti-hero who is not afraid to kill villains unlike Batman) it's kinda hard to explain but basically one of Batman's villains named Ra's al Ghul resurrected him in something called a Lazarus Pit. When he came back he was really furious that Batman did not kill the Joker to avenge him but also not just for him but to get that monster off the streets as he has killed the most people out of Batman's villains. At some point after his return he does attack the third Robin (Tim Drake) cause he feels as though he replaced him. Tim recovers not too soon after, and later in the comics they are on good terms. Disclaimer: I am not that educated on Jason Todd as a character so forgive me if this info isn't perfect.

Tim Drake (my fav :3)- After Jason Todd's death Tim notices Batman has become increasingly more violent when fighting crime and significantly more reckless to his own health as well. Tim had figured out Batman and Robin's identities a few years ago (he attended the Flying Grayson's show when it was in Gotham that fateful night when he was just a little kid, and there is a special trick called the Quadruple Summersault that only the Flying Grayson's are able to do- and Tim a few years ago saw Robin do that trick, so he figured out Robin was Rick Grayson and put together that Bruce Wayne was Batman cause that's who took Dick in). Seeing Batman being way too reckless he knows that Batman needs a Robin to keep him balanced and from going over the edge, so he seeks out Dick Grayson to ask him to be Robin again. Dick refuses because he has grown into his own hero and doesn't work well with Batman as a sidekick anymore. So Tim decides that he has to fill the role so Batman doesn't push himself towards destruction. (Again there's a lot more finer details to how this came to be but for the sake of brevity I'm simplifying it). Bruce gives in after some convincing and Tim trains to become Robin, getting trained for a bit solely inside the Batcave before patrolling. During this time Tim's parents (when on vacation) get captured by a villain. Batman tries his best to save them but long story short they both got poisoned; killing Tim's mom and paralyzing his dad who is now in a coma. Tim grieves, but continues his training, even going overseas by himself for a bit to get trained in physical combat. He comes back and is now officially Robin and fights by Batman's side. Nightwing and him also team up quite a bit and are like brothers to each other, sometimes they'll just hangout and sometimes Dick trains him- they are really close in the comics. Batman takes care of him while Tim's dad recovers (which he does recover eventually after about a few months?) He later is a part of a team called Young Justice (not the animated show one, the comics are from 1998) and wayyyyy later on when he is 17 his dad is killed by a villain and he is officially adopted by Bruce (but honestly even before that Bruce was kinda a father figure in his life anyway). A bit after this, it's a long story, but Bruce "dies" and Tim is the only one who doesn't believe that, and he takes up the mantle/hero name of Red Robin and goes on a mission to find Bruce (at this time the fourth Robin came into the picture so that's why he changed his name, but I'll explain in the next one).

Damian Wayne- He is the biological son of Bruce Wayne, his mother is Talia al Ghul (daughter of Ra's al Ghul). Ra's al Ghul is the leader of what is called the League of Assassins, and Damian for most of his life was raised as one. Right around when Bruce "dies" he is brought to Gotham by his mom. But since Bruce is gone Dick had to temporarily take up the mantle of Batman (even though he didn't want to), and since Damian was raised as an assassin he is violent at this point so Dick decides to give the Robin mantle to him as to try and teach him their ways. Tim is upset over this as he wasn't consulted and goes by the name Red Robin and leaves Gotham to find Bruce. Dick doesn't believe him that Bruce is alive so he goes by himself on the mission. Damian eventually becomes less violent and unlearns what he was taught to become an assassin and him and Dick become really close (kinda a brother/mentor/almost fatherly relationship forms between them). He has a comic run with Superboy (Superman's son) called Supersons and they become great friends. Even though when he first met Tim he tried to kill him (believing he had to in order to prove his worth to be able to get the Robin mantle) they too eventually get on good terms and have some brotherly interactions later in the comics.

I've seen a lot of people discussing the poison scene from the Shadow and Bone series, discussing why some of the characters got good dreams, and the others had horrors.

Honestly, I think they're all horrible dreams, their worst nightmares come true.

Kaz fears his brother's fury, and truly believes he hasn't forgiven him from the beyond, and won't, until he deals with Rollins.

Inej's is being trapped. As much as she had affection for Kaz, and night even play with the idea of living her life with him, her heart is an arrow, and it's truth is propose. She doesn't truly want his love, because it might be just enough to deter her from her goals. His returned love is a tether, whether she likes it or not.

Jesper's is his mother's disappointment. He gave up on making his father proud a long time ago, but his mom? His mother's gentle affections and lessons in the dream, her care, her encouragement- and he knows despite all of it, he's still hiding his power, and he fears he's letting her down, or letting her gift die in him. Her being glad to see him is what makes it sting so deeply.

Toyla's is the most straightforward. His sister's death, but more importantly, at his own hand. Its not just her death that terrifies him, but it's that he will somehow betray their bond.

I also think that's why they excluded Wylan from this scene. It was more than just to show his intelligence and knowledge in biology/chemistry, but because his greatest fear would likely be something to involve his father, which the show hadn't yet revealed because it was needed for future seasons/the SoC spin off. (That never happened)

Speed Review: Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)

Right off the bat: this movie feels exactly like what its title promised: A refreshing, bright new horizon.

Brand New Day, in many ways, feels like nothing the MCU has ever presented before, and at the same time it works perfectly as a continuation of the previous trilogy. The movie has undoubtedly matured along with the character.

Visually, it's an unexpected feast. The excitement we've been longing of swinging through buildings and skyscrapers is finally here, and overall the action feels much more diverse and creative than before. New York City looks beautiful on every shot.

Tom Holland's Spider-Man is as charming as ever as he leads us to a new side of his character, now well-cemented as an experienced hero, who is faced with a very human struggle: the trauma of being thrown into adulthood and the loneliness of not fitting into the norm.

This may be the closest the MCU has come to make a movie that feels like diving inside a Marvel comic, where Spider-Man lives inside an ever changing world of fellow heroes, vigilantes, and other super-humans whose presence is casual, fun, interesting, and naturally connected with each other.

The movie seamlessly blends into the overarching story of the MCU, but maybe more importantly, it also stands perfectly on its own. The story isn't interested on just being a stepping stone for the cinematic universe's future, but above all, on telling a good, fleshed out Spider-Man story. And it does it really, really well.

The result it's excitement about the potencial ahead; even though, in the MCU, the precedent to good set-up has often been disapointing, specially these past few years. Yet, the new opportunities this movie presents have already been given a brilliant introduction.

If you really wanted to, you would be able to nitpick things to dislike, maybe a couple of storylines you expected to be more prominent, things like that.

But as a fan, it's a quality, fantastic, fun new adventure for us to cry, laugh, and drive the roller coaster of action alongside a hero who, once again, reminds us to never give up.

I don't see any Spider-Man fan walking out of the theatre with anything other than a smile on their face. And really, we owe our pal Peter to keep on smiling.

For sure to be re-watched many, many times in the future.
